  • 10 Things Every Pregnant Woman Must Know

10 Things Every Pregnant Woman Must Know

You’ve just taken a pregnancy test and it came back positive. Congratulations! This is one of the most heartwarming occasions for many couples, especially in a traditional African (and Nigerian) family, when pregnancy protects one from unpleasant experiences such as anxiety, pressure, and ridicule from family members.

When a lady becomes pregnant in many households, her husband showers her with attention. A pregnant woman enjoys everything at this time, from dates to her spouse taking care of some household duties and even cooking the meals.

Being pregnant, on the other hand, is one thing; successfully giving birth to the baby or infants is another. Medical specialists say it’s sad that some women are unaware of what it takes to have a safe delivery. According to the experts, what a pregnant woman does or does not do during her pregnancy can have an impact on both her and her baby’s health.

Also , Prostate Disease Treatment ,Symptoms, Causes, Warning Signs (How to Use Onion To cure Prostate Disease)

In a September 2019 article, Baby Centre, a London-based medical organisation that studies the causes of miscarriages, stillbirths, and premature deliveries as well as providing pregnancy health information, argues that pregnant women must know the following for a safe delivery.

Leading midwives and gynaecologists were consulted, according to the organisation.

The following guidelines are recommended for every pregnant woman, ranging from activities to meals to drugs that may benefit or damage the baby and mother.

    Exercise on a regular basis

It’s not good for you or your infant to be sedentary (sitting a lot). It increases your chances of gaining too much weight, gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, and varicose veins, as well as shortness of breath and lower back pain.

If you exercised before becoming pregnant, you can keep doing so, but pay attention to your body and slow down if you feel uncomfortable.

You don’t have to join organised fitness courses if you didn’t exercise before becoming pregnant; the key thing is to be active. For pregnant women, 30 minutes of physical activity four times a week is recommended.

Walking, climbing the stairs instead of taking the elevator, gardening, and dancing are all good ways to get some exercise.

Meanwhile, certain workouts should be avoided when pregnant, such as football, rugby, hockey, and martial arts. There is a chance that your bump will get hit because to the manner they are played.

    Maintain a healthy diet.

Some foods, such as toxoplasmosis and listeriosis, carry a slight risk of illness. Salmonella, for example, can cause food poisoning. Others contain excessive amounts of vitamin A or mercury, which can harm your unborn child.

Listeria infection is uncommon, but if you have it, it can harm your unborn child severely. Moldy soft cheese, pâté (including vegetarian pâté), and unpasteurized milk are among the foods that are more likely to have listeria.

Salmonella food infection will not damage your infant, but it will cause severe diarrhoea and vomiting in you. Salmonella is more likely to be found in unpasteurized milk and partially cooked eggs.

Toxoplasmosis infection is uncommon, but if you have it, it can harm your unborn child severely. Uncooked or undercooked meals, raw or partially cooked meat, especially chicken items, and unwashed vegetables and salad are more likely to have the toxoplasma parasite.

Too much vitamin A can harm your unborn child. Liver and liver products, as well as high-dose multivitamin supplements like fish liver oil supplements, are high in vitamin A.

See 12 Benefits Of Vitamin C Supplements, You Should Know Now

Shark, swordfish, marlin, tuna, salmon, trout, mackerel, and herring are all mercury-rich foods that are dangerous to an infant.

Although fish is a good source of nourishment for a baby, experts warn that eating too much of it might be detrimental.

Fish is high in protein, vitamin D, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids, all of which are essential for your baby’s nervous system development.

If you don’t like fish, omega-3 fatty acids can be found in a variety of foods, including nuts, seeds, soy products, and green leafy vegetables like spinach and Brussels sprouts.

Meanwhile, some expectant mothers feel that dieting throughout pregnancy will help them deliver healthy infants.

According to specialists, this is not the case. It’s possible that this will deny your baby of the nutrition he or she requires to grow. Rather than dieting, it is preferable to eat a nutritious, well-balanced diet.

