Oyedepo said he never spoke to any group of people on behalf of any politician.

He added that all political parties sought his prayers and advice before the election and he availed them.

    He said:

Nobody had ever told me what to say in this world. No.

“I have never campaigned for anybody or spoken on anybody’s behalf and I will not do that till I go to heaven.

There is no (political) party in this country that didn’t come to me for prayers and advice.

“I advised them, some, they didn’t take. Those who chose to take it, they see results; those who said no, they are going about it (laughs).

  • Palm Sunday, Origins Symbolism and all you need to know

Palm Sunday, Origins Symbolism and all you need to know

Palm Sunday is a Christian holiday celebrated on the Sunday preceding Easter. It commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, as described in the four Gospels of the New Testament.

Palm Sunday is also known as “Passion Sunday.” This name is frequently employed by Catholics and Protestants to signify the beginning of Christ’s Passion, which includes his suffering, crucifixion, and death. The name also emphasises that Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem marked the beginning of a chain of events that culminated in his crucifixion.

    History of Palm Sunday:

Palm Sunday is believed to have originated in Jerusalem in the fourth century. The earliest known Palm Sunday celebration occurred in 386 A.D. When the Spanish pilgrim Egeria documented the events of Holy Week in her journal. The celebration of Passion Sunday was not adopted in Rome until the seventh century, and from there it spread throughout the Christian world.

    The significance of Palm Sunday:

It derives its name from the palm fronds waved by the crowds as Jesus entered Jerusalem. According to the Gospels, the people spread their cloaks on the road and waved palm fronds, a customary greeting for kings and conquerors. The palm tree is symbolic of victory, triumph, and peace. The palms are also a symbol of Christ’s humility, as he entered Jerusalem on a donkey rather than a horse, which was the typical mode of transportation for kings and conquerors.

    Observance of Palm Sunday:

Palm Sunday is celebrated with fervour and devotion in numerous Christian churches across the globe. It marks the beginning of Holy Week, which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. In numerous churches, the service begins with a procession of clergy and congregants carrying palm branches and singing hymns. Following the blessing of the palm branches, the priest reads the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. Additionally, many churches host special musical performances, such as choir recitals and musical dramas.

In some countries, including Spain and Mexico, Passion Sunday is commemorated with a reenactment of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Participants in these processions wear traditional garb and carry large wooden crosses or statues of Jesus and the Virgin Mary. In countries such as Greece, Cyprus, and Russia, instead of palm branches, the faithful carry willow branches or olive branches.

Palm Sunday is a significant Christian holiday commemorating Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Holy Week culminates in Easter, the celebration of Christ’s resurrection. The waving of palm branches is a reminder of Christ’s humility and selfless love, symbolising victory, triumph, and peace. Passion Sunday is a time of great devotion and contemplation for Christians all over the world.

Tinubu’s Continuous Absence Raises Tension As Former Presidential Aide Questions His Whereabout

A few weeks after the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC declared the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election, there have been some controversial questions.

President-Elect Tinubu Resting In France, Needs More Prayers — Masari

According to a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, since the declaration by the INEC announcing Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election, it therefore means that Tinubu is officially Nigeria’ s President- elect and therefore, he cannot continue to be hiding from the people of Nigeria.

Reno Omokri alleged that Tinubu was not seen by anyone on his birthday, which was supposed to be a day when Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora should have celebrated him.

Reno went on to say that the President- elect has not been seen publicly for some weeks since his declaration as the winner of the 2023 presidential election, insisting that the video of Tinubu circulating on different social media platforms is an old video.

He claimed that the reason why those old videos were posted on social media was for nothing else but to fool Nigerians. He added that Tinubu did not stay to break the just- concluded Ramadan fast with the people of Nigeria.

Reno Omokri stated; ” Tinubu is officially a President- elect by INEC’ s declaration. He can’ t hide anymore. On his birthday nobody saw him. He hasn’ t appeared publicly in weeks. Old videos were circulated to fool the public. He is not breaking Ramadan fast with Nigerians. Where is Tinubu? #TableShaker

Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Rivers State, has condemned the arrest of three of his attorneys, who filed proceedings with the election petition tribunal to contest the March 18 Governorship election.

