  • Olusegun Obasanjo has no political Value, Atiku, Tinubu trash Obi’s endorsement

Olusegun Obasanjo has no political Value, Atiku, Tinubu trash Obi’s endorsement

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ridiculed former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday for endorsing one of the presidential candidates, Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

In a special New Year’s message released to the media on Sunday afternoon, Obasanjo stated that while none of the contestants are saints, Obi has an advantage over the others in terms of knowledge, discipline, and what they can offer. Therefore, he urged young people to support the LP candidate.

Obasanjo also criticised Tinubu and Atiku, stating that ‘Emi Lokan’ (My turn) and ‘I have paid my dues’ are synonymous and represent the wrong attitude and mentality for the leadership of Nigeria at this time.

The APC candidate swiftly dismissed the endorsement as “worthless” and not a threat to his ambition, while the PDP stated that it was not seeking the endorsement of any individual.

Tinubu, in a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Director of Media and Publicity for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, described the endorsement as worthless, which will not keep him awake at night.

He stated that Obasanjo has no political influence or goodwill in Nigeria to help anyone win an election.

A portion of the statement reads, “We feel sorry for Peter Gregory Obi because we are confident that Chief Obasanjo cannot win his polling unit and ward in Abeokuta for Obi in the upcoming presidential election on February 25, 2023.”

“Mr. Peter Obi cannot use Chief Obasanjo’s endorsement as political currency anywhere in Nigeria because he is not a political force, even in his region.

Chief Obasanjo likewise endorsed Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s 2019 candidate against President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari defeated Atiku by a large margin in the election.

“History will repeat itself in February, as our candidate, Aswáj Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will also defeat Obi by a significant margin,” he said.

The candidate for the APC accused the former president of “constantly opposing progressive political forces, as he did in 1993 against MKO Abiola.”

In its response, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stated that it only cares about the approval of the Nigerian people and not that of an individual, regardless of how influential the individual may be.

Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, told Daily Trust over the phone that Nigerians have endorsed the PDP and Atiku Abubakar, and that the endorsement of a single individual does not bother them.

“Nigerians have endorsed the People’s Democratic Party and Atiku Abubakar, and this is occurring daily. This is evident from the response to our campaigns. Recent victories in Osun, FCT, and elsewhere serve as indicators. We are confident that the PDP will win regardless of who endorses them, because ballot experience matters,” Ologunagba explained.

The party spokesman added, “Obasanjo’s endorsement is that of an individual, and he has the right to endorse whomever he chooses.” However, as a political party, we are primarily concerned with gaining the support of the Nigerian people; a single individual’s support will not translate into a vote.

Obasanjo has the right to endorse whoever he chooses, regardless of how important he may be, but our focus is on the Nigerian people for their endorsement. What is essential is that Nigerians have witnessed what is occurring and cannot be swayed by a single endorsement. This is why, as a party, we are focused on election issues.

What are the problems? The issues are insecurity, nepotism, government inexperience, and the apparent lack of preparedness of the APC government. The PDP has provided Nigerians with a candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who possesses sufficient experience for the upcoming task. For this reason, many APC members are joining Atiku’s camp. They are leaving the party because they are aware of the real situation.” He said

Tambuwal Shuns Wike, Insists Atiku Will Win 2023 Presidential Election

Aminu Tambuwal, the Sokoto State governor has said that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate would win the 2023 election.

Tambuwal also announced that Atiku would reopen Nigeria’s borders shut by the Buhari administration.

The Sokoto helmsman is the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

He spoke on Saturday at the party’s campaign rally in Illela Local Government Area.

Tambuwal assured Nigerians that Atiku has better plans for them and the country.

“These include reopening of the borders, addressing insecurity and the provision of basic necessities for Nigerians,” he said.

Tambuwal, however, expressed sympathy for the people of Illela over repeated banditry attacks.

The governor said despite the setbacks, economic recess and COVID-19 impacts, his government performed well.

Several projects were executed under healthcare, education, water supply and social intervention, he noted.

  • Atiku May Inherit Buhari’s Northern Support

Atiku May Inherit Buhari’s Northern Support

Atiku Abubakar may likely inherit president Buhari’s northern support as many northern APC members plan to work for him just as PDP northern members voted Buhari in 2015

In the 2015 general election, a northerner, General Muhammadu Buhari, as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress defeated the incumbent, a southerner, Dr Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

It was said that Buhari enjoyed the massive support of the northern electorate, including members of the opposition PDP because he was seen as one of them. Many PDP governors were even reported to have worked for Buhari’s emergence as President.