Also, when you’re pregnant, you don’t need to eat for two. In reality, for the first six months of pregnancy, you don’t require any additional calories. You’ll just need 200 calories every day for the next three months.

Keep yourself moisturised as well. To create extra blood and amniotic fluid, you’ll need more water now that you’re pregnant. Drinking enough of water also helps to reduce constipation and fatigue.

Drink at least eight glasses of water each day. Water is the healthiest method to stay hydrated, but fruit teas and skimmed or semi-skimmed milk are alternative possibilities for increasing your regular fluid consumption. Fresh fruit juice is high in vitamin C, but it also contains a lot of sugar, so drink it in moderation.

Take folic acid, vitamin D, and other supplements.

Folic acid virtually completely eliminates the risk of neural tube abnormalities in your kid. It is recommended that you begin taking it three months before to conception. Until the conclusion of the first trimester, take the recommended daily dose (12th week of pregnancy).

Vitamin D aids in the development of healthy bones, teeth, and muscles in the baby, as well as the regulation of calcium and phosphate levels in the mother’s body.

Experts warn that if a pregnant woman has vitamin D insufficiency, darker skin, or experiences less sunlight, taking a daily vitamin D supplement is even more crucial.

Unless your doctor or midwife detects a deficiency, such as iron deficiency, these two supplements (folic acid and vitamin D) are all you need during pregnancy.

Keep an eye on your baby’s movements.

Your baby’s movements indicate that they are healthy. Around week 24, they settle into a regular pattern. Begin monitoring the pattern at this stage, and get aid as soon as possible if you see a decrease in movement.

During the third trimester, sleep on your side.

In the third trimester (weeks 29-40), sleeping on your back doubles your chances of having a stillbirth. For the safety of the baby, it is recommended that you sleep on your side.

Take care of your mental health.

It is estimated that one out of every ten pregnant women suffers from mental illness. This is due to the fact that a woman’s body system changes during pregnancy, resulting in some unusual or unexpected feelings and behaviours.

It is critical for a guy to be the primary motivator for his pregnant wife. When your wife says something provocative to you at this point, be patient and understanding.

Make sure you get your vaccines.

Your doctor or midwife will offer you the whooping cough vaccine to build your antibodies while you’re pregnant. Through the placenta, these antibodies will be passed on to your kid. Getting vaccinated to safeguard your kid is best done between weeks 16 and 32 of pregnancy.

The vaccine can be given at any time after 16 weeks, however it may be less effective if given beyond 38 weeks. You’ll also be offered the flu vaccine, as there’s evidence that getting the flu while pregnant puts you at higher risk of complications.

Keep antenatal notes with you at all times.

Carry your antenatal notes with you wherever you go because they contain your medical and pregnancy history.

This is especially vital if you need to go to the maternity unit on short notice, as this is the only way health experts will be able to access your medical history and know what has been going on with your pregnancy.

Traveling after 37 weeks is not advised.

Some ladies claim that the optimum time for vacations while pregnancy is in the third trimester. In the first 12 weeks, nausea and exhaustion are common, and the risk of miscarriage is increased in the first three months.

Traveling in the later months of pregnancy, though, can be exhausting and difficult. After 37 weeks, your chances of going into labour are higher, and some airlines will refuse to let you fly (if you’re flying).

Long-distance travel (five hours or more) by road, air, or other means carries a small risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT or blood clots), so stay hydrated and move around as much as possible.

Take no drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes.

Cocaine, meta-amphetamines, cannabis, and other psychoactive substances are all known to increase the risk of developing health problems in both the mother and the baby. Also, avoid consuming alcohol during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, when the baby’s brain is undergoing rapid development. Staying away from cigarettes comes with a slew of health risks.

Finally, excessive caffeine consumption during pregnancy can result in low birth weight babies, raising the risk of health problems later in life. Caffeine intoxication has also been linked to miscarriage.

