President Bola Tinubu Suspends National Social Investment Programme Amidst Allegations.

President Bola Tinubu has taken a decisive step by suspending all administered programmes under the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

This action comes in the wake of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in the management of the agency and its various programmes.

The suspension, outlined in a statement signed by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, encompasses all four programmes administered by NSIPA.

These include the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and the Home Grown School Feeding Programme. The suspension is set to endure for a period of six weeks in the first instance.

President Tinubu expressed significant concerns about operational lapses and improprieties surrounding payments to beneficiaries of the NSIPA programmes. In response to these concerns, he has instituted a ministerial panel tasked with conducting a thorough review of the agency’s operations.

The panel’s primary objective is to recommend necessary reforms that will enhance the effectiveness and transparency of the NSIPA.

During the suspension period, all NSIPA-related activities, including distributions, events, payments, collaborations, and registrations, are frozen. This move underscores the gravity of the situation and the commitment to a comprehensive evaluation of the agency’s functioning.

President Tinubu has assured stakeholders and the Nigerian populace that his administration remains dedicated to a swift and unbiased process. The ultimate goal is to ensure that, moving forward, social intervention programmes operate precisely as intended, providing optimal benefits to the most vulnerable Nigerians.

As the investigation unfolds and the ministerial panel delves into the intricacies of NSIPA’s operations, the suspension sends a clear message about the commitment to accountability and transparency in social intervention initiatives.