At the conclusion of the recent presidential primaries for 2023 election however, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has a southerner, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as its flag bearer while a northerner, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerged as the presidential candidate of the PDP. With Atiku, from the north, as a presidential candidate, the northern voters, expectedly are queuing up behind him irrespective of party affiliation.

It is therefore not a surprise to find in Adamawa state, billboards with Atiku’s photograph alongside that of the APC governorship candidate in the state, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani and the APC senatorial candidate for Adamawa Central, Malam Abdula’aziz Nyako, as “a winning team”, flooding every nook and cranny of the state.

Meanwhile, it has been alleged that the group that is sponsoring such posters and billboards in Adamawa state are members of the ruling PDP in the state who are not on the same page with the Ahmadu Fintiri-led government.

Though the group was regarded as a faceless one, it continued to place such billboards at any available space in the state.

The government however claimed it had no idea of such billboards in any part of the state.
In Bauchi state, a lot of frontline politicians who hitherto were chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are now defecting with their followers to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Interestingly, these defections have only benefited political parties whose flag bearers are from the northern part of the country. Although, Bauchi defectors usually give reasons for defecting, it was gathered that they were changing parties to be on the side of the majority which seeks to perpetuate northern presidency beyond 2023.

Speaking with Saturday Vanguard, an Electrical Engineer, Abdulraman Aliyu said he would vote a northern presidential candidate under any formidable party.

“Democracy is a game of number. It is no secret that the North has the number to remain in power for as long as it wants. There’s no need to pretend, my family and I will vote for a candidate from the North. Why will I vote someone else when a northern politician is on the ballot?” he queried.

The leader of the National Harmonized Traders Union, Dr Bature Abdulaziz, who is also the founder of Patriotic Elders of Nigeria (PEN) strongly believed that the former vice president Atiku Abubakar, now presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would enjoy massive support of voters from the north in the coming 2023 general elections.

In an interview with Saturday Vanguard in Kano, Dr Abdulaziz however decried the manner both the APC and the PDP conducted their presidential primaries which he described as terrible, saying the defections of members from one party to the other in order to get a platform to contest was a bad omen.

According to him, “It may be possible for some supporters of Atiku to support Tinubu and for some Tinubu’s followers to support Atiku. This is because of the way and manner the primaries were conducted in both the PDP and the APC.

Everyone saw what happened during the primaries such that people were only interested in getting a platform in which to contest as they moved from one party to the other. There were those who lost the opportunity to become candidates in APC and moved to PDP and vice versa.

For this reason, this kind of exodus will also take place as it happened before Buhari emerged. The people in the north on their own will prefer Atiku to Tinubu. But don’t forget that the APC governors in the north have the federal government at the center. The federal government and Tinubu’s supporters will have to double up their efforts.

A northern elder and PDP chieftain, Abdullahi Muhammed Lamba, argued that the PDP was fair in throwing its presidential ticket open during the primaries as the north was in power for only two years out of the 16 years that the PDP ruled the country while the south enjoyed the remaining 14 years.

He argued that the ruling All progressives Congress (APC) has lost its support in the north and can no longer win the hearts of northerners who suffered mentally and financially to bring President Muhammadu Buhari to power.

Lamba contended that “APC’s poor governance was responsible for the insurgency plaguing the north which the masses thought Buhari as a retired army General would contain. But it became worse under him as the north has become a killing field under the APC led government”.

He explained that none of the promises made to Nigerians by the APC has been fulfilled, with the economy in comatose and fuel scarcity persisting under the president who is also the minister of petroleum. He said that even the president’s home state of Katsina is being occupied by armed bandits and he watches helplessly as scores are being killed, raped and kidnapped.

He declared that, the PDP having learnt its lessons was set to reclaim power in 2023 with Atiku Abubakar.

In Plateau State, Ambassador Bagudu Hirse, submitted that “the support enjoyed by Buhari in 2015 was as a result of the security situation in the country as many people argued that if he did not win, the country would not be in peace. But you need to go to the embassies and see how Nigerians are trying to leave the country. The good thing about Atiku is the Muslim/Christian combination, which is the major thing in his favour. Atiku stands a chance of being voted in because the Muslim/Muslim ticket will not work out in the present situation in Nigeria.”

