  • How Mobile Apps Have Transformed Live Wagering

The stands out as a prime example of the evolution of mobile gaming, particularly in the realm of sports betting. With its user-friendly interface and seamless navigation, the Melbet app offers a comprehensive gaming experience right at users’ fingertips. From live sports betting to a vast array of games, including slots, table games, and live dealer options, the app caters to a diverse audience of players. Moreover, the prioritizes security and regulatory compliance, ensuring that users can enjoy their favorite games with peace of mind. Its accessibility and feature-rich design make it a noteworthy contender in the ever-expanding landscape of mobile gaming.

This gives sports bettors access to a wealth of statistics in real-time that allows them to analyze player performances on the spot. Live betting is interactive and exciting.

    Streamlined processes

Mobile apps are software programs that run on small, wireless computing devices such as smartphones and tablets. App stores, which are digital distribution platforms, allow users to download them. Unlike desktop or laptop applications, mobile apps are designed to take advantage of a smartphone’s unique hardware and software features.

For example, some mobile apps allow users to order food or book a flight using their smartphone’s GPS functionality. Others use their device’s cameras to capture and submit photographs when completing a form. These features help to reduce the time it takes to complete an app’s tasks and increase conversions.

Mobile apps are also faster than web-based applications, as they take advantage of the native hardware and software on a phone. This is especially important for businesses that require real-time communication with their customers, such as live wagering services.

Apps can also deliver push notifications, which have been shown to improve customer retention and conversion rates.

    Accessibility

Mobile app accessibility has become increasingly important, especially as the number of people with disabilities increases. These users, whether they have physical or sensory disabilities, cognitive or learning disabilities, require apps that are easy to use and adaptable. Many apps are not designed to accommodate this, which can lead to an unnecessarily difficult experience.

Accessibility features in mobile apps improve the user experience and provide equal opportunities for people with disabilities. Some of these features include closed captions, voiceover support, and accessible navigation. Accessible apps are also easier to maintain and provide a more consistent experience for all users. They can also be easier to test, and even deploy. By ensuring that your mobile app is accessible, you can reach a wider audience, build a positive brand image, and stay compliant with legal requirements.

Moreover, your app will be more competitive with other apps that offer the same features. You will also be able to increase your revenue from users who have disabilities.

    Convenience

The mobile app industry is constantly bringing in new types of apps to appeal to users. For example, some apps use device features like cameras and GPS to make their user experiences more interactive and fun. This type of functionality reduces the effort a user has to make while using an app and boosts conversion rates.

Other apps use sophisticated gestures like tap, swipe and pinch to provide innovative functionality that enhances the user experience. This type of interaction helps an app stand out among the competition and boosts brand recognition.

Apps can communicate with users in a more personal way through push notifications and in-app notifications. These notifications have been shown to generate higher click-through rates compared to traditional emails. This communication medium is also less intrusive than email.

    Security

With the introduction of mobile apps, users can now place wagers in a safe environment. Most reputable app developers have implemented security features to keep sensitive information from being accessed by unauthorized parties. Users are advised to only download apps from reputable sources and be mindful of the permissions they grant apps.

A mobile app that is well-designed can perform tasks much faster than a web page. It can also work offline, unlike a website that requires an Internet connection. A mobile app can also offer more sophisticated features based on advanced gestures like tap, swipe and pinch.

Choosing the right type of mobile application depends on your audience’s needs. For example, apps that require hardware sensors or GPS are best developed as native applications. This way, you can get the most out of your users’ devices and their experience. On the other hand, if your app can run on any device with a Web browser, you may want to consider building a hybrid application instead.

Instagram, TikTok Face Legal Action from Canadian Schools for Hindering Education

Legal Battle: Canadian Schools vs. Instagram, TikTok on Charges of Disrupting Education

Four of Canada’s largest school boards have launched lawsuits against social media platforms, including Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, accusing them of disrupting student learning, they announced on Thursday.

Similarly, local education authorities in the United States have filed lawsuits in recent months, with a Maryland school district suing the Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta, as well as TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, for their roles in a ‘mental health crisis’ among young people. This marks the first such lawsuit in Canada.

The three Toronto boards, along with one in Ottawa, filed separate statements of claim with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, seeking at least Can$4 billion (US$3 billion) in damages from the companies behind the popular apps—Meta, Snap, and ByteDance.

They also called on the companies to redesign their apps to make them less addictive.

