Alhaji Bashir Barau Mangal, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Max Air, has passed away.
Bashir, the younger brother of the business magnate and Chairman of Max Air, Alhaji Dahiru Bara’u Mangal, died of a brief illness early yesterday morning in Abuja.
The deceased was described as an experienced administrator, an excellent manager of human and material resources, a shrewd investor, and a gentleman whose words were his bonds.

Bashir Mangal was the driving force behind the establishment of Max Air. He and his brother worked tirelessly to make their dream of operating a successful airline a reality.
The airline was founded as Mangal Airlines in 2006 and renamed Max Air in 2008. From Kano, the airline operated its first commercial flight to King Abdulaziz International Airport.
The airline launched its Umrah and Hajj operation services with two Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
Max Air operates a domestic, regional, and international flight network and is one of Nigeria’s premier airlines.

In June 2018, Max Air launched domestic service to three destinations, including Abuja and Lagos, from its main hub (Kano). As part of its expansion efforts, Max Air announced two new domestic routes on November 1, 2018, including Port Harcourt and Yola.
