Umahi Disgraced at APC Rally in Kaduna as Microphone Is Taken Away During Speech
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, experienced an awkward moment at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Kaduna State on Saturday after the microphone he was using to address President Bola Tinubu and other party leaders was taken away before he could finish speaking.
The incident, captured in a video circulating on social media, interrupted Umahi’s remarks and sparked attention among viewers who watched the footage.
Umahi, who was addressing the gathering, was seen expressing his respect for the president before making a request for Tinubu to officially commission a road project.
“With all humility, our dear President, our dear President and father, I request that you come over here to officially commission this very important route,” the minister said.
However, before he could complete his remarks, the microphone was taken away from him, abruptly bringing his speech to an end.
The footage did not immediately establish why the microphone was taken away or whether the action was deliberate. There was also no immediate official explanation regarding the circumstances surrounding the interruption.
The incident occurred during the APC’s campaign rally in Kaduna, which was attended by President Tinubu, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, his wife, and other prominent party members.
The rally formed part of the party’s political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with senior APC figures and supporters gathering to demonstrate their support for the president and the ruling party.
Umahi, a former governor of Ebonyi State, currently oversees the Federal Ministry of Works, which is responsible for major federal road infrastructure projects across the country.
Although the microphone incident appeared brief, the video has drawn attention because it involved a serving minister addressing the president at a major party gathering.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no confirmed explanation from the minister or the APC regarding the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the interruption remain unclear, and the available footage alone does not establish whether the microphone was taken away intentionally or as part of the event’s proceedings.
