1. Overview

This page explains the licensing terms for all products published by Ejes Gist Media Limited under the Ejesgist Developer brand:

• Rankwell Press Theme - WordPress news theme
• Rankwell SEO - On-page SEO audit plugin (Free & Pro)
• BotFend - Anti-bot firewall plugin (Free & Pro)

Our free versions are released under the GNU General Public License v2.0 or later (GPL v2+), in full compliance with the WordPress.org plugin and theme directory requirements. Our Pro versions are licensed under a separate commercial agreement, also GPL-compatible as required by WordPress.

2. WordPress Compliance Statement

All our WordPress products comply with the WordPress licensing guidelines:

• Every PHP, JavaScript, and CSS file shipped with our plugins and themes is licensed under GPL v2 or later, the same license WordPress itself uses.
• We do not impose restrictions that conflict with the four freedoms granted by the GPL.
• Any third-party libraries bundled with our products are checked for GPL compatibility before inclusion, and their original licenses are preserved in full.
• The full source code of every distributed file is available to the end user, as required by the GPL.

3. Free Version License (GPL v2 or Later)

The free versions of Rankwell SEO and BotFend are released under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or (at your option) any later version.

Under the GPL you are free to:

• Use the software for any purpose, including commercial sites.
• Study how the software works and modify it to suit your needs.
• Redistribute copies to others.
• Improve the software and release your improvements to the public.

4. Pro Version License (Commercial + GPL Compatible)

When you purchase a Pro license for Rankwell Press Theme, Rankwell SEO Pro, or BotFend Pro, you are granted a commercial license with the following terms:

4.1 Grant of License

Upon successful payment, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the product on one (1) WordPress installation per license key, for the duration of the purchased term (usually 12 months).

The PHP, JavaScript, and CSS code of the Pro version remains licensed under GPL v2 or later, as required by WordPress. The commercial agreement covers support, updates, and license-key enforcement — not the code license itself.

4.2 What Your License Includes

• Use of the Pro product on one production site
• Access to all product updates during the license term
• Priority email support during the license term
• Security patches and compatibility fixes for the same period

4.3 What Your License Does Not Include

• Use on multiple production sites (each site needs its own license key)
• Reselling, redistributing, or sublicensing the Pro version as a stand-alone product
• Removing or altering copyright or license notices embedded in the code
• Using our brand name, logos, or trademarks in derivative products without permission

4.4 Renewals

Pro licenses are valid for 12 months from purchase. Renewal is optional. If you choose not to renew, you may continue using the last version you downloaded, but you will no longer receive updates or support.

5. GPL Rights Preserved

Because WordPress itself is GPL-licensed, all WordPress themes and plugins distributed publicly — including Pro versions — are considered derivative works and inherit the GPL.

This means that even after your commercial support term ends, you retain the GPL rights to the code:

• You may continue using the software indefinitely.
• You may modify it for your own use.
• You may redistribute it under the terms of the GPL.

What expires is not your right to use the software, but your access to updates, support, and the license key that unlocks Pro features.

6. Third-Party Libraries

Our products may include open-source libraries. Each library retains its original license, and the respective copyright notices are preserved in the product's source files.

If you believe a third-party library has been included without proper attribution, please contact us at [email protected] and we will correct it immediately.

7. Refunds

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all Pro purchases. If you are not satisfied for any reason, contact [email protected] within 30 days of purchase with your transaction details, and we will issue a full refund.

Refunds are not provided for renewals. After 30 days, no refunds will be issued.

8. Attribution and Branding

You may not use the names "Rankwell Press", "Rankwell SEO", "BotFend", or "Ejesgist" — or any confusingly similar names — in derivative products, forks, or services without written permission.

You may, however, state factually that your product "works with" or "integrates with" our products.

9. Warranty and Liability

Our products are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ejes Gist Media Limited shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use our products, including loss of data, profits, or business interruption.

This disclaimer does not affect your statutory rights under Nigerian consumer law or the laws of your jurisdiction.

10. Compliance with WordPress.org Guidelines

Our free products hosted on WordPress.org comply fully with the directory's guidelines, including:

• Human-readable code with no obfuscation or hidden functionality
• No tracking, phoning home, or unauthorized data collection
• No admin notices used for promotional purposes outside the permitted scope
• GPL-compatible licensing of all included code
• No external service dependencies that require the user to register without clear disclosure