In response to the above, Dr Kemi Oladapo, a Lagos-based health expert, advised pregnant women to always ask questions as their bodies react during each trimester of the pregnancy.

She also advised women to have regular intercourse with their husbands, claiming that it would help to open the cervix more quickly during labour, allowing the baby to be delivered more easily.

“However, depending on the trimester, there are sex positions to avoid during pregnancy.”

Oladapo also recommended pregnant women to be mindful of the following signs in order to determine the health of their unborn child.

“Pregnant women should be aware of the following symptoms and seek advice from a midwife or doctor if they see them,” she advised. Vaginal bleeding, painful urination, sudden, sharp, or continuing abdominal pain or cramps, and a persistent or severe headache are all symptoms.

“Others are swelling in the face, hands or legs; blurred vision or spots in front of eyes; itching, especially on the hands or feet; baby’s movements slowing down or changing; and excessive or smelly vaginal discharge.”

US: House Of Reps Bans TikTok From Official Devices

According to an internal notice distributed to House staff, TikTok is no longer permitted on electronic devices under the control of the US House of Representatives.

Users who download the short-form video app on any House mobile device will be asked to uninstall the programme, according to the notice provided by the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer.

TikTok is described as posing a “high risk to users due to a number of security risks” in the warning.

Separately, as part of the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill that is awaiting President Joe Biden’s signature, TikTok is soon anticipated to be banned from all federal devices.

The action follows the recent implementation of similar restrictions against TikTok on government-owned devices by more than a dozen states.

Ban attempts against the app have been described by TikTok as “a political gesture that will not advance national security interests.”

The Chinese government could exert pressure on TikTok or its parent company, ByteDance, to hand over the personal information of its US users, which could then be used for Chinese intelligence operations or the dissemination of disinformation backed by the Chinese government, according to US policymakers who have identified TikTok as a potential national security risk.

Although the business last week confirmed that it terminated four employees who improperly accessed the TikTok user data of two journalists on the platform, there is no proof that this has actually happened.

Since 2020, TikTok has been in talks with the US government about a potential agreement to allay the national security worries and let US users continue to use the app.

According to TikTok, “key concerns around corporate governance, content recommendation and moderation, and data security and access” are covered by the potential agreement under review.

Additionally, the company has made some organisational and technological changes to wall off US user data from other areas of TikTok’s business.

However, a perceived lack of development in the negotiations has prompted some of TikTok’s detractors, including those in Congress and at the state level, to push for the app’s ban from government devices and possibly a wider range of devices.

As an average or even a highly successful student, you will have been among the best, but you will always feel unprepared for what JAMB will throw at you.

Your academic workload will skyrocket, but we’ve prepared some helpful tips and advice for you. If you are the type to read this, you will not only breeze through high school, but you will also enjoy it. The following are suggestions for maximising UTME:

    1. Prepare:

Before embarking on a journey, it is prudent to prepare. Plan when you will take your exams, when you will travel, how you will do it, what you will bring, and much more.

This does not imply that you should be rigid, but rather that you should have a plan. Without a plan, you will fail or repeat JAMB. You should also have a reading schedule.

    2. Stay  Healthy

As much as you schedule time for reading, discussions, and classes, never disregard the importance of rest.

Sleep is an essential component of good health and academic performance. In addition to resting, ensure that you undergo regular checkups to ensure that you are in good health before taking the exams.

    3. Exam Preparation and Methods of Study.

The best way to earn top grades is not to cram before an exam; instead, find a method of studying that works for you and stick to it. Study sessions are ideal for this, as the group can generate excellent ideas, assistance, and support. Perform practice exams with answer sheets to gauge your performance.

Ask your instructors or tutors to review them and provide feedback on how to improve your weaknesses. You will be surprised to discover how much you have forgotten after reviewing your class notes.

The classes you took in school and tutorials serve as the foundation for the exams, and you should place greater emphasis on those topics.

