NDLEA Operatives Bust Drug Smuggling Syndicates, Apprehend Brazil Returnee and Ex-Beauty Queen

In a significant operation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully apprehended Udechukwu Ekene Theophilus, a Brazil returnee, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The suspect, who had ingested 60 wraps of cocaine totaling 1.279 kilograms, was intercepted during inward clearance of passengers on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Initially resisting a body scan, Udechukwu later agreed to excretion observation, leading to the expulsion of 60 wraps of the class A drug. The suspect claimed to have ingested the consignment in Brazil with the intention to discharge it in Addis Ababa.

However, he only managed to excrete 15 pellets before handing them over to a syndicate member, subsequently boarding a connecting flight to Nigeria.

In another major development, NDLEA operatives uncovered 12 cartons of tramadol weighing 385.40kg from an overstayed cargo at the SAHCO import shed at Lagos airport. The tramadol, arriving in two batches on KLM Royal Dutch Airline flights from Karachi, Pakistan, between July 27 and August 1, 2023, highlights the agency’s success in combating illicit drug trade.

Additionally, NDLEA conducted successful operations across various states, seizing 822 kilograms of cannabis sativa in Yobe and arresting suspects in Yobe, Kogi, and Kano states. A truck carrying cannabis, tramadol, and diazepam pills was intercepted on the Gombe-Bauchi road.

The agency also declared ex-beauty queen Ms. Aderinoye Queen Christmas wanted after she eluded capture during a raid on her Lekki residence. The search yielded 606 grams of Canadian Loud, an electronic weighing scale, drug packaging materials, and a black RAV 4 SUV marked Lagos KSF 872 GQ, exposing the extent of her alleged involvement in illicit substances.

Abdullahi Ganduje Asserts Leadership Dominance Amid Speculations of Kwankwaso’s APC Joining

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has reinforced his leadership stance within the party, specifically addressing the potential entry of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. In a widely circulated audio clip, Ganduje made it clear that upon joining the APC, Kwankwaso would assume a subordinate role, emphasizing the hierarchical structure of the party.

Ganduje, while addressing a sizable gathering of APC supporters in Kano, reiterated his national leadership role, stating, “If you defect to APC today, you are our subordinate and follower. It is important for you to note this; a child of the household and a stranger are all under the care of the head of the house.”

Meanwhile, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is informally known as Jagora among his followers, is currently associated with the NNPP. The ongoing feud between Ganduje and Kwankwaso has sparked speculations about Kwankwaso’s potential shift to the APC.

In an intriguing turn of events, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been predicted to face challenges leading up to the 2027 general elections. He stated, “The new process is working very effectively, with hiccups recorded at only 4 percent. In the next one or two weeks, we will have a near-perfect system.”

The Commissioner of Police, speaking through the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Maureen Chinaka, detailed that the arrest followed intelligence received by the Central Police Station (CPS), Umuahia. The information indicated that a four-man gang, dressed in EFCC uniforms, visited Enyioma Christ Lodge Umudike. At gunpoint, they dispossessed students of their phones and coerced them into transferring a total of 120,000 naira to the criminals’ account.

Upon receiving the information, the command swiftly deployed officers from CPS to investigate the incident and visit the crime scene. The police team successfully apprehended three men from the Man O’ War Base of the Michael Okpara University (MOUAU): Onyedikachi Ihechukwumere (25 years), Onwuka Christopher (26 years), and Tochukwu Obinna (30 years).

CP Onwuemelie disclosed that the police recovered three of the six stolen phones, along with a tricycle used during the criminal act, bearing registration number HAF 011VG FLEET NO 5868.

Further investigations led to the arrest of James Prince Victor (39 years) of Ohuhu Umuahia North, who claimed to be an EFCC personnel and had allegedly led the Man O’ War suspects to the student lodge. Chidozie Onwuzuruike (40 years), also from the same address, was arrested in connection with the incident.

The police chief detailed the recovery of four red-colored jackets with EFCC insignia, two EFCC ID cards, one of the stolen phones, one toy gun, and four EFCC search warrants during the operation. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

CP Onwuemelie advised Abians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police promptly, emphasizing the collaborative responsibility in ensuring security. He urged citizens to “say something when you see something,” reinforcing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining public safety.

Christiana Igba, who had recently given birth after a decade of barrenness, and her mother were kidnapped from their residence near the Mobil Barracks in Dei-Dei. The assailants, demanding a staggering N90 million ransom, eventually negotiated with the husband, Simon Igba, settling for N10 million.

Tragically, before the agreed-upon payment time, the bandits contacted Simon, claiming the one-month-old baby was unwell. They released another victim, entrusting her with the baby and instructing her to take the infant to the hospital. Meanwhile, the kidnappers carried out their heinous act, murdering Christiana and her mother.

A neighbour, Adejor Jacob, revealed the shocking details, stating, “Their lifeless bodies were dumped, and some police officers went there to recover them. They have been deposited at the Kubwa General Hospital.”

