Analysts Issue Warning of Potential Bitcoin Drop to $59,000 Amid Cycle Peak

Renowned market analyst Peter Schiff has raised concerns about Bitcoin’s future trajectory, suggesting that the cryptocurrency could plummet to as low as $59,000 as it approaches its cycle peak.

According to CryptoPotato, Schiff, a seasoned American stockbroker and vocal Bitcoin critic, cautioned that Bitcoin’s current price level is unsustainable as it has reached its cycle peak.

Schiff highlighted $60,000 as a critical resistance level, warning of a significant downward trend if this barrier is not breached.

Bitcoin has been trading in the range of $64,000-$67,000 recently, prompting optimism among crypto enthusiasts who anticipate a rally following the halving event that occurred in the United States last weekend.

However, some analysts are adopting a bearish outlook for Bitcoin. Notably, crypto influencer and trader Ali Martinez predicts that a drop below $63,300 could trigger a further decline to $61,000 or even a two-month low of $59,000.

Mikybull Crypto, another prominent crypto trader, expressed apprehension on X, suggesting that Bitcoin may have already reached its cycle peak and could now face a retreat.

Schiff, a vocal critic of Bitcoin, contends that the cryptocurrency’s current outlook is unfavorable for holders, emphasizing the significance of the $60,000 level as a major resistance zone. He warns that failure to overcome this hurdle could lead to a substantial decline in Bitcoin’s value.

This is not the first time Schiff has forecasted negative outcomes for Bitcoin. He recently predicted that the approval of spot Bitcoin Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) by the United States SEC would halt the BTC rally.

However, Bitcoin’s price has rebounded from $46,000 when the SEC approved the Spot Bitcoin ETF, reaching $64,000 at the time of reporting.

    Key Takeaways:

    – The Bitcoin halving event, which involves a halving of Bitcoin miners’ rewards, is considered the most significant event in the Bitcoin space this month.

    – While the halving event typically sparks a bullish run in the long term and is celebrated by the crypto community, it has had limited impact on Bitcoin’s price, with a peak of $65,000 observed over the weekend.

    Drugs

The assailants were, however, arrested after a hot chase by police operatives and members of the vigilante group.

The command disclosed this in a statement shared on its X handle on Sunday.

The statement read, “In another development, on 22/04/2024 another attack was carried out where one Emmanuel Odiase, a member of Black Axe was killed in Auchi by members of the Eiye cult group.

During the attack, one Umoru was shot dead by some members of the Aye Cult group.

  • 5 Popular APC Politicians Who May Not Support Tinubu’s Re-election in 2027

5 Popular APC Politicians Who May Not Support Tinubu’s Re-election in 2027

2027 Presidency: 5 Key APC Figures Potentially Opposing Tinubu’s Re-election Bid.

Some prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have shown signs of distancing themselves from supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s potential re-election bid in 2027. These figures, once vocal supporters of Tinubu, have become noticeably quiet since his assumption of office on May 29, 2023.

Ejes Gist News highlights five strong APC politicians who may withhold their support for Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027, along with the reasons behind their potential opposition:

Breaking: Prominent APC politician assassinated in Front of His Home

Femi Fani-Kayode: Former spokesperson of the APC’s presidential campaign council, Femi Fani-Kayode, has conspicuously retreated from the spotlight since Tinubu’s inauguration. Despite his active involvement in Tinubu’s campaign, Fani-Kayode’s absence from Tinubu’s cabinet appointments has raised eyebrows, hinting at possible discontent within the party.

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai: The former Kaduna State governor’s strained relationship with Tinubu dates back to his failed ministerial confirmation by the Senate. El-Rufai’s criticisms of Tinubu’s administration, particularly regarding fuel subsidy policies, signal his opposition to Tinubu’s leadership style.

Yahaya Bello: The ongoing EFCC investigation into alleged financial misconduct by the former Kogi State governor has strained his relationship with Tinubu. Bello’s lukewarm support for Tinubu’s presidency, coupled with his legal troubles, suggests a potential shift in allegiance.

Kayode Fayemi: Despite initially endorsing Tinubu’s candidacy at the APC presidential primary, Fayemi’s absence from Tinubu’s government indicates a possible divergence in political interests. His silence on Tinubu’s policies further suggests a lack of alignment with the president’s agenda.

Nigerian Idol Judges 2024: Season 9 Names, Profile, Pictures, and Salary

Ibikunle Amosun: Another erstwhile presidential aspirant who relinquished his ambition in favor of Tinubu, Amosun’s exclusion from Tinubu’s government has fueled speculation about his loyalty. His absence from the political scene underscores his potential withdrawal of support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The growing dissent among these influential APC figures poses a significant challenge to Tinubu’s aspirations for re-election in 2027. As political realignments take shape, the dynamics within the APC are likely to undergo substantial shifts in the lead-up to the next presidential election.