The Toronto District School Board has accused the companies of ‘negligently designing and marketing addictive products’ that are ‘rewiring students’ thought processes, actions, behaviours, and learning capabilities.’

Significant issues with student attention and focus were cited. Educators have also raised concerns about social media leading to social withdrawal among students, as well as an increase in cyberbullying and aggressive behaviours.

‘The prolific and compulsive use of social media products is leading to a crisis in attention, learning, and mental health among students,’ said the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in a statement.

This has ‘placed a massive strain on the resources of the four school boards, including the need for additional in-school mental health programming and personnel, increased IT costs, and additional administrative resources,’ the statement continued.

The lawsuits in Canada were filed a day after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law restricting access to social media for minors under 16 on Monday. This move was partly in response to growing concerns over the effects of these platforms on teenage mental health.

However, the law has also sparked concerns that it may set a dangerous precedent for restricting free speech online.

  • Malabu Oil Scam: EFCC Loses Case As Court Discharges Ex-AGF Adoke, Others

Malabu Oil Scam: EFCC Loses Case As Court Discharges Ex-AGF Adoke, Others

A Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court on Thursday discharged a former Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Mohammed Bello Adoke, and six others after dismissing charges filed against them over the controversial Oil Prospecting Licence, OPL, 245, otherwise known as Malabu Oil scam.

DAILY POST recalls that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, dragged Adoke and other defendants before the court on an amended 40-count charge bordering on disobeying direction of the law, offering and receiving gratification, conspiracy and forgery, among others.

Adoke, who served as AGF and Minister of Justice under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, was prosecuted by EFCC in the suit marked FCT/HC/CR/151/2020.

Other accused persons are Aliyu Abubakar, Rasky Gbinigie, Malabu Oil and Gas Limited, Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited, Shell Nigeria Extra Deep Limited and Shell Nigeria Exploration Production Company Limited.

Ruling on the no-case submission filed by the defendants, Justice Abubakar Kutigi held that any trial processes are evidence driven but the prosecution failed to produce certain documents or call some witnesses to prove its case.

He further held that the prosecution has failed to prove the essential elements of the offences the defendants were charged with before the court.

According to him, though the defendants were constitutionally presumed to be innocent, to establish prima facie case against them, the prosecution had to produce sufficient evidence to warrant the court to call on them to enter their defence.

Justice Kutigi held that in the current case, the prosecution failed to establish any prima facie case against the defendants.

He cited the situation whereby about three counts involved forgery, yet the prosecution failed to tender relevant documents as exhibits.

The judge further held that a charge must not be filed for the purpose of doing so, submitting that frivolous charge does damage to the judicial system.

He commended the prosecution counsel for accepting in his final written address that no case has been made by the prosecution against the defendants.

Justice Kutigi, however, lamented that it took the prosecution four years before realising it.

”The defendants ought not to have been charged in the first instance.

“This, stemmed from the fact that the prosecution failed to produce before the court the minimum evidence to enable the court to order the defendants to enter their defence,” he said.

Panic as Hoodlums attack council HQs, burn police station in Anambra

Hoodlums launched a brazen attack on the council headquarters and police station in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra state, setting the Neni Police station ablaze and igniting flames at the Anaocha Local Government Headquarters.

The assailants reportedly chanted hostile songs directed at the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) during the attack.

Ejes Gist News reports that the incident comes on the heels of a recent attack on the Awgbu police station, where two officers lost their lives while another narrowly escaped. According to sources, the assault on the local government headquarters occurred in the early hours of Thursday, between 3 am and 4 am.

Reports indicate that the hoodlums also abducted several police operatives, including female personnel, from the police station. Allegations have surfaced that the attackers viewed the Anaocha Police Station as akin to a defunct SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) station.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Anambra state police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the hoodlums utilized Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during the assault. However, he clarified that no arms were stolen, and no police personnel were taken hostage. The police, armed with superior firepower, successfully repelled the attackers, forcing them to retreat.

Ikenga added that police operations were ongoing in the area, with further updates to be provided later. Regarding the killing of officers at the Awgbu police station, Ikenga declined to comment, deferring to a senior officer who confirmed the incident.

A resident, speaking anonymously, revealed that gunmen have been conducting operations in various villages, suggesting that security in Anambra may not be as robust as presumed.

Ejes Gist News understands  that despite these challenges, authorities remain vigilant and committed to ensuring the safety of residents, especially with the approaching Easter holidays.