In his own opinion, Mr David Racha noted that “the northerners have only one agenda which is their religion. The youths are even less equipped, they have no knowledge of their history and this definitely is not their fault.”

Another respondent, Mr. Alex Kwapnoe said, “due to religious bigotry, I see Atiku getting some support from the north. But there will be resistance from Kano, Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Kwara and Zamfara in an attempt to safeguard their influence in such states.”

To Mr Stephen Musa, “Politics, especially in Nigeria is unpredictable. Even though the event in 2015 is different from today, anything can happen. However, I doubt if Atiku will enjoy the same patronage Buhari had. Remember, the APC governors were unanimous in their decision on power shift during the primaries which produced Tinubu.

“My view is that Atiku may not enjoy the support of some APC governors, but may end up losing the support of his PDP governors if the party fails to resolve the internal crises which emerged after the primaries. The southern governors, and indeed their supporters are not happy with the outcome of the primaries, which produced a Northern candidate. Then there is the issue of the choice of the vice-presidential candidate, which some of the governors, even from the North, are unhappy about. One thing is clear, 2023 will definitely be dicey.”

Full Text of Olusegun Obasanjo letter to Nigerians, endorsing Peter Obi

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo sent a letter to Nigerians on Sunday urging them to vote for Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, in the upcoming February election.

Obasanjo disclosed this in a message titled “My Appeal to All Nigerians, Especially Young Nigerians

According to Obasanjo, none of the presidential candidates is a saint, but in terms of knowledge, discipline, and what they have to offer, Obi has the upper hand.

He wrote, “None of the candidates are saints, but when one compares their character, antecedent, their understanding, knowledge, discipline, and vitality that they can bring to the table, as well as the great efforts required to remain focused on the job, especially in light of the current state of the country and my own experience on the job, Peter Obi has an advantage as a mentee.

“Others, like all of us, have something to contribute to the new dispensation for the liberation, restoration, and collective salvation of Nigeria. Peter is a needle with a thread attached from North to South, so he cannot become lost. In other words, he has access to individuals who can pull his ears if necessary. Obasanjo wrote in a signed letter, “It goes without saying that he has a young and capable running mate with a spotless record of achievement in both public and private life.

President Muhammadu Buhari described the seven years of his presidency as hell, stating, “The last seven and a half years have undoubtedly been eventful and stressful for many Nigerians. We have moved from the frying pan into the fire and from the summit to the valley.”

Full text of Olusegun Obasanjo letter below:

    Dear Compatriots and Friends,

MY APPEAL TO ALL NIGERIANS PARTICULARLY YOUNG NIGERIANS

Happy New Year!  May all our national calamities disappear this year.

I am constrained to write this letter to all Nigerians especially young Nigerians, friends of Nigeria globally as well as our development partners because of the gravity, responsibility and implications of the collective decision Nigerians, both young and old, will be making within the next two months.

The last seven and a half years have no doubt been eventful and stressful years for many Nigerians.  We have moved from frying pan to fire and from mountain top to the valley.

Our leaders have done their best, but their best had turned out to be not the best for Nigeria and Nigerians at home and abroad.  For most Nigerians, it was hell on earth.

Those of us who are alive should thank God for His mercies, brace ourselves for the remaining few months of this administration and pray and work very hard for an immediate better future – future of liberation, restoration and great hope and expectation.

We have had campaigners going up and down the country feeding us with what they mean and what they do not mean, what they understand and what they do not fully understand, what is possible and what is not possible, what is realistic and what is unrealistic, what is true and what is untrue. I believe that we need not be confused nor be gullible. Let us be cautious, not to be fooled again.

I have interacted with the major contestants and I find it interesting that, in one form or the other, each of them claims to want to do what I did during my Presidency and to take Nigeria back to where it was at the height of my Presidency and immediately after. I was pained that most of them do not realise that the Nigeria of today had been dragged down well below Nigeria of the beginning of my Presidency in June 1999.

Although at that time, Nigeria was in very bad shape and was tottering on the verge of collapse and break-up.

