Dowden Becomes UK Deputy PM After Raab’s Resignation
Oliver Dowden was appointed as the United Kingdom’s deputy prime minister on Friday, April 21.
He replaced Dominic Raab, who resigned on Friday after being accused of bullying government employees during his tenure.

Raab, who also resigned as secretary of justice, stated in his resignation letter that he felt “duty-bound to accept the outcome of the inquiry” but that it “dismissed all but two of the allegations made against me.”
Dowden’s appointment as deputy prime minister by Sunak solidifies his reputation in government as the prime minister’s right-hand man, following his tenure in the Cabinet Office where he coordinated the government’s response to winter strikes.

Ejes Gist News Nigeria gathered that Dowden served as culture, media, and sport secretary in Boris Johnson’s government for 18 months, during which time he provided emergency funding for the arts during the pandemic and banned Huawei from UK 5G networks.
In addition, Alex Chalk was appointed as the new minister of justice, a position previously held by Raab.