    4. Planning and Getting Help.

It is easy to misplace one’s priorities, so make an effort to concentrate on what is essential. You have an exam the following week, but you are preoccupied with something else that seems more pressing at the time. If you plan, you will not be in a state of panic or stress due to a lack of time. If you are struggling with a subject, seek additional assistance from your tutor or a reputable peer.

There are numerous avenues through which you can disseminate assistance. With the aid of a skilled private tutor, numerous students achieve excellent grades.

    5. Self Discipline.

This is a problem for the vast majority of jambutes. There are numerous activities and people to meet while at home. Enjoy yourself, but don’t lose sight of your destination. The best students are provided with the best distractions. You should be the centre of attention, not your peers. It is accurate to say that the admissions process is competitive.

    6. Choosing Topics.

Now that you have completed the syllables for your chosen subjects, you are aware of which subjects you performed well in and where your weaknesses lie. You should not exclude certain topics in favour of your favourites. Just try your hardest to leave no stone unturned.

    7. Love the Library.

Learn to appreciate the library; it should be your closest companion. If you are still in high school or if you have access to a good library nearby, you should not hesitate to utilise it. It will contain resources that are indispensable to your success. Attending the library keeps you in touch with physical individuals and fellow aspirants who may be of assistance to you in some way.

    8. Fun Time.

Stress can be extremely debilitating, and having fun and exercising is the most effective way to prevent stress accumulation.

    9. Self-Assessments:

Learn to assess yourself after reading.  This is the most important aspect of your pre-college experience and will largely determine your future as a college student. Review everything you’ve learned over the past year(s), hold discussion classes, rest, eat well, calm your nerves, and above all, pray!

With these tips, there is no excuse for failure once you enter law school, and it is never too late to apply if you are already enrolled.

    Recommended.

    10. Follow the syllabus.

For you to pass jamb in one sitting, you must make sure you cover all the major topics in your syllabus. You should try by all means to touch all the key topics in your subject area. And don’t waste too much time on the topic you already mastered.

“The pains we are still feeling now are because of the disdainful attitude demonstrated by the Deputy Governorship candidate without considering how these young orphans would be raised and developed without their parents,” Inyang said. “The couple killed by her convoy died and left behind three young children.”

Samuel Duncan, the senator’s media assistant, provided a different account of the events in a statement.

According to Duncan, the couple’s murderer was “a hit-and-run driver in a Toyota Sienna.”

The statement reads: “Following reports of an accident that occurred around the Obong-Itam stretch of the Calabar-Itu Highway on December 23, 2022, we have received a flood of calls and concerns from friends, colleagues, associates, supporters, and well-wishers over the safety of Senator Akon Eyakenyi, representing Akwa Ibom South District and PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate.

“A hit-and-run driver in a Toyota Sienna collided with a motorbike carrying a woman at an intersection, throwing both the rider and passenger into the right of way of the vehicle carrying Senator Eyakenyi as she was travelling to represent PDP Governorship Candidate, Pst. Umo Eno, at an event in Uruan LGA.

Eyewitnesses struggled in vain to clear the convoy of any wrongdoing in the incident, and Senator Eyakenyi stood by to restrain her security aides from engaging in physical altercation with the enraged mob, which led to the unprovoked attack on the senator’s vehicle that was depicted in some sections of the media.

“Our office has reported the incident to the Police in the hopes that the hit-and-run driver will be found, and we want to reiterate our commitment to working with them to bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.

We express our condolences to the families of the unfortunate victims and disapprove of any efforts to politicise the preventable spill.

Did Pele Die Right After Celebrating Christmas? What we know

Did football legend Pele die on Christmas, or right after celebrating Christmas?!

Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : Pele Died After Celebrating Christmas!

People are sharing a screenshot of an article claiming that Pele has died in a São Paulo hospital, written by Jon Whitman on Monday, December 26, 2022.

The screenshot does not mention how Pele died, or when he died, but the date suggests that he died on Christmas Day, or right after celebrating Christmas.

Did Pele Die Right After Celebrating Christmas?!