Residents of Dei-Dei are living in fear following this unprecedented murder, with some reportedly relocating due to escalating security concerns in the area. It was noted that numerous incidents of kidnappings and killings in the region often go unreported by the media.

Ijeoche argued that local officers familiar with crisis areas would be better equipped to handle challenges.

In response to the escalating crisis, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike assured residents of positive developments in the coming days. He pledged support for security agencies, indicating plans to provide motorcycles to vigilante groups for enhanced information gathering and assistance to security personnel.

Namibia, who themselves received a red card in the 40th minute, simply couldn’t recover from the early onslaught. Their dream of a first-ever AFCON quarter-final appearance evaporated quickly, as Angola’s relentless pressure and clinical finishing proved too much to handle.

“This is a historic moment for Angolan football,” beamed a jubilant Pedro Gonçalves, Angola’s coach. “Going down to ten men so early could have demoralized us, but instead, it brought out the fighting spirit in this team. Gelson Dala was the undisputed star of the show, bagging a brace to extend his goalscoring tally to four in the tournament. His clinical finishing and composure under pressure were key to Angola’s success.

The Unbelievable True Life Story of Lina Medina, Who Gave Birth at 5 Years, 7 Months, and 21 Days Old

Lina Medina, a Peruvian girl, made headlines around the world when she became the youngest confirmed mother in medical history. Born on September 27, 1933, in the small village of Ticrapo, located in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Lina’s story is both astonishing and puzzling.

    Lina Medina
    Lina Medina and her baby

In 1939, when Lina Medina was just five years old, her parents, Tiburelo Medina and Victoria Losea, became concerned about her abdominal growth and pain. Suspecting a tumour or some other medical condition, they took her to the local hospital in Pisco. To their shock and disbelief, the doctors discovered that Lina was not suffering from a tumour but was, in fact, pregnant.

Lina Medina : Unveiling the mystery

The medical community was equally perplexed, and the case gained international attention. Dr. Gerardo Lozada, a leading Peruvian obstetrician, took charge of Lina’s care. The doctors at first found it difficult to believe that a five-year-old could be pregnant, but medical tests confirmed the unexpected reality. Lina was indeed pregnant, and the news stunned the world.

Lina’s pregnancy was closely monitored, and medical professionals took every precaution to ensure the well-being of both mother and child. On May 14, 1939, when Lina was just 5 years, 7 months, and 21 days old, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy via cesarean section. The delivery was successful, and Lina became the youngest recorded mother in history.

The identity of the father remained a mystery, as Lina Medina was too young to understand the implications of her situation.

The True Story Behind The Death Of Stella Obasanjo, Wife Of Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo

After her C-section, it was determined she had mature sexual organs at around 8 months. She wouldn’t reveal the person who impregnated her but records show she couldn’t give responses with any detail.

Her Father was arrested and later released due to lack of evidence. She never spoke about it and refused all interviews.

It is believed with a DNA test, the father of her child could been determined but her son died in 1979. She may still be alive but she shuns all public attention. Her condition is called precocious puberty.

Speculation and rumours circulated, but no concrete evidence emerged regarding the person responsible for Lina’s pregnancy.

The family, facing intense media scrutiny and public attention, retreated from the spotlight, seeking privacy and protection for Lina and her child.

Lina’s son, named Gerardo after the attending doctor, grew up in a relatively low-profile environment. Over the years, Lina has been protective of her son and has kept their lives as private as possible. The unique circumstances of Lina’s pregnancy raised ethical questions and sparked debates about child welfare, human biology, and the possible social and environmental factors that may have contributed to such an early onset of fertility.

    Lina Medina

Tragically, Geraldo passed away at the age of 40 due to a bone marrow disorder. Lina herself, however, went on to build a life beyond the shadow of her medical anomaly. She married Raúl Jurado and had another son, Javier, at the age of 38. Though poverty stalked their footsteps, Lina found solace in family and the quiet anonymity afforded by the bustling city of Lima.

Today, at 90 years old, Lina Medina lives a reclusive life. The woman who became a medical marvel, a tragic mother, and ultimately a survivor, chooses to shield her past from prying eyes. Her story stands as a stark reminder of the complexities of human biology, the vulnerabilities of childhood, and the enduring power of resilience.

    Lina Medina

Lina’s legacy is not simply a medical record, but a poignant chronicle of a young girl caught in the crossfire of circumstance.

Her case remains one of the most extraordinary and perplexing medical mysteries in history. Despite the passage of time, the story of Lina Medina continues to captivate the public’s imagination, serving as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the marvels and challenges of the human body.

Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana (SAN), was among the dignitaries at the burial ceremony.

Oromoni (Jnr) died in November 2021 after being alleged to have been beaten by five of his colleagues. Dowen College dismissed the claim, alleging that the boy sustained injuries while playing football with his friends.

