Delta APC to voters: We won’t rig 2027, we’ll show our report card
The All Progressives Congress in Delta State has told voters it will not get involved in rigging the 2027 elections, saying it will instead put the records of the federal and state governments before the electorate and let them judge.
Mr Charles Aniagwu, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Delta State APC Campaign Council, gave the commitment on Monday in Asaba while unveiling members of the committee to journalists.
“We will not get involved in rigging elections. We will show our report card,” Aniagwu said, expressing confidence that the performance of the President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administrations would provide the party with a strong basis to seek re-election.
He said the party would focus its campaign on the performance of the President and the Governor, as well as their policies and programmes, adding that voters would assess APC candidates on those records rather than on promises.
Committee and its scope
The other members of the media and publicity committee, as named by Aniagwu, are Mr Valentine Onojeguo (Vice Chairman), Hon Timi Tonye (Secretary), Olorogun Festus Ahon, Sir Kelly Okolugbo and Mr Jackson Ekwugum.
According to him, the committee’s responsibility extends beyond the President and the Governor to cover all APC candidates contesting elections into the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate.

He said the committee would work closely with journalists to ensure that the electorate receives accurate information on the candidates and their programmes, and that it has the experience to respond to questions and provide relevant information on the party’s policies.
“We will stay with the issues,” Aniagwu said, urging journalists to partner with the committee in communicating the party’s message to the electorate.
Warning against violence and jungle justice.
Alongside the pledge, Aniagwu cautioned political actors against inflammatory statements, warning that rhetoric capable of inciting violence could encourage supporters to take the law into their own hands.
“The governor has warned earlier that nobody is above the law. We will not tolerate violence, irrespective of the divide anybody belongs to,” he said.
He urged residents not to take complaints about the conduct of elections into their own hands, and to route them through the security agencies instead.
“We are not in a jungle republic. If there is anybody carrying out an action you consider not to be in line with the electoral guidelines, that is why we have the security agencies. Report them and let the law take its course,” Aniagwu said.
He described calls for jungle justice as inimical to the peace and stability of Delta State, and urged residents not to be influenced by statements capable of turning political disagreements into violence.
Aniagwu said the APC would remain focused by explaining the policies and reforms of the federal and state governments, expressing optimism that the programmes would contribute to a better future for Deltans.