Even then, Nigeria was not faced with the level of pervasive and mind-numbing insecurity, rudderless leadership, buoyed by mismanagement of diversity and pervasive corruption, bad economic policies resulting in extremes of poverty and massive unemployment and galloping inflation.

For these reasons, I kept pointing out to them that the instruments used in 1999 to 2007 and methodology used will grossly be inadequate for the perilous situation we now find ourselves.

Without prejudice but with greatest respect to each individual with utmost regard for the best for Nigeria and all Nigerians and from my personal experience, all the major contestants claim to be my mentees. I will not deny such positions since I have worked with all of them directly and indirectly in government.

I have come to realise a number of factors in character, attributes and attitude that are necessary in the job of directing the affairs of Nigeria successfully and at a time like this. These characteristics or attributes are many but let us be mindful of some key ones together.

From interaction and experience, and as mentees as most of them claim, I will, without prejudice, fear or ill-will, make bold to say that there are four major factors to watch out for in a leader you will consider to hoist on yourself and on the rest of Nigerians in the coming election and they are what I call TVCP: Track record of ability and performance; Vision that is authentic, honest and realistic; Character and attributes of a lady and a gentleman who are children of God and obedient to God; and Physical and mental capability with soundness of mind as it is a very taxing and tasking assignment at the best of times and more so it is at the most difficult time that we are.

Let me say straight away that ‘Emi Lokan’ (My turn) and ‘I have paid my dues’ are one and the same thing and are wrong attitude and mentality for the leadership of Nigeria now.

They cannot form the new pedestal to reinvent and to invest in a new Nigeria based on an All-Nigeria Government for the liberation and restoration of Nigeria. Such a government must have representation from all sectors of our national life – public, private, civil society, professional, labour, employers, and the diaspora. The solution should be in ‘we’ and ‘us’ and not in ‘me’ and ‘I’.

Mind you, I reiterate that no human being is an angel let alone a Messiah, but there are elements of these attributes and on comparative basis and by measure of what we know of, and what some of us have experienced from the front-runners, we must assess judiciously and choose wisely.

If anybody claims he or she has anything to the contrary, it will be up to him or her to prove to us.

I pray not to be proved right again in the bad sense but rather to be proved right in the positive and glorious sense of Nigeria becoming what God had created it to be – a land of plenty and prosperity united for common purpose of inclusive society, common security, shared prosperity, equity, egalitarianism, justice, and equal stake in the Project Nigeria with leadership role of Nigeria for the black race and fair share of global division of labour.

One ridiculous point that has been touted to justify unjustifiable appointments and selections is ‘competence’. In truth and in reality, genuine competence can be found in any region or section of Nigeria through track record and performance if only people will honestly and sincerely look hard for people with such attainment and attribute.

Most of us in good conscience can testify to competence when we see any anywhere. What is masqueraded as ‘competence’ is self-interest and nepotism

We have a unique opportunity to correct ourselves by ourselves for the good of ourselves. Those who are preaching division, segregation, separation, and want to use diversity for their own self and selfish interest are enemies of the nation, no matter what else they may disguisedly profess or proclaim.

The Challenge Is For Nigerian Youth:

If we fall prey again, we will have ourselves to blame and no one can say how many more knocks Nigeria can take before it tips over. To be forewarned is to be fore-armed.

Future is not emotion. I challenge the youth to arise. Let nobody pull wool over your eyes to divide you and/or segregate you to make you underlings. Nigerian youth, wherever they come from, North or South, East or West need education which is now denied to over 20 million children; Nigerian youth also need skills, empowerment, employment, reasonably good living conditions, welfare and well-being.

My dear young men and women, you must come together and bring about a truly meaningful change in your lives. If you fail, you have no one else to blame. Your present and future are in your hands to make or to mar. The future of Nigeria is in the same manner in your hands and literally so. If for any reason you fail to redeem yourself and your country, you will have lost the opportunity for good and you will have no one to blame but yourselves and posterity will not forgive you. Get up, get together, get going and get us to where we should be. And you, the youth, it is your time and your turn. ‘Eyin Lokan’ (Your turn).

The power to change is in your hands. Your future, my future, the future of grandchildren and great grandchildren is in your hands. Politics and elections are numbers game. You have the numbers, get up, stand up and make your numbers count.