Truth : Pele Did Not Die (Yet) After Celebrating Christmas

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS that has been spread via WhatsApp and other forms of social media; the reasons why are as follows…

Fact #1 : Pele Admitted To Hospital In November 2022

Let me begin by providing some background information on Pele’s recent health issues.

In September 2021, a tumour was removed from the right side of the Brazilian football legend’s colon. A few days after his eldest daughter, Kely, reported that he was “doing well,” he was reportedly admitted to intensive care. However, on September 30, 2021, he was released to begin chemotherapy.

On November 29, 2022, he was admitted to the Hospital Israelita A. Einstein in So Paulo for a reevaluation of his chemotherapy and treatment of a respiratory infection.

The hospital issued a statement last week indicating that Pele’s cancer had progressed and that he was also experiencing renal and cardiac dysfunctions.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, admitted since November 29 for a reevaluation of chemotherapy therapy for a colon tumour and treatment of a respiratory infection, exhibits progression of the oncological disease and necessitates increased care for renal and cardiac dysfunctions.

The patient remains hospitalised in a common room, receiving the required medical care.

Fact #4 : Pele Is Still Alive As Of December 28

Pele is still alive as of December 28, 2022, two days after the alleged publication of an article announcing his death.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent with him at the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital by his family.

Our Christmas celebration at home has been postponed. We agreed with the doctors that, for a variety of reasons, it would be best for us to remain in Einstein’s care with our new family!

On Boxing Day, allegedly the day Pele passed away, Kely Nascimento posted about enduring “another night with him.”

Even though we are spending Christmas in the hospital, we are cognizant of the privilege it is to be in a hospital such as @hosp einstein.

To see our father being treated by such competent and compassionate professionals. This privilege is not forgotten for a single second. Even in times of sorrow, we can only be grateful.

Thank you for being together, for your affection, and for allowing me to be with him right now. We wish you a Merry Christmas.

Today and always, I wish you all abundant health, love, joy, laughter, and passion. Another evening with him

Did Pele Die Right After Celebrating Christmas?!

Fact #3 : Pele Was Not Suffering From COVID-19

People initially believed that Pele was afflicted with COVID-19, but his eldest daughter Kely Nascimento explained that he had previously contracted the coronavirus and now had a lung infection.

About three weeks ago, he was diagnosed with Covid. He is immunised with all available vaccines, but he contracted a lung infection due to the chemotherapy, which is fragile.

He went to the hospital as a result of the lung infection. Is he sincere? Due to his advanced age, he is currently treating cancer.

    Fact #4 : Pele Was Fully-Vaccinated Against COVID-19

Undoubtedly, anti-vaccination activists will attribute Pele’s health issues to the COVID-19 vaccine.

First, I should note that, yes, Pele is fully immunised against COVID-19. Despite his poor health, he was able to overcome a COVID-19 infection through this method.

    COVID-

Vaccines cannot cause colon cancer, despite what antivaccine activists may claim. It takes years for colon cancer to develop.

Fact #5 : Jon Whitman Writes For Thaiger

The article on Pele’s death was allegedly written by Jon Whitman – a writer for the Thai website, Thaiger.

It is unknown if the screenshot was photo-edited or if the Thaiger published an obituary for Pele in error and quickly retracted it. The article is unavailable / has been removed from the Thaiger website.

It is possible that Pele will pass away in a hospital in So Paulo, but as of 28 December 2022, this is not the case as he is still alive.

More Troubles For ASUU, As Reps Speaker Gbajabiamila Denies Promising FG’ll Pay Salary Arrears

More troubles for ASUU, as Reps Speaker Gbajabiamila denies promising FG’ll pay salary arrears

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was not promised payment of salary arrears by the Nigerian government, according to the House of Representatives’ statement on Wednesday.

Ben Kalu, the House’s spokesman, said this in a statement.

On Tuesday, ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke charged Gbajabiamila with misleading the organization into ending its strike.