  • Abducted Kaduna Pupils: Nigerians Deserve To Know Details Of Release – Bukarti

Bulama Bukarti, a security analyst has remarked that the circumstances surrounding the release of the abducted Kuriga schoolchildren in Kaduna State remain ambiguous.

Bukarti suggested that Nigerians deserve to know how the children who were abducted on March 7 from their school in Kuriga were released.

The security expert gave ade this view on Wednesday while fielding questions on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He said the government needs to explain to Nigerians circumstances around the release of the Kuriga schoolchildren to quell rumours.

“I have been investigating the circumstances of their release and whether anyone was arrested and what were the terms of the release or how were they rescued if they were rescued, I did not find any information to that effect.

“As Nigerians, we have the right to know how our government is proceeding with securing us, how our government is using our resources and how our government is dealing with criminal elements or terrorists elements among us.

“We have the right to know by law but we also have the right to know as Nigerians so that we may have confidence in our country,”

    he said.

Daily Post reports that the schoolchildren numbering 137 were kidnapped from their school by bandits on March 7, but were rescued in Zamfara State by the military and local authorities two weeks after their abduction.

Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, who announced their release did not explain how they were rescued, giving room to rumours that ransom was paid for their release.

The Federal Government also dispelled the rumour, saying no ransom was paid.

The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, said the victims were rescued through the concerted efforts of the security agencies in the country.

  • Breaking: Court Rejects Debe’s Lawsuit, Grants Ojukwu Will to Bianca

Breaking: Court Rejects Debe’s Lawsuit, Grants Ojukwu Will to Bianca

The Enugu State High Court, under the stewardship of Justice A.O Onovo, has dismissed, for lack of merit, a lawsuit initiated by the late Chief (Dr) Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu. He claimed to be the first son of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, against Ikemba’s widow, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu.

Debe had filed the suit contesting the authenticity of Ikemba’s will, arguing that as the first son, his name should have been included, which it wasn’t.

He alleged tampering with the will and sought to restrain Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu from involvement in the estate’s administration, also claiming that Ojukwu died intestate and asserting entitlement to administer the estate.

The late Biafra leader, Ojukwu, passed away on November 26, 2011. His widow, Bianca, and Mr. James Ezike were named as trustees and executors in his will.

Debe brought the matter to court in 2013, asserting his status as the deceased’s first son. The court addressed whether sufficient evidence was presented to establish his status and the validity of the will.

The court deliberated for over two hours before Justice Onovo delivered the verdict. He ruled that Debe failed to prove acknowledgment by Ojukwu as his biological son during his lifetime. While Debe claimed recognition by various groups, the court stressed that public opinion alone couldn’t determine paternity.

Regarding the will’s validity, Debe cited typographical errors and signatories’ issues. However, the court found the will and codicil properly executed and valid.

Furthermore, the court addressed the right of Debe’s children to challenge Ojukwu’s will, emphasizing the need to prove their relationship to Ojukwu. Since Debe couldn’t establish his filial connection, his children lacked standing to challenge the will.

In summary, the court dismissed the case, declaring it without merit. Stay informed with Ejes Gist News – Your Source for Credible News in Nigeria Now.

Binance Executives Sue NSA, EFCC Over Rights Violation

Tigran Gambaryan, a detained Binance executive, has taken legal action against the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged violations of his fundamental rights.

In an originating motion dated and filed on March 18 by his lawyer, Olujoke Aliyu from Aluko and Oyebode Law Firm, Gambaryan sought five reliefs before Justice Inyang Ekwo.

Similarly, Nadeem Anjarwalla, Binance’s Africa regional manager who escaped from lawful custody on March 22, filed a separate right enforcement suit before Justice Ekwo.

Both Gambaryan and Anjarwalla sued the Office of NSA (ONSA) and EFCC as respondents, seeking identical reliefs.

Gambaryan, a US citizen overseeing financial crime compliance at the crypto exchange platform, sought a declaration that his detention and the seizure of his international travel passport contravened Section 35 (1) and (4) of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended).

He argued that these actions amounted to a violation of his fundamental right to personal liberty as guaranteed by the constitution. Additionally, he requested an order directing the respondents to release him from their custody and return his international travel passport immediately.

Gambaryan further sought an order of perpetual injunction restraining the respondents and their agents from further detaining him in relation to any investigation into or demands from Binance. He also demanded a public apology and full indemnity for the cost of the action.

