Nigerian workers under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) have instructed their members nationwide to immediately cut off gas and crude oil supply to Dangote Refinery.

The directive was issued in a letter by PENGASSAN General Secretary, Lumumba Okugbawa, addressed to branch leaders across oil and gas companies.

The union cited the refinery’s termination of over 800 workers—allegedly for joining the union—as the reason for the action.

Key Orders in the Letter:

  • Cut off gas supply from NGIC to Dangote Refinery immediately
  • Shut all crude oil supply valves into the refinery
  • Halt loading of any vessels bound for Dangote Refinery

Dangote has responded by asserting that the workforce reductions were part of a reorganisation aimed at curbing “acts of sabotage.”

This confrontation intensifies concerns over supply chain disruptions, energy security, and the rights of labour in Nigeria’s oil sector.
