What are the Facts Influencing Foreign Exchange Rate of dollars to Naira

Here are some of the reasons for the dollar-to-naira exchange rate’s decline.

Inflation Rates: It is common knowledge that inflation has a direct impact on black market exchange rates. The naira will benefit if the Nigerian economy can be stabilised and inflation is brought under control; however, if the naira continues to fall, it may indicate that food and other necessities are becoming more expensive on a daily basis.

Interest Rates: Interest rates are another tool to keep an eye on. If the interest rate at which banks lend money rises, the economy will contract, and the value of the naira will fall as a result.

Government debt has the potential to affect investor confidence and, as a result, the flow of funds into the economy. If inflows are high, the naira exchange rate will rise in its favour.

    Speculators:

Speculators have a significant impact on the naira-to-dollar exchange rate. They hoard money in anticipation of a profit, causing the naira to fall even further.

Trade Conditions: Although Nigeria is currently running a trade deficit, favourable trade terms will lead to an increase in the value of the Nigerian currency to the dollar. China, India, and the majority of Asian countries supply everything.

How Godwin Emefiele allegedly ‘gifted’ FHC Judge armored vehicle, cash for frustrating arrest

Godwin Emefiele: A Justice of the Federal High Court (FHC) in Abuja reportedly received an armored car and cash gifts for failing to stop the Department of State Security Service’s (SSS) attempts to detain Godwin Emefiele, which has undisputed authority in the matter.

According to sources familiar with the transaction, Emefiele gave the judge the car and an undisclosed sum of money last week.

Emefiele has been on the secret police’s radar due to allegations of corruption and financing terrorism.

Remember that the DSS requested Emefiele’s arrest in a request to the Federal High Court in December 2022.

Justice John Tsoho’s court received this order.

Justice Tsoho criticized the DSS motion, charging the security agency with violating the rules in an additional effort to allegedly stall the legal process, which, according to reliable sources, was an effort to buy Emefiele more time.

In a decision dated December 13, 2022, Justice Tsoho stated that the secret police had failed to prove its allegations against the nation’s central bank chief.

The head of the Nigerian Federal High Court system ruled on the ex-parte application on December 9 and stated, “The entire affidavit depositions…purport that preliminary investigation has revealed various acts of terrorism financing, fraudulent activities perpetrated by the respondent, and his involvement in economic crimes of national security dimension.”

These are undoubtedly serious accusations, but the applicant hasn’t offered any hard proof to back them up.

The judge further stated that before filing allegations in court, the SSS had not provided any proof of President Muhammadu Buhari’s consent.

Ita Enang: APC debunks expulsion of Ex-presidential Aide, from party

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Executive Council, Elders, and Stakeholders in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State have refuted the rumored expulsion of Senator Ita Enang, a former Senior Special Advisor to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta Affairs, from the party.

In a statement released on Thursday in Uyo, the local government chapter chairman, Mr. Umoh Ekop, claimed that the people responsible for the alleged letter of expulsion were outsiders to the APC.

Ekop argued that Enang never did anything wrong that should have led to his expulsion from the party, calling the alleged expulsion an insult.

“Normally, we would have permitted the said publication, knowing that the said publication is meaningless and does not have the weight capacity to divert attention from the party or the Distinguish Senator Ita Enang, who is the backbone of the party at the Local Government Area and State government levels,” he said.

He characterized the former presidential aide as a very devoted, committed, and sincere APC member who has been interrogating the opposition on the subject of transparency with regard to state public funds.

He stated that Enang has received a vote of confidence from the party’s chapter executive, elders, and all of the APC members in Ibiono Ibom, and he therefore urged the entire APC family at all levels and the general public to disregard such publication.

Drama As Clergymen Protest Sealing Of Church By Ikpeazu

Clergymen Protest Sealing Of Church By Abia Govt

In Abia, a few clergy members of the Apostolic Christian Church Mission protested.

They protested the church’s headquarters being sealed off at 34 Omuma Road in Aba, the capital city of Abia State and its commercial center.

Read Also: Amidst wait for Wike’s Preferred Candidate, Obasanjo visits Wike in Rivers

Following a protracted leadership conflict that shook the church, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu had ordered the closure of the church’s headquarters.