Let me say it again, loud and clear, Nigeria has no business with insecurity, poverty, insurgency, banditry, unemployment, hunger, debt, division and disunity. We are in these situations because advertently or inadvertently, our leaders have made the choices. They have done the best they could do. Let them take their rest deservedly or not and let them enjoy their retirement as Septuagenarians or older.

I became Head of State at 39 and at 42, I had retired into the farm. When it was considered necessary, I was drafted back into active political life after twenty years of interregnum. I came back at 62 and by 70, I was on my way out. Others like General Gowon and Enahoro became national leaders at 33 and 27 respectively and General Gowon at the helms of leadership of Nigeria at the highest level. The vigour, energy, agility, dynamism and outreach that the job of leadership of Nigeria requires at the very top may not be provided as a septuagenarian or older. I know that from personal experience. And it is glaring out of our current experiences.

Otherwise, we will be fed with, “The President says” and we will neither see nor hear him directly as we should. Yes, for some, age and physical and mental disposition are not in tandem.

But where and when they are with obvious evidence, they must be taken into account for purpose of reality. And yet it is a job in our present situation where the team leader or captain of the team should be up and doing, outgoing inside and outside and speaking to the nation on almost daily basis visibly and as much as possible interactively and meeting his colleagues all over the world on behalf of Nigeria.

Youth of Nigeria, your time has come, and it is now and please grasp it. If not now, it will be never. I appeal to you to turn the tide on its head and march forward chanting ‘Awa Lokan’ (Our turn) not with a sense of entitlement, but with a demonstrable ideological commitment to unity and transformation of Nigeria.

Leave The Past, Face The Future:

Can we let the past go? I appeal to the young Nigerians to stop inheriting other people’s prejudices and enemies. Make your own friends and stop inheriting your father’s enemies.

Let’s stop criminalising and demonising one another on the basis of the civil war on which we are all wrong. And let’s praise and thank God for preserving the oneness of Nigeria.

The Scripture says that if God would take account of all our wrongdoings, nobody would be able to stand before Him. While not suffering from amnesia, let us stop still fighting and reacting to the civil war in our hearts, minds, heads and our attitude acrimoniously.

Let’s stop living on our different wrongs or mistakes of the past: treasonable felony, Tiv riot and its handling, first military coup and its aftermath, second military coup, araba, pogrom and the civil war, all in the 1960s. And more recently OPC, Egbesu, MASSOB, IPOB, Boko Haram and banditry. No region can claim to be innocent or to be saintly. And no justification will suffice. I

n our respective individual or regional positions, we have done right and we have done wrong. It is therefore not right for any of us to be sanctimonious to see ourselves as saints and the rest as devils incarnate.

Just let us agree to move forward together in mutual forgiveness, one accord, inclusive society, equality and equity. Together and without bias and discrimination, fear or favour, we can have Nigeria of one nation in diversity, in truth and in practice. Let us honour, cherish, respect and even celebrate our diversity which is the basis of our potential greatness and strength.

If we will only continue to harp on wrongs done by each of us individually or collectively, we will never be able to stand together. If we will continue with wide brush to paint a national or sub-national group as bad and never to be trusted with leadership because of past error or mistakes that some of them were responsible for and treat their offspring as inheritors, it will amount to great injustice that will surely lead to no peace, no security and no stability for development and progress.

First, no group is faultless; second, for the greatness of the whole, we need one another as constituents of the whole; third, we cannot be talking and working for Africa’s integration and for Nigeria’s disintegration at the same time. Why for instance should I be stigmatized or despised because of my place of origin, place of birth or where I come from? Where I was born, by whom I was born and when I was born were not choices made by me. They were choices and prerogatives of God.

Any antagonism against me on that basis is unfair and is tantamount to fighting against God, the Creator. Such derogatory attitude and mindset do not build any human institution let alone a nation. While not forgetting the past, let us put the past behind us for it not to continue to mar our present and our future and that of the coming generation. We must rise above primordial animalistic instincts and behaviour. Yes, we are human and higher than animals in the wild. Let us develop national ethos and national characteristics that can take us collectively to the promised.

My dear young men and women, let me assure you that there are only two tribes of people in Nigeria a tribe of good people and a tribe of bad people. You are either a good Nigerian of Igbo extraction, Kanuri extraction, etc, or a bad Nigerian of Yoruba extraction, Ijaw extraction etc.

