President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
In addition to Argungu’s appointment, Tinubu appointed Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary of the council and retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Taiwo Lakanu as a Member of the Commission.

A statement released on Monday by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, outlined that these appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
“The President has approved the appointment of DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd) as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC). The President has also approved the appointment of Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as a Member of the Commission. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate,” the statement read.
The statement further mentioned that additional members of the Police Service Commission will be appointed in due course.

Furthermore, Mr. Mohammed Sheidu has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), effective immediately.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal in executing these roles for the betterment of the Nigeria Police and the nation as a whole.
These appointments signify President Tinubu’s commitment to reform and modernize the Nigeria Police Force, aiming to transform it into a professional and accountable institution.
