Former Super Eagles Coach and midfielder, Sunday Oliseh has revealed why he resigned as head coach.

Oliseh made this known in an interview with News Central Africa on Wednesday.

Sunday Oliseh was appointed by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) in July 2015, Oliseh stepped down in February 2016, a decision that significantly affected the team.

He cited a lack of support from employers, players, and the media as the main reasons for his resignation.

“I led the Super Eagles for fourteen games, securing four wins and only two losses. One of the losses was a friendly against Congo in Belgium,” Oliseh recounted. “I worked for four months without pay, and my assistants went unpaid for six months.

After falling ill and receiving no support, I spent thousands of dollars on my recovery. Despite my efforts, I was mocked by some media friends for my illness. I resigned because I lacked support.”

He emphasized that his resignation occurred while Nigeria was still poised to qualify for the 2017 Nations Cup. “Nigeria just needed to beat Egypt to qualify,” Oliseh noted.