Contrary to Dowen’s claim, Oromoni’s family argued that their son had no health challenges before the incident. They insisted that the boy would remain in the morgue pending a definite verdict from a coroner’s inquest into the matter.

In January 2022, an initial autopsy declared that Oromoni died of “acute lung injury due to chemical intoxication,” but the result was later discredited. The Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Lagos released a second result, ruling that Oromoni died naturally. The case has been in court since 2022, and the bereaved family vowed to pursue the matter up to the apex court.

During the adoption of final written addresses by parties to the case last week, Mikhail Kadiri, the magistrate presiding over the coroner’s inquest on Oromoni, announced that the outcome of the court rounds will be made known on April 12.

“All witnesses have been called, and the ruling is the only thing remaining,” a member of the family said. “My family decided it was time to bury [him] and say our final goodbyes.”

Peter Obi Advocates Guinness World Record for President Tinubu’s “Hardship Inducing” Reforms

In a recent interview with Vanguard, former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has suggested that President Bola Tinubu should be recognized by the Guinness World Records for allegedly causing Nigerians the most hardship through his governance.

This comes after Tinubu himself claimed to deserve a spot in the prestigious record book due to his perceived achievements since taking office.

Peter Obi acknowledged Tinubu’s statement, stating, “If the idea is to put his name in the Guinness Book of Records for causing Nigerians the most hardship, of course he is spot on, and I will totally agree with him because his reforms are not achieving what they are meant to achieve.”

Obi, who has shifted his focus from the 2023 elections to governance and real issues, emphasized the importance of good governance. He noted the lessons learned from the elections, highlighting the commitment of Nigerians, especially the youth, to participate in the electoral process.

Reflecting on the current state of the nation, Obi refrained from giving a personal rating on the government’s performance, urging the public to evaluate it. He stated, “Ask the average Nigerian how he is faring today… millions of Nigerians don’t know where the next meal will come from. It is Nigerians that you should ask the question.”

Deadly Clash Erupts in Plateau State, Leaving Dozens Dead and Injured

In a tragic turn of events, a fierce clash between soldiers and gunmen unfolded in Satguru and Tyop villages, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday morning, claiming the lives of at least 30 individuals.

The incident occurred between 7:00 am to 7:30 am when a large group of gunmen launched a brutal attack on communities along Gindri road.

According to reports from reliable sources, the soldiers, alerted promptly, swiftly responded to the situation, resulting in the death of approximately 30 gunmen and injuries to some soldiers. Over 50 gunmen were apprehended with a significant cache of weapons and ammunition. Four soldiers were also reported to have sustained injuries during the intense gun battle.

The soldiers responded decisively, neutralizing a substantial number of gunmen,” the source disclosed.

Despite the swift response from the security forces, fear still grips the affected communities, as recounted by witnesses who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The lingering apprehension reflects the traumatic aftermath of the violent clash that unfolded in the serene villages.

As of now, the spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, a multi-security task force responsible for maintaining peace in the area, has not responded to inquiries made by various news outlets, leaving many questions unanswered regarding the motives behind the attack and the ongoing security measures.

This tragic incident comes shortly after Plateau state Governor, Caleb Mutfwang’s decision to ease the 24-hour curfew imposed on Mangu due to an ostensibly improved security situation. The curfew will now be enforced from 8 am to 4 pm, as stated by Governor Mutfwang. The recent clash underscores the challenges still faced in the region despite efforts to restore stability.

Minister of Power Addresses Nationwide Power Supply Reduction, Promises Swift Resolution

In a recent statement, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has shed light on the factors contributing to the reduction in electricity supply across Nigeria. According to Adelabu, the primary cause for the drop in power supply is the constraints faced by thermal generating companies due to decreased gas availability.

The revelation was made public on Friday through a statement from Bolaji Tunji, the special adviser for strategic communication and media relations to the Minister of Power. Adelabu emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the issue promptly, highlighting ongoing efforts to settle outstanding payments with power generation companies.

Read also:Bishop Feyi Daniels Biography, Age, Wife, Story, life Sentence, facts

“The main reason behind the decline in power supply is the reduced gas supply to generation companies. This has resulted in a diminished level of energy supplied to load centers, directly impacting the electricity distribution to consumers,” stated Adelabu.

He further explained that resolving outstanding payments to power generation companies is a key step in mitigating the challenges faced by the sector. This, in turn, is expected to enhance the electricity supply to distribution companies, enabling them to provide more consistent and reliable service to Nigerians.

Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Adelabu assured the public of an imminent turnaround in the power supply scenario. The federal government is actively working to overcome the gas constraints hindering thermal generating companies from operating at optimal capacity.

It’s worth noting that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) had previously attributed the decline in bulk power supply to similar gas constraints. Subsequently, Electricity Distribution Companies across the country issued apologies to consumers for the drop in power supply.

As the nation grapples with these challenges, the Minister of Power’s assurance of swift action and the government’s commitment to resolving outstanding issues brings a glimmer of hope for improved electricity supply in the near future.
