Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday credited the achievements of his administration over the past three years to what he described as divine grace, wisdom and sustained mercy from God.

Ejes Gist News reports that the governor made the remarks at the 2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day held at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, as the state marked the third anniversary of his administration.

Oborevwori said the event was organised to return gratitude to God for guidance since he assumed office on May 29, 2023, noting that the journey so far had been marked by “eventful, challenging and rewarding experiences.”

He stated that the state’s development trajectory over the past three years had been driven by prudent financial management and what he described as disciplined implementation of government policies.

According to him, all ongoing and completed projects were backed by verified funding, insisting that the state had executed infrastructure development without resorting to borrowing.

“We are here to thank God for the wisdom to execute development projects across the state without borrowing a kobo from any bank or individual. Every contract awarded has been backed by available funds, and we have continued to meet our obligations to contractors,” he said.

The governor further highlighted sustained peace and security as a key factor supporting development and investment inflow into the state, describing stability as central to economic growth.

He commended security agencies for maintaining order, while acknowledging the contributions of past administrations led by Chief James Ibori, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, noting that his government continues to build on their foundations.

Oborevwori also appreciated the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, members of the State House of Assembly led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, traditional institutions, civil servants, political stakeholders and religious leaders for their roles in governance and development.

He called for continued unity among residents, urging Deltans to sustain their support as the administration moves into its next phase of governance.

“Delta State is our home. We have no other state. What matters is our collective commitment to building it together. With unity and shared purpose, Delta will continue to move forward,” he said.

In his sermon titled Ever Increasing Progress, renowned cleric, Apostle Joshua Selman, emphasized that sustainable progress is rooted in spiritual alignment, discipline and consistent pursuit of knowledge.

Selman highlighted principles such as remaining focused, building meaningful relationships, humility, courage, and maintaining a lifestyle of gratitude as essential drivers of long-term growth.

He also commended the Delta State government for institutionalising annual thanksgiving events, describing it as a reflection of gratitude and leadership consciousness.

The programme featured scripture reading by the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, and praise sessions led by gospel artistes including Dunsin Oyekan, Moses Bliss, Asu Ekiye, Solomon Urete, M & Revelation, Jerry Ekpekuro and Solo Kings.

A symbolic highlight of the event was the cutting of the third anniversary cake, marking three years of the Oborevwori administration.

Dignitaries present included former Governors Chief James Ibori and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Speaker Emomotimi Guwor, Senators Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and Ede Dafinone, alongside members of the National Assembly and other senior political figures.