Cole claimed that five party support staff members were also arrested by the agents.

It was reported that the lawyers attached to the offices of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Tuduru Ede, were arrested at the Port Harcourt hotel where they were staying on Friday night.

The arrest occurred 48 hours after Cole led the party executive to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission to protest the commission’s refusal to release Certified True Copies of election-related documents, which would have allowed the party to move forward with its case before the tribunal.

On Saturday in Port Harcourt, Cole confirmed the arrest to the press and described the development as a rude awakening, stating that the agents seized the lawyers’ property.

“I was awakened this morning at 7 a.m. by a frantic phone call informing me that our attorneys and support staff had been arrested and removed from the hotel where they were staying,” he explained.

“By the time I hurried to the hotel, they had already departed.

“I was informed that they were transported to the Intelligence and Surveillance Unit in Ogbunabali” (Port Harcourt).

We were told that they had been transferred to the state criminal investigation department after being kept for over an hour.

“I have never heard of attorneys preparing a time-sensitive petition being arrested. Worrisomely, all of our evidence has been removed.

Now, can we have faith in the returned evidence? Before being taken away, the attorneys were writing their briefs. Now, the opposition is fully aware of our arguments. “I am stunned,” he stated.

While assuring that the arrest will be overturned, he insisted, “I will not leave until they are released.”

“These are attorneys who are legally preparing their petitions. “We cannot tell the Tribunal that we missed the deadline because our attorneys were arrested,” lamented the politician.

Cole noted that Rivers State is an exception, stating, “The police cannot continue to be utilized.

“I believe the police are being used against us. There is already evidence that the police were involved in the theft of election materials on election day. He pleaded with the Inspector General of Police to call them to order.

Man Evacuated From Aircraft Was Sent By APC, Same Person Was Used In Ebonyi To Terrorise Labour Party Supporters — Okoye

Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, has claimed that a man evacuated off an Abuja-to-Lagos flight for allegedly opposing the inauguration of the “president-elect”, Bola Tinubu on Friday was a mole of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

P-Square noted that the “drama” acted by the man was to give credence to a report of the Department of State Services that there were sinister plans going on to install an interim government by May 29, 2023

Ejes Gist News had earlier reported that security agents on Friday evening evacuated a yet-to-be-identified man off an Abuja-to-Lagos flight for allegedly opposing the inauguration of the “president-elect”, Bola Tinubu.

The lone protester had announced that Tinubu must never be sworn in as President on May 29, 2023.

It was gathered that it took the efforts of no fewer than six airport security officers to carry the man out after holding up the aircraft for more than an hour, as the 6pm flight had yet to move as of 7pm.

The man could be heard shouting while he was being carried off the aisle saying, “Obidients you’re here. They are doing this to me. Obidients you’re here, I am naked. Obidients you’re here, I am going naked.

It was reported on March 25 that the Department of State Services, Nigeria’s secret police, said there were plans to violently disrupt peace in the country.

Reacting to the incident, P-Square stated that the man offloaded from airplane was sent by the ruling APC, adding that he was the same person in Ebonyi that involved in terrorising Labour Party Obedients.

Meanwhile’ checks also revealed that the said man was the same man that was wearing the T-shirt with the picture of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Enugu State, Peter Mbah, in the recent past.

@PeterPsquare tweeted: “This people have no shame! We thought we’ve seen it all after the FAKE BISHOPS!

“The truth about APC Propaganda is finally OUT. watch next video. See d same guy on both videos. APC Propaganda is dead on arrival.”

The agency had recently raised a similar alert saying it had uncovered a plot to incite violence in some parts of the country, particularly the north-central zone.

However, the DSS in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, had warned those desperate to cause a breakdown of law and order to desist from that, noting that while some political players had sought redress in court, others were making inciting statements.orters

Why I Don’t Foresee Peter Obi Losing His Case Against Tinubu – Umar Farouk

As Nigerians brace themselves for the legal battle between President-elect Asiwaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Peter Gregory Obi over the outcome of the highly controversial presidential elections, a leader of the Labour Party, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, has spoken out to explain why he does not expect his candidate to lose.

