Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that his party membership obligates him to advocate for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a special prayer visit by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Delta State Executive Committee, led by Bishop Abos Willie, at the Government House, Asaba, Oborevwori called on Christian leaders across the state to mobilize their followers and offer prayers in support of the APC’s electoral prospects.

The Governor’s remarks, delivered on Wednesday, underscored his belief that the 2027 elections should transcend mere political calculations, emphasizing that God’s will ultimately determines who holds positions of authority. Reflecting on his own rise to power in 2023, he attributed his electoral victory to divine grace and the prayers of Christian leaders, urging the PFN leadership and other faith leaders to continue interceding for the nation, President Tinubu, and the Delta State Government.
In a direct appeal to the Christian community, Oborevwori urged them to extend the same goodwill and support they had shown him to President Tinubu and all APC candidates in Delta State. He stated,
“I am an APC man. I must work for my President and I must work for my candidates. I will continue to speak for them.”
He emphasized that his loyalty to the President was not merely personal but a responsibility inherent in his role as a member of the ruling party.
Oborevwori further urged the church to intensify prayers for President Tinubu, specifically requesting divine wisdom, strength, good health, and guidance as he navigates the country’s ongoing reforms.
He acknowledged that these reforms were already strengthening the financial capacity of governments at the state and local levels, citing improved execution of developmental projects—such as roads and health facilities—as tangible evidence of their positive impact.
He noted,
“Before now, to pay salaries was a problem. To construct roads was a problem. Councils could not even execute projects. But now, local governments can do projects because the reforms are working.”
The Governor highlighted his administration’s focus on delivering infrastructure and other projects across Delta State, pointing to completed initiatives and ongoing developments as efforts to translate increased resources into measurable progress for the people.
In addition to electoral support, Oborevwori stressed the importance of responsible political participation by Christians, asserting that politics influences every facet of society.
He cautioned against complete disengagement from the political process, urging churches to remain actively involved in shaping the state’s future.
He also appealed for sustained prayers for peace and stability in Delta State, emphasizing the need to maintain the prevailing security situation.
Expressing gratitude to the PFN executives and other Christian leaders for their support and prayers, Oborevwori assured them of his administration’s commitment to good governance, development, and the welfare of the people.
He concluded by urging the faith leaders to continue praying for the state and its leaders, emphasizing that the collective responsibility for peace and development in Delta State rested on all citizens.
“Pray for Mr. President, pray for the state. Pray for good governance. Pray for peace and unity. I know God will continue to lead us,”
he said.

In response, the leadership of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Delta State offered prayers for Governor Oborevwori, his administration, Delta State, and the nation, seeking divine wisdom, protection, peace, and continued progress.
Bishop Abos Willie, Chairman of the PFN in Delta State, led the delegation and commended the Governor for what he described as remarkable achievements in infrastructure, peace, and development across the state, as well as his growing national recognition.
Bishop Willie assured that the Christian body would intensify prayers for the Governor, his administration, and the forthcoming elections.
He announced plans to establish prayer centers across the state, dedicated to seeking divine intervention for peaceful campaigns and a violence-free electoral process.
The PFN Chairman expressed admiration for the Governor’s ability to manage potentially volatile situations while maintaining peace in the state, stating that the Christian community was proud of his administration’s progress under the MORE Agenda.
He also disclosed that the fellowship had strengthened its organizational structure, with approximately 4,150 ward officers and coordinators expected to be deployed across the state to enhance grassroots engagement.
Highlighting the PFN’s contributions to societal development, Bishop Willie revealed that the fellowship had established a College of Theology with over 300 students and was in the final stages of completing a hatchery project as part of its economic empowerment initiatives.
He assured Governor Oborevwori of continued prayers for divine favor, wisdom, and strength, as well as the recognition and development of Delta State at both national and global levels.
Bishop Willie also commended the Governor for organizing the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, describing it as a significant initiative capable of attracting investment and advancing the state’s economic development.
The PFN’s visit and the Governor’s remarks reflect a broader theme of collaboration between religious leaders and state governance, with both parties emphasizing the role of faith in fostering national and state-level progress. As Delta State prepares for the 2027 elections, the call for prayerful and active political participation by Christian leaders underscores the intersection of spirituality and governance in shaping the state’s future.