In support of his suit, Gambaryan stated that he and his colleague, Anjarwalla, visited Nigeria on February 26 as representatives of Binance to discuss issues relating to the company. Following a meeting with ONSA and EFCC, they were detained without any charges.

When the suits were called on Thursday, T.J. Krukrubo, SAN, appeared for Anjarwalla and Gambaryan. Krukrubo informed the court that although the respondents were served two days ago, they were not represented in court.

Justice Ekwo adjourned the matter until April 8 for further mention, allowing the applicants time to seek legal representation and for the respondents to appear in court.

Justice Abubakar Kutigi, in a ruling on Thursday, upheld the no-case submissions made by all the defendants in the 40-count amended charge, marked: FCT/HC/CR/151/2020.

The judge stated that the prosecution failed to provide evidence to prove the essential elements related to the charges. He further criticized the drafting and prosecution of the charge, advising the prosecuting counsel to exercise caution in future filings.

Emphasizing the potential injustice of continuing the case, Justice Kutigi proceeded to discharge all the defendants.

This ruling marks a significant development in the legal proceedings surrounding the Malabu Oil deal, highlighting the importance of due process and the rule of law in such complex cases.

Not yet over for Mohammed Adoke.

There is yet another case against Adoke and Abubakar before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Although there is no mention of the OPL 245 transaction in this particular trial, the same particulars were also charged by EFCC before Kutigi of the FCT high court alleging that Adoke accepted a N300 million bribe from the sale of the oil block to Shell and Eni by Malabu Oil & Gas Ltd in 2011.

Adoke also filed a no case submission but Ekwos is yet to deliver his ruling.

The President of NATCOMS, Adeolu Ogunbanjo, told The PUNCH on Wednesday that the NCC needed to order telcos not to disconnect telephone lines, considering the ongoing difficulties faced by subscribers.

The telecom regulator had insisted that there would  be no changes to the deadline for the next phase of disconnection

The disconnection process was rolled out in stages, with the second phase scheduled for March 29, 2024, following the initial phase that occurred on February 28, 2024.

The third phase is slated to commence on April 15, 2024, as previously announced.

Earlier, the Director of Public Publicity at the NCC, Reuben Mouka, told The PUNCH, “We issued a publication that you can refer to. We specified certain deadlines and stipulated that subscribers who do not comply with the directive would be barred. And that has not changed.”

At the last deadline on February 28, 2024, about 40 million lines that were not linked to NIN were barred.

The NATCOM president said before the first deadline, subscribers had appealed to the NCC for a one-month extension.

However, the NCC explained that there was no issue as the process was designed to occur in phases.

According to the president, the Operator’s Consumer Centre stands as the primary location for consumers to complete their registration fully, with data provided there being verifiable.

However, the president noted that telecom agents were bypassing crucial information during the registration process, resulting in incomplete registrations of subscribers.

“For example, during interactions with telecom representatives, some agents fail to collect all required the information from subscribers.

“If a subscriber cannot provide certain details, agents often leave the registration incomplete. Consequently, these incomplete registrations are deemed unverifiable,”

    he said.

Further, Ogunbanjo noted that NIMC also shares responsibility in this process.

He said the challenges often arise when telecom companies attempt to upload collected data on NIMC’s server, owing to network issues.

“These network difficulties, beyond the control of subscribers, hinder the timely completion of the registration process,”
    he said.

“NIMC’s inadequate network infrastructure exacerbates the problem. While they intend to accept data uploads, technical issues prevent them from doing so effectively.

“We urge the NCC to address NIMC’s shortcomings, improve their services, and acknowledge that meeting the deadline will be challenging given the current issues,”

    the president added.

NIMC is a statutory Nigerian organisation that operates the country’s national identity management systems.

NIMC’s enrollment figures as of December 31, 2023, stand at over 104.16 million unique records.

About 530,345 Nigerians in Diaspora have gotten NINs. 59.12 million male and 45.04 million female Nigerians have NINs.

When The PUNCH reached out to NIMC for comments on technical glitches, the Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, clarifies that the commission’s server has consistently remained operational, debunking reports suggesting otherwise.

He emphasizes that the NIMC’s services are fully functional and accessible to all users

“Our server has never been down. You can go to the various NIN centres and confirm.

Adegoke further explained the process for subscribers to link their NIN to their SIM cards,

“These individuals only need to submit their NIN and complete the verification process through their respective telcos providers.

He encouraged those who have not yet obtained their NIN to visit any NIMC centre for enrollment.

