BREAKING: Two Commissioners Resign from Abia State Governor Otti’s Cabinet
Two Abia State Executive Council Members Resign Voluntarily.
Abia State – There has been a serious revamping of the Abia State Executive Council as two members resigned their positions. The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, who made the disclosure, insisted that contrary to earlier speculations, the resignations were voluntarily submitted.
The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Chima Oriaku, and the Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. Monica Ironkwe, have handed in their resignation letters to Governor Alex Otti. What remains a mystery is why they resigned.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor thanked the governor and appreciated their services and commitments made to the state. “We thank Mr. Chima Oriaku and Prof. Monica Ironkwe for their services and sacrifice to the state. We wish them well in their future endeavours”, the statement read.
This comes barely a week since the suspension of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, who was removed to enable an investigation into her activities. Details of such an investigation have not been made public, but he underlined what could safely be described as a period of full administrative changes in Governor Otti’s cabinet.
Editor’s commentary:
The recent suspension and earlier voluntary resignations are pointers to the fact that the state’s executive landscape is subject to dynamic change, as the administration remains resilient in fighting its soul on both the internal and external fronts. The stakeholders and watchers of Abia State will therefore be keen on how this reshuffle affects government efficiency against all it is presently doing. More details on these areas are therefore expected with the best of time.
