Political Turmoil in Rivers as Another Factional Speaker Emerges, Video Surfaces
Port Harcourt, Rivers state – A fresh twist has unfolded in the political turmoil gripping Rivers State as a factional speaker, Victor Oko Jumbo, has emerged in the state house of assembly.
The emergence of Jumbo, representing the Bonny constituency, has dealt a blow to the peace deal brokered between the parties by President Bola Tinubu, catapulting all parties involved back into a state of conflict.

The location of the election that resulted in Jumbo’s emergence, a staunch supporter of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, remains unclear.
According to report, Jumbo replaces the former factional speaker of the house, Edison Ehie, who resigned from both his position as speaker and member of the house on December 31, 2023. Subsequently, Ehie was appointed as the Chief of Staff (CoS) to Governor Fubara.
Despite the peace deal brokered by President Tinubu in December 2023, the political crisis in the prominent south-south state continues to escalate.
The rift between Governor Fubara and his mentor, Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), intensified over disagreements regarding the control of political structures and governance in the oil-rich state.