The directive was included in a statement dated December 31, 2022, and signed by Chris Ezem, Secretary to the State Government.

In their cassocks, the protesting clergymen marched to the governor’s lodge while singing gospel songs and laying out their grievances.

Some of them carried signs that read, “Ikpeazu should open the national headquarters of ACCM,” “ACCM does not support tribalism, Let governor Ikpeazu unseal the headquarters of ACCM,” and other statements.

Apostle Christopher Ogbuagu and Rev. Ugochukwu Onugha, the church’s spokesmen, accused Ikpeazu of allegedly attempting to persuade the church’s leadership to favour his Kinsmen.

The two, who acknowledged that the church was currently dealing with a leadership crisis, questioned why the governor, who is not a member of the church, was interested in the situation. The case is currently before the Owerri division of the Court of Appeal.

The group’s statement, which was provided to our correspondent, stated that a small number of church elders—mostly politicians who also happen to be related to the governor of the state of Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu—want to impose an unpopular bishop on the church in response to the passing of the previous Bishop.

The next in line is a career missionary by the name of Rev. Apostle John U. Esinna; the financial secretary of the church, who is not a career missionary of the church, rose up and is receiving the support of the governor’s kinsmen and political allies; led by Chief Theo Nkire, a former attorney general of Abia state, and Elder Godwin Nna, a former commissioner and local government chairman.

Also Read: Yemi Alade Reacts To Rumoured Pregnancy For Togolese President, All You Need To Know

Over 98% of the clergy and members support Rev. J.U. Esinna’s leadership, while a tiny minority led by Theo Nkire is trying everything in their power to impose P. C. Erondu on the church.

The case is even currently before the Court of Appeal in Owerri, but instead of waiting patiently and lawfully for the court’s decision, Theo Nkire’s group has used every legal tactic at their disposal to coerce the church.

Their most recent maneuver was to convince the governor to shut down the church’s headquarters in order to intimidate churchgoers who oppose his relatives.

He even referred to the pro-Esnna group’s leaders as criminals when he declared their leaders wanted on the state-run radio station.

The entire clergy has started a peaceful protest because they are tired of the governor of Abia state’s ongoing involvement, meddling, and intimidation.

The purpose of this is to inform the public that the state governor should be held accountable for any harm that occurs to any of our leaders and that he should relinquish control of the church.

The governor is interfering in a church matter that is even before the court of Appeal and attempting to intimidate the church into accepting a nonclergy as their Bishop because his relatives and political allies are involved.

I’ll rather choose between devil, deep-blue-sea – Naja’atu Mohammed explains why she won’t support Peter Obi

Naja’atu Mohammed, a former All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council Director for the Civil Society Organization, has outlined why she would not back Peter Obi, the Labour Party, LP’s presidential candidate.

During a question-and-answer session on Thursday’s episode of Arise Television’s Morning Show, Naja’atu explained her reason.

Recall that Naja’atu recently tendered her resignation from her position with the APC and Tinubu’s campaign team.

She was fired, according to Tinubu’s campaign council, for acting as a spy for the opposition.

When asked why she chose Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, as her preferred candidate for the upcoming presidential election, Naja’atu replied that she was torn between Tinubu and Atiku and was forced to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea.

“I’m not doing Atiku today for anything,” she declared. I stated my justifications and among them I claimed that Peter Obi is a movement.

Also Read: Tinubu to empower Abia women, provide educational loans to students — Betta Edu

Furthermore, I added that it is not even about Peter Obi; rather, it is the first time that Nigerian youths have a voice and are banding together to form some sort of movement. Mr. Peter Obi won’t outlive this movement. They have a structural issue, as I stated.

“I’ll give you an example; Buhari received 15 million votes every election since 2003, but he was denied the presidency. Why? Why didn’t Buhari win despite the cult-like support the North gave him?

He was unable to build bridges and had structural issues, which prevented him from winning.

The only thing that allowed him to win the presidency was the alliance, which he had repeatedly rejected, especially with the Southwest. Additionally, I’ll add that there is no luxury of time, which is why I stated that I must choose between the devil and the deep blue sea.
