URGENT APPEAL FOR SWIFT ACTION: UNPAID STIPENDS PLAGUE NPOWER BENEFICIARIES

    Dear President Muhammadu Buhari,

I write this article with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency, hoping to shed light on a critical matter that demands your immediate attention. The non-payment of stipends to beneficiaries of the NPOWER program has caused immense distress and hardship for countless individuals and families across Nigeria. I implore you to take swift action to address this issue and restore the faith of the Nigerian people in their government’s commitment to their well-being.

For the past six months, NPOWER has failed to disburse stipends to a majority of its beneficiaries. The months of September, October, November, and December of 2023, as well as January, February, March, April, and May of 2023, remain unpaid, leaving beneficiaries in a state of financial uncertainty and despair. The reason provided for this delay is the claim that beneficiary accounts have been invalidated.

Adding insult to injury, the validation process introduced by the authorities has been riddled with technical glitches and inconsistencies. Beneficiaries have faced numerous challenges and roadblocks when attempting to validate their accounts, thereby impeding their access to the vital stipends they depend on for their livelihoods. Even those who successfully completed the validation process have not received a single payment.

This situation has created a dire state of affairs, as beneficiaries struggle to meet their basic needs and support their families. The unpaid stipends were meant to alleviate financial burdens and enable individuals to contribute to the economy. Instead, the prolonged delay has exacerbated the already difficult circumstances faced by these individuals, pushing them further into poverty and despair.

Furthermore, the disbursement of partial payments has only deepened the frustrations and confusion among beneficiaries. Some have received payments for two or three months, while others have not.

    Npower January stipend payment.

According to a reliable source close to NASIMS management, the positive update is that npower’s January stipend payment will be initiated next week on Wednesday.

Please be informed that the payment of Npower backlog stipends is still ongoing as of the time of this report.

    Dollar to Naira Exchange Crisis.

The dollar to naira exchange crisis has been a major concern for Nigerians for many years. The Nigerian currency has been losing value against the dollar, causing inflation and economic instability in the country. The shortage of foreign exchange and the devaluation of the naira have made it difficult for individuals and businesses to access foreign currency. This has led to a rise in the cost of goods and services, making life difficult for the average Nigerian. Despite efforts by the government to stabilize the exchange rate, the crisis has persisted, and many Nigerians are still struggling to cope with the economic realities caused by the devaluation of the naira.

Flying Eagles’ Coach Bosso Confident in Upsetting Argentina in U20 World Cup Clash.

San Juan, May 31, 2023 – As the FIFA U20 World Cup enters its Round of 16 stage, all eyes are on tonight’s highly anticipated match between Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and hosts Argentina. Ladan Bosso, the head coach of the Nigerian team, exudes confidence and believes his wards have what it takes to upset the much-fancied six-time champions.

Bosso, in a matter-of-fact manner, asserted that his team would not be intimidated by the physicality of their opponents or the electric atmosphere expected at the venue. Despite Argentina’s formidable record in the group stage, where they won all three matches against Uzbekistan, Guatemala, and New Zealand, scoring an impressive 10 goals while conceding only one, Bosso remains undeterred.

The Flying Eagles had a promising start to the tournament, triumphing in their first two matches, including an impressive victory over Italy, a team that had garnered early praise. However, they suffered a setback in their final group stage encounter against Brazil, leading some bookmakers to question their chances against the formidable home team.

In response to doubters, Bosso stated, “This is the World Cup, and it is wrong to underestimate any team.” He highlighted the fact that his team won two out of three matches and finished with the same number of points as Brazil and Italy in their group. Bosso firmly believes that his Africa Cup of Nations bronze medallists are no pushovers in this campaign.

Anticipation is building as the clash with Argentina looms. Bosso assured that his team would enter the field with determination, stating, “We will go in there and dig our feet into the ground.” Both Nigeria and Argentina are vying for a place in the quarterfinals, ensuring an enthralling encounter is on the horizon.

In other U20 World Cup news, the United States became the first team to secure their spot in the quarterfinals with a resounding 4-0 victory against New Zealand in Mendoza last night. Their dominant performance sets the bar high for the remaining teams in the tournament.

As the knockout stage heats up, football fans worldwide eagerly await the outcome of the Nigeria vs. Argentina clash, curious to see if the Flying Eagles can defy the odds and make their mark on the U20 World Cup.

Argentina U20 vs. Nigeria U20 kickoff time is 10pm Nigerian time.
