The Full Details of the Governors’ Meeting on the APC National Convention have emerged.
Ejes Gist News reports that the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), an umbrella body of governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, has confirmed that the party’s National Convention will take place in February.
Atiku Bagudu, Governor of Kebbi and Chairman of the PGF, gave the assurance to journalists after a closed-door meeting in Abuja on Sunday night.

Bagudu, who did not give a specific date for the event, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s February date was sacred and still feasible for the event’s conduct.
He went on to say that the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), as the party’s organ, was in the best position to announce the convention’s specific date.
“In the party, we are one group of stakeholders, and our party respects institutions.” The CECPC is the appropriate organ of the party to announce a date for the national convention,” he said.

The meeting, according to Bagudu, gave the Buni-led CECPC and two other governors, Niger’s Muhammed Bello and Osun’s Gboyega Oyetola, a vote of confidence.
He said the governors had done an incredible job of successfully running the party and mobilizing people into the fold, and that the PGF was very pleased with their actions.
“We talked about our upcoming convention, which you may recall I had to address the press about after we visited President Buhari in November 2021, where the president and the party agreed that the convention would be held in February,” he said.
“We took feedback on the reviews and noted all of the press misrepresentations that we seek to correct,” Bagudu said. “The PGF is one united body, as you can see from the attendance.”
He stated that the decision of the forum was unanimous, and that the group was united behind the president and the caretaker committee of the party.
Following Buhari’s approval that the party’s national convention be held in February, the APC Buni-led CECPC has been under intense pressure to set a specific date for the event, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