Osodeke also alleged that the speaker had presented a paper signed by him to ASUU leadership indicating the readiness of the government to pay in full the eight-month salaries to its members as well as attend to other grievances of the union.

Osodeke was quoted as saying: “Here we are till today, nothing has been done over the promise and that is why the Speaker did not say anything tangible since then at least on the issues let alone ensure that his promises are carried out.”

Kalu, who responded to the allegation, said the speaker never promised the union such.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the House to the concerns of the lecturers as contained in the 2023 Appropriation Bill, where N170 billion and N300 billion were set side for their welfare package and revitalization of universities respectively.

“No point did the Speaker of the House of Representatives commit to offset the arrears of salaries owed to union members for the time they were on strike”, Kalu said.

“It is now clear that ASUU President had-faith approach to negotiations and his affinity for political brinkmanship are significant reasons the universities were on strike for so long”, he added.

It would be recalled that the suspension of the eight-month strike had followed the intervention by the House of Representatives led by Femi Gbajabiamila.

The union had been mandated by the National Industrial Court to suspend its strike as a precondition for the consideration of its appeal.

Tinubu and G-5 Governors Meet In Europe To Finalise Deal On 2023, As Asiwaju’s Camp Agrees To Respect All Agreements

Tinubu and G-5 hovernors meet in Europe to finalise deal on 2023, as Asiwaju’s camp agrees to respect all agreements

To finalise the deal on the 2023 presidency, five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to meet with the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ejesgist.ng has reliably gathered.

A reliable source close to the former Lagos State governor, said barring any last-minute change, the meeting will be held in one of the European countries this week.

The source, who refused to give the exact date of the meeting, however, said it is being conveyed to firm up their deal on the 2023 presidency with the governors.

He said the G-5 governors, comprising Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) would after the meeting make their preferred presidential candidate known to the public.

The governors, it was gathered, are already in the United Kingdom ahead of the meeting.

“The support by G5 for Tinubu is going to be a game changer, akin to the declaration of the G6 for the APC in 2014.

“We are meeting with the group this week in Europe to firm up the arrangement. They are first-class nationalists who believe in the Nigeria project, and we shall work together for the good of the nation,” he said.

Arising from the presidential primaries of the PDP that produced a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, Daily Trust reports that there has been a crisis rocking the leading opposition party.

The nomination of the Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as the vice presidential candidate ballooned the internal wrangling with the five governors calling for the head of the national chairSenator Iyorchia Ayu.

Several efforts by the various organs of the party to pacify the governors have hit the rock.

G-5 govs mum as Nigerians await Wike’s announcement January

Efforts to get the reaction of the aggrieved governors yielded no results as the spokesperson for Wike, Kelvin Ebiri, and Makinde’s Taiwo Adisa did not pick up their calls at the time of filing this report. But Wike had on Thursday said he would disclose his preferred presidential candidate in January 2023.

Speaking, while commissioning a project in Port Harcourt, Wike said he would not only tell his people who to vote for but will campaign for his choice of presidential candidate throughout the country. “Nothing will happen.”

“So, all of you who have been in suspense, who have been saying all kinds of things, abusing me; wait, January is here,” he said.

In October, the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, while speaking through his deputy, Bayo Lawal, endorsed the candidature of Tinubu.

Similarly, the Benue State governor Samuel Ortom had in November said he would not support Atiku’s presidential bid.

Ortom, who spoke when he hosted his colleagues in Makurdi, said “To hell with Atiku and anyone supporting him. They should go and tell him. You want me to be a slave for a Fulani. It’s better I die. Anybody supporting Atiku is an enemy of Benue”

Our decision to be guided by Asaba declaration – Rivers gov’s ally

Sources in Wike-led Integrity Group told Daily Trust last night that a final decision on the matter was not yet reached, though they both hinted at the possibility of the Rivers’ governor declaring support for Tinubu

One of them, a close associate of Wike, said “There are only four candidates, it’s only one of them that we are not considering. We are yet to settle down on anyone. But our watchword is equity, justice, and what can bring about peace and stability in this country. It is in line with the Asaba Declaration.

