Argentina Roar Back to Beat Costa Rica 3-1 in Friendly.

Despite missing their talismanic captain Lionel Messi due to injury, the world champions displayed their trademark flair and determination to secure victory in their final match of a two-game tour of the United States.
The first half saw Argentina dominate possession and create several scoring opportunities, but it was Costa Rica who struck first on 34 minutes through a swift counter-attack. Alvaro Zamora capitalized on a rebound from Walter Benitez’s save to give Costa Rica a surprise lead.

The development was officially communicated through a statement released on Tuesday by Dere Otubu, the company’s chairman, shedding light on the swift administrative changes taking place at the helm of the DisCo.
The correspondence, issued on March 21, 2024, bears the title “Implementation of NERC Directive on Seconded Staff” and directly addresses Sanda.

Clark Condemns Military Raid on His Home Amid Delta Killings.
Elder statesman and National Leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark, has denounced a military raid on his country home in Kiagbodo Local Government Area of Delta State following the recent killing of soldiers in the state.
Clark’s condemnation comes amidst heightened tensions surrounding the security situation in Delta State.
In a statement issued yesterday, Clark recounted the harrowing experience of the military incursion into his residence, detailing the intrusive search conducted by armed soldiers purportedly in pursuit of a suspect linked to the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama. The raid, characterized by a show of force with multiple trucks and flying drones, left a trail of disruption and anxiety in its wake.
Clark expressed dismay over the heavy-handed tactics employed during the raid, highlighting the unwarranted intrusion into his property and the intimidation of his staff and family members. He deplored the lack of communication and coordination with local authorities, stressing the need for transparency and adherence to due process in security operations.
The elder statesman underscored the gravity of the incident, citing parallels with a previous raid on his Abuja residence in 2018. He condemned the arbitrary authorization of such raids as “disrespectful and unlawful,” given his longstanding service to the nation spanning nearly seven decades in various capacities.
Drawing attention to the imminent burial of the slain army personnel, Clark called for solemn reflection and restraint in the aftermath of the tragic loss of lives. The scheduled burial ceremony at the National Cemetery in Abuja, to be attended by President Bola Tinubu, serves as a somber reminder of the human toll exacted by the escalating violence in Delta State.
Meanwhile, Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, the representative of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State in the House of Representatives, echoed Clark’s sentiments, urging caution and professionalism in the handling of the situation. Ambaiowei emphasized the imperative of meticulous intelligence gathering and prudent execution to avert unintended casualties and prevent a recurrence of past atrocities, alluding to the tragic events in Odi in 1999.
As tensions simmer in the wake of the Delta killings, calls for restraint and accountability resonate across the political spectrum, underscoring the imperative of upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the fundamental rights of citizens.

Governor: Zamfara State Becoming Epicenter of Kidnapping and Banditry.
In a stark revelation of the escalating insecurity plaguing Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal declared the region as the epicenter of kidnapping and banditry, underscoring the urgent need for decisive action to quell the crisis. The governor’s assertion comes amidst mounting concerns over the relentless wave of criminal activities, including the recent abduction of 137 pupils from Kuriga school in neighboring Kaduna State, further highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Governor Lawal, during a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, emphasized the dire security predicament confronting Zamfara State. He lamented the spate of attacks in local communities, expressing his apprehension that without concerted federal intervention, the scourge of banditry would continue unabated, not only in Zamfara but across the entire northern region.
Acknowledging the limitations faced by state authorities in tackling the security challenges, Governor Lawal underscored the indispensability of federal support in addressing the crisis. He reiterated the necessity of collaboration between the federal government, military, and police forces to stem the tide of insecurity gripping the state. Lawal also highlighted the establishment of the Community Protection Guard (CPG) as part of the state’s proactive measures to bolster security efforts through collaborative initiatives.
Zamfara State has increasingly become a hotspot for criminal activities perpetrated by notorious kidnappers and bandits, including prominent figures like Bello Turji. The pervasive influence of these criminal elements has created virtual no-go zones in certain areas, instilling fear and apprehension among residents. The prevailing insecurity has not only disrupted socio-economic activities but also undermined the fundamental rights and safety of the populace.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Nigerian military announced the release of 230 individuals suspected of affiliation with Boko Haram insurgents. Following meticulous profiling, it was determined that the detainees had been coerced into joining the terrorist ranks against their will. The release underscores the complexity of the insurgency and the challenges involved in distinguishing between active terrorists and coerced recruits.
The protracted insurgency waged by Boko Haram has inflicted immense suffering on civilians, claiming thousands of lives and triggering a humanitarian crisis in Northeast Nigeria. The release of the detainees signals a multifaceted approach by the military to address the intricate dynamics of the conflict and promote reconciliation and reintegration efforts.
As Zamfara State grapples with the escalating threat of kidnapping and banditry, Governor Lawal’s impassioned plea for federal intervention underscores the imperative of collaborative efforts to restore peace and stability to the embattled region. The burgeoning crisis demands swift and decisive action to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of the populace, reaffirming the collective resolve to confront the scourge of insecurity plaguing Nigeria’s northern corridor.

Nigeria vs Mali friendly match full time result and statistics.
The Nigerian national football team, also known as the Super Eagles, concluded the March 2024 international break on a disappointing note, experiencing a 2-0 defeat against Mali in a friendly match held in Morocco.
Despite being ranked 19 places above Mali in FIFA’s latest standings, the Super Eagles faltered in front of a spirited crowd of Malian supporters in Marrakesh, marking an abrupt end to the initial optimism surrounding Finidi George‘s interim coaching tenure.
Mali’s victory was well-deserved, with Atalanta striker El Bilal Toure opening the scoring in the first half following a costly error by the Nigerian defense. The win was sealed by Kamory Doumbia with just three minutes left of regular time.
Prior to this defeat, Nigeria had secured a positive result against Ghana, winning 2-1, providing hope for George and the team. However, the loss to Mali highlighted areas of concern as they prepare to resume World Cup qualifying matches in June.
The match saw Moses Simon sustain an injury after colliding with Mali goalkeeper Mamadou Samassa, forcing him to be substituted off the field. Despite Nigeria’s efforts, they struggled to create clear-cut chances, with Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers missing a crucial opportunity to equalize.
Nigeria vs Mali friendly match analysis.
In terms of statistics, Mali dominated with seven shots compared to Nigeria’s two, and held 58% possession throughout the game.
This encounter marked the 12th meeting between the two nations, with Nigeria holding the head-to-head advantage, winning six matches compared to Mali’s three. Mali’s previous win over Nigeria dated back to 1975.
The match kicked off at 9 p.m. local time in Marrakesh, Morocco, with viewers across different time zones able to tune in to the game. However, the match was not widely available for live broadcast in major English-speaking territories.
Finidi George faced challenges with injuries to key players including Victor Osimhen, William Troost-Ekong, and others, leading to rotations in the starting lineup. Despite efforts to field a competitive team, Nigeria was unable to overcome Mali’s resilience on the field.
