Former Nigerian Minister has been confirmed dead.
Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, Nigeria’s first Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, has passed away at the age of 96. The business mogul, who played a crucial role in the development of Abuja, breathed his last on Saturday, July 1, 2023. The sad news was confirmed by Oluremi Ajose-Adeogun, a member of the family, in a statement released on Monday.
In the statement, Oluremi Ajose-Adeogun conveyed the family’s announcement regarding the demise of their revered patriarch. Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, FCIS, CON, JP, was a beloved figure who served as the Minister under the General Muritala Mohammed military government. During his tenure as the FCT minister, he spearheaded the Master Plan of Abuja, leaving an indelible mark on the nation’s capital.

Prior to his appointment as the FCT minister, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun served with distinction as a two-term Federal Commissioner for Cooperatives and Supply in August 1975. Recognizing his exceptional abilities, he was later appointed as the Federal Commissioner for Special Duties at the Federal Capital Development Authority.
Throughout his life, Ajose-Adeogun held various significant positions. He enjoyed a successful career at the Shell Petroleum Development Company and made notable contributions to the realms of Manufacturing and Real Estate. Additionally, he held the esteemed title of chief of Ita-Aladan, Obun Eko, Isale Eko, Lagos.