Farouk, National Secretary of the Labour Party, said in an interview with our correspondent that he is confident the country’s judiciary will be upright and unbiased in its judgment and that it would be difficult for Obi not to emerge victorious under such circumstances.

“He said,” “I don’t think Nigeria will continue to be the same garbage dump forever. Peter Obi, the Labour Party, and the Obidients are going to bring about positive change in this country. I’m saying this because I don’t think we’ll lose this case. Obi will prevail in a fair and open trial. The Judiciary, in my opinion, will make the correct decision. I have faith that the wrong will be set right.”

Talks Of An Interim Government Wouldn’t Have Come Up If INEC Had Kept It’s Promise – Ex-DSS Director Mike Ejiofor

Former Director of Nigeria’s secret police, Mr. Mike Ejiofor has reacted to an alert issued by the Department of State Services.

He blamed Independent National Electoral Commission over talks of an interim government.

According to him, if INEC had conducted a free and fair election, no one will talk about interim government.

Recall that on March 29, 2023, the DSS made a statement saying that it had acquired information on “concerted efforts by some misguided politicians” to prevent the scheduled May 29 swearing-in of president-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by imposing an interim government.

Some of the dissatisfied presidential candidates were also accused of “heating the polity” by inciting nationwide rallies and legal action to get “frivolous injunctions,” according to the statement.

Ejiofor responded to the warning during an interview on Thursday’s episode of “Democracy Today” on African Independent Television, where he claimed that INEC’s failure to deliver a free, fair, credible, and transparent election on February 25, 2023 would have eliminated the need for an interim government.

He said “If INEC had delivered on its promises to Nigerians, the country would not be in the midst of a crisis right now. They said they would transmit the presidential election results in real time from the polling units to the IReV (INEC Result Viewing Portal), but this did not occur. My reasoning for this is that there were numerous violations, and if you examine the results, it is clear that Atiku Abubakar did not win.

“We saw how some people were canceling results and transmitting altered figures. How can this work? We have also heard some prominent lawyers express fears and doubts about the country’s judicial system, which is often seen as the last hope of the common man.”

He disclosed that military men who want to retake control are behind the plots for an interim administration. He claims that none of the individuals asking for an interim administration have given anything up for this nation. He declared unequivocally that Nigeria’s enemies will fail. House of Reps-elect, Ikenga Ugochinyere, Calls For Immediate Release of Eze Igbo

The House of Representatives member-elect for Ideato North/South federal constituency of Imo State, Ikenga Ugochinyere on Saturday called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately release the Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, Lagos, Fredrick Nwajagu, because the DSS is not fair in the discharge of its duties.

Ejes Gist News reports that Nwajagu was arrested earlier today (Saturday) by the agency and operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) over a viral video that showed him inviting members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to Lagos to protect the Igbos from alleged targeted attacks.

Ugochinyere wondered where the security agencies were when some notable All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters made “inciting comments” against the Igbos.

He recalled the intimidation and ‘violent attacks’ suffered by persons of Igbo extraction who are residing in Lagos State before and during elections.

Ugochinyere said: “Are the security agencies now engaging in preferential treatments? Are the DSS and Police agencies for the protection of lives and properties of the people of Nigeria or are they only serving the interest of the ruling government. APC spokesman Bayo Onanuga, after the emergence of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner of the Lagos gubernatorial poll, threatened that Igbo should never interfere in Lagos politics. He later described Igbos as threat to the Yorubas, yet he hasn’t been arrested.

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Onicha-Olona ward 4,Aniocha LGA, Delta State, has suspended aide to President Buhari and Chairperson of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Lauretta Onochie

After review of her conduct during the just concluded general elections, executives of the party in Onicha-Olona, Ward 4 in Aniocha North approved her suspension from the party.

According to a statement issued by the Party, Onochie allegedly campaigned for candidates of opposition parties, especially the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. She was accused of instructing her allies and supporters to work for the PDP making the ruling party to lose in her polling unit.

They also claimed that she has never met her financial obligations to the party neither does she attend Ward, LGA meetings or any of the party’s engagements alike.

    The suspension letter signed by 27 Ward Executives reads thus;

We have painstakingly reviewed the conduct of the just concluded general elections at all levels and have noted, with dismay, that Lorreta Onochie, who is one of the leaders of our great party, worked against the success of the party in Onicha-Olona Ward 4,and beyond.

