This happened after a legal judgment from the High Court of Justice, Kano State, where Aminu Bayero was asked to stop parading himself as the Emir of Kano pending the determination of the suit. Further, the court ordered four other dethroned emirs to stop declaring themselves as emirs.
The move to create new emirates comes after the May 23 restoration of Sanusi as Emir of Kano. He had been deposed in 2020 by then-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who opted to sever the emirate into five fragments. This legislative act continues to redefine the traditional leadership in Kano State.
