After killing seven people in three sites in Anambra yesterday, gunmen killed four more people in two more locations in the state today.

They set fire to vehicles and stormed a police station in Anaku, Ayamelum Local Government Area.

The murders took place at Ogbunike, in the Oyi Local Government Area.

According to reports, the gunmen stormed a local cow market.

In Peter Obi’s Agulu community in Anaocha Local Government Area, another person was slain, and a patrol van was set ablaze.

Ikenga Tochukwu, a police spokeswoman, declined to comment.

However, the Anaku event was corroborated by another police source.

Recall that it was another dark Sunday in , following the murder of seven people by gunmen in separate villages across the state.

Gunmen were claimed to have stormed Orumba North LGA’s Isulo and Nanka, as well as Idemili North LGA’s Abatete.

According to reports, four siblings and their mother were killed in the Isulo incident.

At Abatete, two people were killed, while another was killed in Nanka Orumba North LGA.

According to witnesses, the gunmen assaulted such sites, fired fire on the victims, and then fled.

Tochukwu Ikenga, a state police spokesman, said the circumstances of the occurrences were still unclear when reached.

Ikenga went on to say that the command will discuss the incidences on Monday, when they had a better understanding of what had happened.

However, a senior police official who declined to be named confirmed the Isulo event.

He claimed that the woman and her children did not resemble Igboland residents.

“I have not gotten the signals of those ones,” he said when asked about the other two places.

Tensions have already risen in the state as a result of the gunmen’s frequent strikes in recent months.
