Ex-Militant Leader, Sobomabo Jackrich ‘Egberipapa’ Regains Freedom

Sobomabo Jackrich, also known as ‘Egberipapa,’ a gubernatorial candidate of the National Rescue Movement in the 2023 Rivers State elections, has been released from custody.

 

According to Vanguard, the former militant leader regained his freedom on the evening of Wednesday, April 10, and has since reunited with some of his loyalists and allies in Port Harcourt.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Sobomabo Jackrich was released on Wednesday evening but has refrained from speaking to anyone as he consults with his associates.

 

The source further mentioned that there is currently a denial from the army regarding their involvement in the incident, making the matter quite sensitive.

Additionally, Chief Seliye Jackrich, an Elder in the Compound Council of Chiefs of Ike Group of Houses, reportedly acknowledged being informed about Sobomabo’s release but stated that they have yet to physically see him.

He said;

“As a family we have just heard this night that he has been released, but we have not seen him and he as not called anybody to say that he has been released. We only heard on the radio that he has has been released. We cannot confirm his release.”
