The experts numbering about 12 are combing the courtroom looking for any explosive device and other dangerous weapons.

How it started
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported that over 24 million valid votes were cast in the election. Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Lagos State Governor, received the highest number of votes, with 8,794,726 votes, nearly two million more than his closest rival, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 6,984,520 votes. Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, who mobilized young voters impressively in a short period, secured 6,101,533 votes.
Tinubu and Atiku each won in 12 out of Nigeria’s 36 states, while Peter Obi clinched 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Former Kano State Governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, finished fourth, winning his state, Kano, with 1,496,687 votes. All four candidates also achieved significant support in various other states.
INEC officially declared Tinubu as the winner of the election on March 1, 2023, a decision strongly contested by Atiku, Obi, and their numerous supporters.

In his acceptance speech as the President-Elect, Tinubu responded to his political opponents by urging them to take their grievances to the court. He acknowledged that some candidates might find it difficult to accept the election results and emphasized that seeking legal remedies is their right. He firmly stated that resorting to violence is neither justifiable nor acceptable, and any disputes regarding the electoral outcome should be addressed within the confines of a court of law, not on the streets.

Nigeria Police Force Assures Preparedness Ahead of Presidential Election Petition Court Judgment
With the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court scheduled for Wednesday, the Nigeria Police Force has issued a statement asserting its readiness to maintain law and order across the nation.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, the police sent a stern warning to politicians and potential troublemakers, cautioning against spreading misinformation or making statements that could incite violence.
The police emphasized that deployments have been reinforced throughout the country to prevent any breach of law and order.
“The Police wish to reiterate the commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the judgment,” Adejobi stated.
Femi Falana Expresses Concern Over Blackmail and Intimidation of Judiciary in Presidential Election Petitions.
Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has raised concerns about the unprecedented levels of blackmail and intimidation targeting the judiciary in relation to the presidential election petitions. He emphasized that such tactics are unnecessary, given that the opportunity for appeal at the Supreme Court still exists.
Falana made these remarks as a guest on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” program on Monday. He highlighted the extraordinary attention drawn to the ongoing presidential election petitions, noting that no election petition in Nigeria’s history, dating back to colonial rule, has garnered this level of attention.
We have been having election petitions since the colonial era, but none has attracted such level of blackmail and intimidation of the judiciary,” Falana expressed.
His concern lies in the perception that some individuals and groups are portraying that everything concludes with the judgment of the Court of Appeal and the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. Falana emphasized that any party that faces an unfavorable judgment still has the avenue to appeal to the Supreme Court, a fundamental aspect of the legal process.
“So, what is the basis for the cheap blackmail that is going on?” Falana questioned, underscoring the importance of allowing the legal process to run its course and respecting the judiciary’s role in upholding the rule of law.

Election Petition Tribunal Sacks Senator Jibrin Isah, Orders Rerun in Kogi East Senatorial District.
Lokoja, Kogi State – The Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, has made a significant decision by sacking Senator Jibrin Isah, popularly known as Echocho, who represented Kogi East senatorial district in the National Assembly. The tribunal’s ruling has led to the ordering of a rerun election in 155 polling units within Kogi East.
Senator Jibrin Isah, an ally of Governor Yahaya Bello and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was initially declared the winner of the senatorial election in Kogi East. However, the tribunal’s verdict has set the stage for a contest between Isah and Dr. Victor Adoji, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the upcoming rerun election.
The decision of the tribunal follows a series of events that have garnered public attention, including reports that Senator Isah was booed during a campaign rally in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State in January. At the rally, some constituents allegedly expressed their dissatisfaction and called for Isah’s return to Governor Bello, whom he had allegedly credited with his victory in the 2019 election. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has placed blame on the eight corps members who were abducted in August while traveling to Sokoto State for their primary assignment, sparking controversy and concerns from the victims’ families.
SaharaReporters first reported on August 23, 2023, that eight corps members had been kidnapped by suspected terrorists on their way to a camp in Zamfara State on Monday, August 21, 2023. These young graduates, fresh out of universities, were embarking on their one-year mandatory national service.
The corps members were traveling in an Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC) bus from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Sokoto State when their vehicle was intercepted by the hoodlums. Although there were reportedly 11 corps members and the driver in the bus, three of the corps members managed to escape during the attack. However, the remaining eight corps members and the driver were abducted.
Among those kidnapped were Emmanuel Esudue, a graduate of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering from Akwa Ibom State University, and Victoria Udoka, a graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Uyo.
In response to the abduction, the Nigeria Police Force and the army organized a search party for the kidnapped corps members. However, the families of the victims expressed frustration and accused security agencies and the NYSC of not showing enough concern towards their plight.
In an unexpected turn of events, the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, shifted blame onto the abducted corps members themselves. According to him, the corps members disregarded NYSC’s warning against embarking on night journeys, which, he believes, may have led to their unfortunate ordeal.
Megwa explained during an interview with Channels TV that NYSC had explicitly cautioned corps members not to travel at night. This warning was included in their call-up letters, which stated that they should stop their journeys and find a safe location after 6 p.m.
He further elaborated on the situation, stating, “Now this issue in question, they got to that point around 8 pm, and that Funtua Road is very deadly. All passengers, the moment they got to that place by 6 p.m., they parked, but this driver continued with his trip.”
Megwa emphasized that the NYSC was actively working on security measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. He assured that the organization had taken proactive steps, even before the commencement of orientation camps, to emphasize the importance of avoiding night travel.
The situation has raised concerns over the safety of corps members during their service year, highlighting the need for greater attention to security and adherence to safety guidelines. Families of the abducted individuals continue to demand action to secure the safe return of their loved ones, while the NYSC remains committed to preventing such incidents in the future.