Lagos police have reported that the Nigerian Army has transferred custody of a discharged soldier and three additional suspects to the command on charges of impersonation.

Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the Lagos police command, said an unnamed captain in the army brought the four suspects to Onikan police division on Friday.

In a tragic incident, Alaba Excel Abbey, a campaign coordinator for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, was reportedly assassinated in front of his residence in Supare Akoko on Sunday, April 28th.

The news of Abbey’s assassination was confirmed by his brother, Samuel Abbey, who disclosed that Alaba was shot dead at his doorstep.

Alaba Excel Abbey played a significant role as a ward coordinator for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot-Soldiers (LACO-SF) during the recently concluded primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State. Governor Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious in the primary election.

Reacting to the tragic incident, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot-Soldiers (LACO-SF) condemned Abbey’s brutal murder and called on the police authorities to ensure the safety of its members from such attacks.

Kayode Fasua, the spokesperson for LACO-SF, highlighted Abbey’s active involvement in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s campaign activities until his untimely demise.

  • How Wabara, Others Dug PDPs Grave Okechukwu

Mr Osita Okechukwu, a foundation member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has stated that leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, should blame themselves for the party’s woes.

He spoke while responding to former Senate President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara.

The PDP BoT Chairman had vowed that any attempt by the ruling APC to turn Nigeria into a one-party state would be vigorously resisted.

Wabara’s statement is coming as a former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Chuka Odom, and myriads of others resigned their membership of the PDP.

However, Okechukwu, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Sunday, stated that the blame game dished out to the APC by “Senator Wabara and Co who dug the grave of the PDP is misplaced in all materials particular”.

He maintained that “as long as the nemesis of Wabara and Co’s deliberate crass breach of presidential rotation convention between north and south, albeit PDP’s Constitution; Obi’s Labour Party, Kwankwaso’s NNPP and Wike’s Masquerade are alive and breathing, with open arms admitting defector-exits from PDP, there is no valid fear of one party state in Nigeria.”

Okechukwu maintained that the blame game from the BoT Chairman is no solution provider, “therefore PDP should earnestly introspect on how best to pick the pieces of the party that is dangerously sinking.”

He said that “instead of careful introspection of its bleeding ailments and how to fix Obi and Kwankwaso’s exit and its troubled Wike’s Masquerade, plus imbibing the best tenets of internal democracy devoid of breach of the zoning convention, extant laws, planlessness and squandermania, the PDP most times arrogantly hauled unnecessary blame game on the APC.

“My understanding from our elder statesman’s vituperation is that PDP may not even recover in August after the ward, LGA, and State congresses and national convention, when they failed ab initio to embark on careful introspection to examine the root causes of Obi and Kwankwaso’s exit, especially Wike’s Masquerade which led a party that boasted of 60 years uninterrupted reign to woeful failure in 2023 presidential election.

“Truly PDP needs soul searching to make amends, rather than sweeping its troubled faction under the carpet.”

WAEC Deletes Video Documentary Showing How Anambra Went from 27th to 1st Under Peter Obi’s Leadership

Political Interference or Transparency? WAEC’s Decision Sparks Outrage and Debat.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Nigeria has ignited a firestorm of controversy by deleting a video that provided evidence supporting former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi’s claims about the state’s educational achievements.

The deleted video, which surfaced on YouTube on October 3rd, 2016, had corroborated Obi’s assertion that Anambra State had risen from 27th to 1st place in educational rankings during his tenure. WAEC’s decision to remove the video has sparked outrage and condemnation from many quarters.

WAEC Deletes Video evidence on Peter Obi Educational Achievements

The video, originally shared by WAEC on their X (formerly Twitter) handle on October 4th, 2016, showcased the strides made by Anambra State in the educational sector under Peter Obi’s leadership. However, its removal comes amidst a heated debate fueled by supporters of Bola Tinubu, who have challenged Obi’s record of educational development in Anambra State.

WAEC Deletes Video evidence on Peter Obi Educational Achievements

In response to the challenge, supporters of Peter Obi flooded the internet with evidence of his achievements in education, including the celebrated video from WAEC. The removal of the video by WAEC has been interpreted by many as capitulating to political pressure and undermining the credibility of the organization.

Critics have condemned WAEC’s action, labeling it as an act of bigotry and tribalism that threatens to undermine Nigeria’s unity and progress. The deletion of the video has raised questions about transparency and accountability within WAEC and has reignited concerns about the influence of political interests on public institutions.

