Invasion of Labour Party was totally unexpected— Suswam

Former Benue State governor and Senator representing Benue North East senatorial district, Senator Gabriel Suswam has said that if Labour party can replicate the performance it showed in the just concluded 2023 general elections, it will change the Nigerian political dynamics moving forward.

Speaking about the performance of the Labour Party in an interview with our correspondent , Senator Gabriel Suswam said, “the invasion of Labour Party was totally unexpected. Unfortunately, people had thought that Labour would be able to gain like five Governors or so, but so far they’ve only gotten one Governor which is totally different from what happened in the presidential election.

So if what happens with Labour happens moving forward, I believe that the dynamics will totally be different in the Nigerian politics because what Labour has shown to Nigerians is that it is possible to have someone come up who will win this election, just like Obama did in America, without necessarily having the so called structure that we pride ourselves in as politicians.

Labour Party didn’t have structure that one would expect that they would put up that kind of performance. But the performance was a surprise to virtually everybody.”
