Suspected Herdsmen Kill NSCDC Commander,  APC Secretary

Herdsmen Attack Claims Two Lives in Benue State, Including NSCDC Commander

A tragic incident occurred in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in the death of Mr. Mike Ode, a commander of the agro-ranger of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Benue State Command. He was brutally killed at Shaapera village during a special assignment.

The deceased’s uncle, Nicholas Ode, confirmed that Mike Ode was gunned down along with up to 10 suspected herdsmen during a gun duel, while other civil defense personnel escaped . The corpse has been deposited at the morgue of Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi .

Condemnation and Response from NSCDC

The spokesperson of the Corps in the state, Superintendent of Corps, Mike Ejelikwu, confirmed the incident and expressed that the death of the personnel would not deter the command from performing its constitutional mandate of providing security for every law-abiding citizen in the state.

NSCDC has a specialized squad called the Agro Rangers, located across Gwer West, Logo, Apa, Kwande, and Guma, among others, to provide security for agro-allied investment

In a similar development, suspected herdsmen have killed the secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Gaambe Ushin council ward, also Gwer-West LGA, Mr. Bartholomew Uchasue. He was killed on the Naka-Agagbe road.