But whoever we will settle on must have the needed strength and capacity,” he said.

In May last year, the 17 governors who are from the Southern part of the country met in Asaba, Delta State, where they made a 12-point declaration, including the zoning of the presidency to the south.

Another source, who is a member of the group, said there may be a split at the end of the day as the five governors and other chieftains may not go in one direction.

“Wike can support Tinubu, but I don’t see some others in the group, like Ortom, going in the same direction. The two governors from the South East may also find it hard going against PDP and LP to support APC considering the political realities of their states,” he said.

The source said Wike had extended invitations to members of the group to attend the commissioning of the 11th and 12th bridges in the Port Harcourt later in January, adding that the event may be used to parley on the next line of action for the group.

    G-5 alliance won’t affect Atiku’s victory – Campaign council

Contacted, a spokesperson for the campaign council of Atiku, Senator Dino Melaye, said the alliance won’t affect the victory of Atiku in 2023.

In a phone interview, Melaye told this paper Tuesday that they are waiting for the next line of action of the aggrieved governors.

“We are waiting for his announcement. That’s all,” he said, but when asked whether the alignment would affect Atiku’s chances, he added, “Not at all. Nigerians are already queueing behind Atiku. By God’s grace, he is the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A source in Atiku’s camp told this paper that the five governors are against the former vice president, “because they want to actualise the southern presidency.

“They are against Atiku’s candidacy because they pushed for the southern presidency. We are aware of their plot, and we are watching, but what they don’t know is that Nigerians are resolute to vote out APC for PDP to take over, “he said.

We will respect all agreements – Asiwaju’s associate

A member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council said all agreements with the five governors would be respected.

“Wike’s movement and key members of our team are like-minded and contemporaries. We are going to honour and respect all commitments we have entered into with them,” he said.

Reminded that one of the aggrieved governors, Ortom was inching towards Obi, the party chief, a former governor said; “For Peter Obi, the political arithmetic does not add up No one bludgeons his way to the Nigerian Presidency through insults, threats, and blackmail. It’s by building bridges that leaders emerge in Nigeria.”

Ortom had described Obi as the best person who can solve Nigeria’s socioeconomic problems.

Ohanaeze Youth Attack Governor Wike Over Igbo Presidency

Ohanaeze Youth attack Governor Wike over Igbo presidency

In light of the political machinations taking place within the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, in the run-up to the 2023 presidential election, the youth arm of the leading Igbo sociocultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, has once more taken a harsh stance against Governor Nyewom Wike of Rivers State.

Currently abroad, Governor Wike and his irate G-5 governors are anticipated to make a final decision on the nominee for the nation’s top political position.

They are likely to choose between Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, having fallen out of favour with their party’s candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar

In a statement made available to the media on Wednesday, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike described Wike’s movement as one driven by selfish interest.

Okwu, who berated the Rivers Governor for working against a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction, said Wike was now playing the ostrich.

“We want to tell Nigerians not to be deceived by the likes of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who claims to be fighting against injustice in the PDP, whereas he is merely pursuing selfish interests.

“It is on record that Governor Wike scuttled the micro-zoning of the PDP presidential ticket to the South-East because he felt he would bamboozle his way and get the ticket. But having failed to realise that selfish ambition, he turned to be shouting for justice and equity.

“Where was the equity when he chased Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party out of PDP? Where was equity when he refused all entreaties to back someone from the South-East for the PDP ticket? Now that he failed to clinch to the ticket, he now realises there is equity.

“Nigerians should not be deceived by Wike’s gimmicks. I also urged the governors to move with him to realise that he is pursuing a personal agenda. There is nothing like integrity in what he is doing, so his claim of leading ‘an integrity group’ should be discarded,” the Igbo youth president declared.

He added that as Nigerians await an announcement from the G-5 governors, “the citizens should not expect anything different but one that will be laced with personal desires and gains.”