I will at this juncture want to commend the politicians as they have generally been reasonably civil in their campaigns without making politics as a call to war against opponents.

Genuine and fair competition conveys greater legitimacy in any political rivalry or competition. A situation where people in authority and power assume such positions through foul and despicable means and continue to espouse and act in ways that only engender conflict or war by subverting legitimacy of power and authority does not augur well for the polity and as such, the moral foundation of the government and the society will be terribly weakened.

May God help, save, protect and sustain Nigeria for all Nigerians, for Africa and for the human race. We can only continue to play politics of ethnicity, religion, region and money bags at the peril of our country and to self-destruction. We need selfless, courageous, honest, patriotic, in short, outstanding leadership with character and fear of God beyond what we have had in recent past.

None of the contestants is a saint but when one compares their character, antecedent, their understanding, knowledge, discipline and vitality that they can bring to bear and the great efforts required to stay focused on the job particularly looking at where the country is today and with the experience on the job that I personally had, Peter Obi as a mentee has an edge. Others like all of us have what they can contribute to the new dispensation to liberation, restoration and salvaging of Nigeria collectively.

One other important point to make about Peter is that he is a needle with thread attached to it from North and South and he may not get lost. In other words, he has people who can pull his ears, if and when necessary.

Needless to say that he has a young and able running mate with clean track record of achievement both in public and private life.

Obasanjo Blasts Tinubu for Saying “Emi Lokan”

Obasanjo has slammed Bola Tinubu for saying “Emi Lokan

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has said it’s wrong attitude and mentality for someone in Nigeria to say “Emi Lokan”.

Recall that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, had claimed that he was the next person to become the President of Nigeria, saying, “Emi Lokan” in English meaning “It is my turn.”

Tinubu said in Abeokuta in April last year during his campaign for APC presidential primary election.

But the former president on Sunday condemned the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, for saying ’Emi Lokan’.

In a letter on Sunday, Obasanjo said: “Let me say straight away that ‘Emi Lokan’ (My turn) and ‘I have paid my dues’ are one and the same thing and are wrong attitude and mentality for the leadership of Nigeria now.”

Those claims, according to Obasanjo, “cannot form the new pedestal to reinvent and to invest in a new Nigeria based on an All-Nigeria Government for the liberation and restoration of Nigeria.”

Obasanjo said no individual can claim he has the absolute solutions to Nigeria’s problems, stating that “the solution should be in ‘we’ and ‘us’ and not in ‘me’ and ‘I’.”

Meanwhile, the former president officially endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, as his candidate for the 2023 election.

BREAKING: 11 APC Governors, 37 Senators, 15 Reps Working For Atiku

11 APC Governors are currently working for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP

11 Governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are currently working underground for Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation revealed on Sunday.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Ejesgist.ng, Daniel Bwala, a spokesperson of the Atiku Campaign Organisation also disclosed that as at first week of December 2022, 37 senators and 15 House of Representatives elected under the platform of APC are working for Atiku’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.

“As early as first week of December, we already have 11 APC governors that are supporting our cause and it is still counting. We have 37 APC senators and 15 House of Reps members. That was first week of December. You can imagine by now how much more we would have gained” Bwala dicslosed.

The PDP chieftain was responding to an interview granted by Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former Commissioner for Information in Edo state and staunch loyalist of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who said he had it on good authority that Atiku met with three APC governors in Dubai.

“I am aware and have it on good authority that the Atiku group held a meeting with three APC Governors in Dubai, but it won’t yield any positive result” Afegbua said.

BREAKING: Atiku Meets Three APC Governors In Dubai, Plots To Manipulate BVAS – Kassim Alleges

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and his supporters met with three governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dubai, according to Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former commissioner for information in the Edo state.

According o Afegbua, the former vice president has also formed a committee to study how to rig the Bimodal Voters’ Accreditation System (BVAS), which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) plans to use for the general elections in 2023.

Speaking in an interview with Ejesgist.ng, Afegbua promised to mention the names of those involved in the plot.

“I am aware and have it on good authority that the Atiku group held a meeting with three APC Governors in Dubai, but it won’t yield any positive result. I am also aware that the Atiku group has set up a committee on INEC with the sole purpose of how to manipulate the BVAS by front loading figures”.

“They have held two meetings in this regard, but yet to conclude on the amount to be paid those who were recruited by the committee. At the appropriate time, I will unveil those involved”.

