10 Kidnapped NYSC Members Rescued in Kogi, 5 Still Missing

In a major security development, joint security forces have successfully rescued 10 out of the 15 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in Kogi State on Friday.
The corps members were rescued on Monday at Egume Forest, situated in the Ofu Local Government Area of the state, according to an official disclosure by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja.
Speaking at a briefing for journalists at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Maj.-Gen. Onoja stated that security operations are still actively ongoing to safely rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the fleeing kidnappers.

The NYSC members were originally abducted on Friday while traveling from Abuja to Bayelsa State after completing their mandatory orientation camp.

Maj.-Gen. Onoja urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant, while promptly reporting any suspicious activity or relevant information to authorities that could assist security forces in rescuing the remaining victims and arresting the perpetrators.

The kidnappers had previously demanded a ransom of N20 million from the families of some of the abducted victims.