Information available to us show very clearly that she was openly campaigning for candidates of opposition parties, especially the People’s Democratic Party,in the run-up to the Presidential and National Assembly,as well as the Governorship and State House of Assembly Election. It was also observed that all her allies and supporters were working for the PDP in the state. The evidence of this could be seen in the fact that the party lost in her polling unit(unit 8,ward 4)in the Presidential,Senatorial,House of Representatives,Governorship and State Assembly Elections.

We also noted that she has failed to fulfill her financial obligations to the party and has never attended any ward&LGA meetings or other party engagements.

In the light of these grievous infractions discovered in her as stated in Article 21.2(i)(ii),we have lost confidence in her membership of the party and hereby suspend her from the party with immediate effect.

UNN Lecturer who manipulated Enugu election results not fit to be close to university students — NGO

UNN Lecturer Who Manipulated Enugu Election Results Not Fit To Be Close To University Students — NGO

A nongovernmental organisation has called on authorities of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), to terminate the services of Dr. Nnaemeka Ogbene, the Computer Science lecturer allegedly in the middle of the election manipulation scandal in Enugu State.

Oluwakemi Roland, founder and Executive Director of Odara Foundation, said the university authorities must act quickly to preserve the integrity of the academia as well as protect vulnerable students from a man, who according to her, has no scruples and could also possibly compromise the integrity of university examinations and other academic qualification tests.

Roland, who said her organisation is scandalized by what she described as the flagrant abuse of electoral processes during the recently concluded Enugu State Governorship elections, wondered how a university lecturer would allegedly involve in the manipulation of voter numbers with such impunity and still be allowed to return to teach students.

JUST IN: INEC Declares PDP winner of Enugu governorship election

“We have followed the developments in the Enugu State Gubernatorial elections, which held on March 18, 2023, with keen interest and feel compelled to speak on the disturbing roles played by university lecturers, because of what we see as their direct roles in the character formation of our children and impressionable young adults,” she said.

Roland said her organisation finds it “extremely disturbing that a lecturer of Computer Science would be involved in such purported manipulation of figures. We have since read, and our investigations have confirmed, that the election results in Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state, was grossly inflated to favour one political party. In this Local government area, the Returning Officer, one Dr. Nnaemeka Ogbene, entered a figure of slightly above 32,000 for total votes cast in an election where only 7,435 voters were captured to have legally and lawfully participated in the voting process.”

Continuing, she said: “Election malpractices is what we are dealing with, and any lecturer who involves in it, will have no scruples engaging in examination malpractices in the university. Election malpractices, as far as we are concerned, I examination malpractices on a larger scale. A perpetrator of one must, as a matter of process, graduate from the other. This is why we see what happened in Enugu as red flag, and the university authorities must do all in its powers to ensure that our young students are protected from being toxified by lecturers of such bankrupt morals.”

Wondering how Dr. Ogbene was able to make 32,000 votes out of a total of just above 7,000 accredited voters, Roland said the person responsible for such an act lacks character and should not be allowed to stand before students as teacher and role model.

“We are aware that the University of Nigeria Nsukka prides itself as an institution whose motto is “To Restore the Dignity of Man,” but the situation before us where a lecturer with such base morals has not only challenged the dignity of mankind as a whole, but also put the university before the entire world, calls for urgent and decisive action. Everyone is watching to see how this great citadel of learning responds to such a crushing moral and integrity challenge. It must live up to its name and mantra by weeding out Dr Ogbene and other bad examples like him, who neither have personal integrity nor care about the dignity of mankind that the university espouses,” the Executive Director stated.

The statement, which described Dr. Ogbene’s action as shameful, also said the excuses given by the Returning Officer for the discrepancies in the results he turned was untenable, insisting it was incumbent on the university don to have taken every step that would have ensured that the integrity of the voter data he was turning in was sacrosanct.

“We need to protect our children from moral pollutants like Dr Ogbene. We need to keep him and his likes as far away from our children as we possibly can. Character is infectious, and when a bad character is a person who dispenses knowledge to young people, we then have a big problem in our hands,” she said
