Open Heaven 8 July 2026 is now available.
Today’s Open Heaven devotional, written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, carries the theme “Exceed In Prayer”. The devotional is based on the memory verse from Ephesians 6:18, which says, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
The message draws inspiration from the story of Jacob in Genesis 32:24-30, where he wrestled with an angel until he obtained a blessing that changed his life forever. This year’s RCCG Annual Convention theme is “Mountain Movers,” and the fasting and prayer points for Day 4 focus on thanksgiving for the power of God that moves mountains.
Today’s Powerful Confession: I confess today that by the help of the Holy Spirit I pray without ceasing, remain steadfast in God’s presence, and through persistent prayer I will continually experience divine victory and transformation in Jesus’ name. Let Somebody Shout Hallelujah!
The Message Behind Today’s Open Heaven
In the devotional, Pastor Adeboye shares a personal testimony about his Father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, who came to stay with him in 1975. Even though it was a humble mud house plastered with cement, Pastor Adeboye was happy to host his spiritual father. When night came, they prayed together, but after Pastor Adeboye went to bed, he noticed Pa Akindayomi remained on his knees. When he woke up in the middle of the night and again around 5am, the old man was still praying.

Worried, Pastor Adeboye asked if there was a problem, and Pa Akindayomi simply replied that he would soon understand. Since then, Pastor Adeboye has followed in his footsteps and truly understands that believers ought to pray without ceasing, as stated in 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
The message emphasizes that many believers only pray when they are facing challenges. When things are going well, they see no reason to pray. However, God has called all His children to a life of prayer. No matter how much you pray now, you can always go higher in the place of prayer. Never let your current prayer lifestyle, no matter how vibrant you think it is, make you feel as if you are doing your best. Keep pushing to be better so you don’t begin to relax and lose your fervency.
Pastor Adeboye also shares how he once went with six of his best friends to Ilorin to pray for 36 hours nonstop. Afterward, they felt they had achieved something unbelievable, but the following week, he was told about a man who prayed nonstop for 30 days. This teaches us that there is always higher ground in prayer. God wants you to keep going higher in the place of prayer.

Special Note for Open Heaven for today 2026
These prayer points were not written by Pastor E. A. Adeboye but by one of his numerous disciples who was inspired and mandated by the Holy Spirit to write these prayer points based on the Open Heavens Daily Devotional. Some of the prayer points are deep spiritually and may not be understood by carnal minds. These prayers have no expiry date. Please pray them, irrespective of the time they get to you. Remain blessed, in Jesus’ name.
To Fully Benefit From These Prayers
You must first accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior by saying this prayer:
Lord Jesus, I come before You today with a broken and contrite heart full of repentance. Please, forgive me for all my sins. Today, I surrender my life to You, I believe that Jesus is Lord and I confess it with my mouth. Jesus, come into my life and save my soul from eternal destruction. In Jesus’ name, I pray. AMEN!
If you participated in that life-changing prayer, congratulations! We are so excited you surrendered your life to Jesus!
