Exam Body Disowns Fake WASSCE Timetable Circulating Online, Warns Students

The attention of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has been drawn to a document making the rounds on social media and various messaging platforms, purporting to be the official timetable for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a terse but crucial statement released to the public, the Council has distanced itself from the circulating document, describing it as unauthorized and urging Nigerian students, parents, and school proprietors to treat it with the utmost suspicion.

For many Nigerian students currently in SS2 and preparing to enter their final year, the release of the WASSCE timetable is a critical milestone. However, WAEC has now clarified that the document currently in circulation is not from its official desk.

According to the statement, any timetable that does not originate directly from the Branch Controller or the Head of Exams in the various WAEC Zonal and Branch Offices across the country should be disregarded.

“It has been brought to the notice of the Council that a timetable purportedly for the above mentioned exam is circulating. Please note that that particular timetable did not emanate from the Council, and as such should be disregarded,” the statement read in part.

The examination body further emphasized that the only authentic timetable is one that comes through its official channels. Parents and guardians are advised to wait for the final, approved version, which will be shared on the Council’s official platforms once it is ready.

“Any timetable that did not come from the BRANCH CONTROLLER OR HEAD OF EXAMS SHOULD BE DISREGARDED. ALSO NOTE THAT WHEN THE FINAL TIMETABLE IS RELEASED, IT WILL BE SHARED ON THIS PLATFORM,” WAEC added.