As Nigerians express disappointment and frustration over WAEC’s decision, calls have been made for the organization to provide an explanation for the removal of the video and to reaffirm its commitment to impartiality and integrity.

What is WAEC Hiding? Deleted Video Revealed Anambra’s Rise from 27th to 1st in Educational Rankings Under Peter Obi.

The deletion of the video by WAEC has raised more questions than answers, leaving many to wonder: what is WAEC hiding? The deleted video had provided tangible evidence of Anambra State’s remarkable rise from 27th to 1st place in educational rankings during Peter Obi’s leadership, a achievement that has been touted as a testament to his commitment to education.

By removing the video, WAEC has not only sparked outrage but also fueled speculation about their motives. Are they trying to conceal the truth about Anambra’s educational success? Are they succumbing to political pressure to discredit Peter Obi’s achievements?

The deletion of the video has only added fuel to the fire, and Nigerians are demanding answers. As the controversy continues to simmer, one thing is clear: WAEC’s credibility is on the line, and they must come clean about their reasons for deleting the video.

  • Naira Rebounds, Sells For 1,280/$ At Parallel Market

Yesterday, the Naira saw a recovery against the US dollar at the parallel market, appreciating to N1280/$, as reported by currency traders according to market information obtained by Nairametrics.

This implied that the Naira appreciated by N120, representing a gain of 8.57 per cent when compared to the N1,400 to a dollar at which it traded on Friday.

Currency traders confirmed that they sold between N1, 280 and N1,300/dollar.

The local currency had, midweek lost a third of its value barely two weeks after strengthening to below N1,000 against the dollar.
It later dropped to N1,400 against the dollar at the black market on reports of fresh demand pressure.

This had made many people to question the impact of the sales of $15.83 million to 1,583 Bureau De Change (BDC) operators by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The apex bank had, on Monday announced the sale of $10,000 to its licensed currency traders nationwide at the rate of N1,021/$1 as part of its plans to aid foreign currency accessibility for qualified end users and stabilise the foreign exchange market.

Currency traders had attributed the recent depreciation of the Naira to market forces as supply had been unable to meet up with the demand.

Meanwhile, a data from FMDQ showed that the Naira continued its downward trend against the greenback at the official foreign exchange window, closing at N1,339.23/$1 on Friday.

This represents a 2.24 per cent depreciation when compared to the N1,309.88/$1 that was reported the previous day.

Recent initiatives by the apex bank had tempered forex scarcity, aiding the Naira’s recovery from an early March rate of N1,617 per dollar to N1,072 per dollar on April 17.

Dollar Wrecking Ball Forces Investors to Seek Cover in Exporters

The soaring dollar is causing turmoil for investors globally, but amidst the chaos, exporters are emerging as potential winners. Companies that export to the United States, the world’s largest economy, are poised to benefit from the currency’s strength.

Exporters with significant dollar earnings, particularly Asian chipmakers and European industrial and pharmaceutical firms, are expected to reap rewards. According to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. indexes, shares of exporters to the US have outperformed a broader range of non-American companies this year.

George Maris, Chief Investment Officer for Global Equities at Principal Asset Management, noted that exporters to the US stand to gain not only from currency translation but also from trade advantages. He emphasized potential margin improvements for European, Japanese, and Chinese exporters.

The recent surge in the dollar, driven by a robust US economy and reduced expectations of Federal Reserve interest rate cuts, has triggered a sell-off in global markets. However, exporters could lead any market rebound, given the historical correlation between their earnings per share and the strength of the dollar.

Asian companies, especially in Taiwan, are expected to see significant gains. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., heavily reliant on US revenue, reported its first profit increase in a year despite revising future expansion plans. Japanese and Taiwanese equities, with substantial offshore revenues, are also likely to benefit from the stronger dollar, according to Morgan Stanley.

European pharmaceutical and luxury firms are anticipated to profit from the dollar rally due to their strong correlation with a robust US currency, as highlighted by Bloomberg Intelligence. Novo Nordisk A/S, a Danish pharmaceutical company, stands out as its production is centered in Europe while its primary sales market is in the US.

However, while exporters thrive, others may suffer. The appreciating dollar poses challenges for companies with non-US holdings, such as Blackstone Inc., which reported lower returns on real estate funds. Akamai Technologies Inc., heavily reliant on foreign revenue, cited the greenback as a headwind.

Overall, the strengthening dollar is expected to trigger sectoral shifts, with cyclical sectors like basic resources, consumer discretionary firms, and financials likely to underperform, according to David Chao, a strategist at Invesco Asset Management in Singapore.

As market dynamics evolve amid the dollar’s ascent, investors navigate a landscape where exporters find shelter amidst uncertainty.