“Such desperation will not lead Atiku Abubakar anywhere, it will only hurt the graveyard peace that permeates the entire country between the North and South”.

“If you want peace and tranquillity, you must deliberately and consciously promote Southern presidency. Nigeria is too fragile presently, and any attempt to drive the sentiments further can snowball into an avoidable political turmoil whose end you may not discern”.

“Tell Dino Melaye to advise his newfound boss with a nationalistic mindset and not partisan orchestration that will hurt the consciousness of the country. Governor Wike has since become the conscience of this 2023 electoral contest, and his heroic stance with his other colleagues, will factorise the real politics of 2023”.

Bola Tinubu off to Saudi Arabia for medical rest, denies meeting G-5 governors

Bola Tinubu is on a medical journey to Saudi Arabia.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress, denied on Saturday that he recently met with the G-5 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party in London.

According to a statement by Tunde Rahman of the Tinubu Media Office, Tinubu is free to meet with anyone he chooses, but the aforementioned report is false. However, it was noted that the candidate had performed the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.

It stated, “As usual, when the year is coming to a close, he takes a break from his hectic schedule based on doctor advice and travels to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah (Lesser Hajj) and have a rest.

During the week, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was in London en route to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

“While in the United Kingdom, Asiwaju Tinubu noticed articles in some Nigerian national newspapers alleging that he and Peoples Democratic Party-affiliated G-5 governors held a secret meeting in London. These reports are not only made in bad faith but also with malicious intent. They were published to advance the writers’ and their sponsors’ political interests.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, is neither bothered by these articles nor their well-known sponsors. He is resolutely focused on his campaign goals, which are geared toward achieving victory in the upcoming presidential election to implement the APC’s action plan to restore hope to all aspects of our people’s lives.”

The statement emphasised that Tinubu could meet whomever he wished. “It must be noted that the APC presidential candidate has the right to meet with any political actor or stakeholder who is vital to his campaign and plans for the country and who seeks to engage with him.”

Tinubu arrived in London on Christmas Day, spent a few days preparing for his trip to Saudi Arabia, and is currently performing Umrah in Mecca, according to the statement.

It has been widely speculated that Bola  Tinubu is battling undisclosed ailments. The evidence of this speculation can be seen in all of Bola Tinubu’s political outings.

Jigawa Former Deputy Governor and His Supporters Dump APC, Defect To PDP

Ahmed Mahmoud Gumel, the former deputy governor of Jigawa State and prospective APC candidate for governor in 2023, has resigned from the party in power.

Ejesgist.ng reports that he afterwards joined the PDP, the Peoples Democratic Party.

After an emergency meeting, the State PDP Chairman, Ali Dinginsa, revealed his defection in an interview with the Daily Post.

He said that the former deputy governor, along with hundreds of his supporters, left the All Progressives Congress, the party in power, and joined the Peoples Democratic Party.

There are indications that the former Deputy Governor resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, due to ”intra-party conflict, disunity and lack of commitment and confidence in the party stalwarts towards the success of the party for the coming general elections.

Recall that the former Deputy Governor had, in 2015, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a few months before the general election for the All Progressive Congress APC.

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State and a former presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), reaffirmed that he would uphold his commitment to support Atiku Abubakar as the party’s nominee for president in the 2023 elections.

Recall that Wike pledged his support to whoever won the election for the PDP’s presidential standard bearer on May 28, 2022, just before voting began. Atiku, a former vice president, won the presidential primary election with 371 votes, defeating Wike, who received 237 votes in the Federal Capital Territory’s MKO Abiola Stadium.

A few hours later, Atiku paid the Rivers governor a visit at his home in Abuja to extend a hand of friendship and ask for his support in the 2023 presidential election. In response to Atiku’s visit, Governor Wike wrote on his verified Facebook page that the PDP can not be abandoned and that he will fully support the former vice president, as he had previously stated.

“I made a promise to the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Nigeria that I would support whoever won the PDPP presidential primaries, and I am not going to break that promise,” he wrote.

“We will support Atiku Abubakar wholeheartedly, and we can not leave the PDP.” But Wike and four other PDP governors who felt mistreated have stopped supporting Atiku, arguing that the party’s nominee and national chairman can not be from the same region (the North).
