.… INEC Blocks NDC From Nomination Portal – Party Cries Sabotage
The presidential candidature of Peter Obi has been thrown into uncertainty after the Independent National Electoral Commission denied the Nigeria Democratic Coalition access to the nomination portal, withholding the crucial access code needed to upload candidates’ names.
Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune, the party’s National Spokesman, Osa Director, revealed that NDC officials approached INEC to obtain the mandatory access credentials but were stonewalled by officials who simply told them to expect a response.

“We approached INEC to collect the access code to upload the names of our candidates to the INEC portal. They told us that they will get back to us,” Director stated.
He insisted that the party’s failure to complete the mandatory upload before a recent court-ordered deregistration should not be interpreted as negligence on its part, but rather as a direct consequence of INEC’s refusal to grant access.
Legal Pushback Underway
The spokesman further disclosed that the party is pursuing a two-pronged strategy: returning to INEC for another attempt while simultaneously seeking legal cover to halt the deregistration process.
“We will go back there by tomorrow. I believe by tomorrow we must have filed a stay of execution in court,” he added.
The development comes amid a Federal High Court judgment directing INEC to deregister the NDC, a ruling that has thrown the party’s future into uncertainty even as it struggles to meet nomination deadlines.
Whether INEC’s delay is administrative or strategic remains unclear, but for now, the Obi candidacy hangs in limbo — caught between an uncooperative electoral body and a court order threatening to wipe his party off the ballot.