Adegoke assured Nigerians that upon enrollment, individuals can expect their NIN to be available within three hours.

However, for those requiring corrections, such as rectifying date of birth errors, the process may take up to 72 hours.

Last week, the National Identity Management Commission and the NCC issued a joint statement unveiling a strategic partnership aimed at simplifying the NIN-SIM linkage procedures for telecommunications subscribers nationwide.

Both agencies reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing the processes involved and improving efficiency regarding the NIN and SIM card linkage initiative.

They acknowledge the importance of this initiative in bolstering security measures and enhancing service delivery across the country.

The SIM-NIN linkage initiative is a crucial step towards improving the integrity of subscriber data and enhancing security measures within the telecommunications industry.

The NIN-SIM linkage policy was initially introduced by the Nigerian government in December 2020. This directive requires all telephone line users in Nigeria to associate their SIM cards with their NIN.

In December of the previous year, the NCC issued a directive stipulating that all telecommunications operators in Nigeria, including major providers like MTN, Airtel, and Globacom, among others, must enforce complete network barring on all phone lines for which subscribers have not provided their NINs by February 28, 2024.

Barely two weeks ago, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project issued a warning to take legal action against the NCC if it does not revoke the directive instructing network providers to block the phone lines of individuals who have not linked their SIM cards to their NINs.

What is a Canadian visa, and why is it important?

Before delving into the tips for a successful Canada visa application, it is essential to understand what a Canadian visa is and why it holds significance.

A Canadian visa is a formal authorization document issued by the Canadian government that permits a foreign individual to enter or remain in Canada for a predetermined duration. The type of visa required varies based on the purpose of the visit, whether it be for tourism, work, study, or other reasons.

Obtaining a Canadian visa is crucial as it serves as a legal permit granting permission to enter and stay in the country for a specific period. Possessing a valid visa ensures compliance with Canadian immigration laws and regulations. However, it is essential to note that holding a visa does not guarantee automatic entry into Canada. The final decision regarding entry rests with the border services officer stationed at the port of entry, who assesses various factors before granting permission to enter the country.

Understanding the significance of a Canadian visa underscores its importance in facilitating lawful travel and ensuring compliance with immigration protocols. With this foundational knowledge in mind, individuals can proceed with confidence in their visa application process, knowing the essential role that a visa plays in their journey to Canada.

Slain Soldiers: Ndume Calls for Unity, Praises Tinubu for Offering Scholarships to Their Children

President Bola Tinubu has been lauded by Senator Ndume for announcing scholarships for the children of soldiers who were tragically killed by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Okuoma, Delta State, last week.

In a statement sent to DAILY POST in Abuja on Thursday by the Chief Whip of the Senate, Mohammed Ali Ndume, he mentioned that the president has also promised houses to the families of the deceased military personnel.

Ndume remarked that this gesture would bolster the commitment of other security agents, noting that President Tinubu awarded posthumous national honours to all the slain soldiers, regardless of rank.

President Tinubu revealed these honours on Wednesday during the funeral of the military personnel at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.

The soldiers were ambushed and killed on the 17th of March while on a peacekeeping mission in Okuama, located in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The fallen soldiers include A. Ali, a lieutenant colonel and the commander of the team; SD Shafa and DE Obi, both majors; and U Zakari, a captain.

Others are Yahaya Saidu, a staff sergeant; Danbaba Yahaya and Kabir Bashir, both corporals; Abdullahi Ibrahim, Bulus Haruna, Sole Opeyemi, and Bello Anas, all lance corporals.

Privates Alhaji Isah, Clement Francis, Abubakar Ali, Adamu Ibrahim, Hamman Peter, and Ibrahim Adamu were also among those killed.

President Tinubu stated that the four officers were honoured with the Member of the Order of Niger (MON), while the 13 soldiers received the Officer of the Federal Republic Medal.

“Each man now belongs to the revered list of servicemen and women who defended our country and protected their fellow Nigerians, without regard for their own safety,” he asserted.

Senator Ndume, in praising Tinubu’s actions, noted that by attending the funeral, the President has shown his patriotism.

He urged political leaders and Nigerians to set aside their differences and come together to honour these fallen heroes.

Ndume further called on the Chief of Defence Staff to follow President Tinubu’s example and confer posthumous medals on the fallen heroes.

“I commend President Bola Tinubu for his presence at the funeral of the soldiers slain in Okuama and for awarding their children full scholarships, as well as providing houses to their families,” Ndume said.
