Akute-Odo, Ifo, Ogun State – Residents of Akute-Odo in Ifo Local Government Area were thrown into panic on Monday morning after assailants invaded Christ Crusaders’ Deliverance Ministries and brutally murdered the church’s security guard, popularly known as Baba Iwo.
Ejes Gist News reports that the attack occurred around 1 a.m., during a power outage in the community. Eyewitness accounts and video evidence indicate that Baba Iwo confronted unusual movements inside the church and went to investigate with his cutlass. He was overpowered by multiple attackers and hacked on the altar, leaving his body on a blood-soaked rug with his neck nearly severed.

Local youths reportedly intervened during the assault. One suspect was apprehended while fleeing the scene, sustaining injuries in the struggle. The individual was handed over to the Ajuwon Police Division. Residents said two local people were also injured during the apprehension.
Authorities said the suspect claimed he and his accomplices “cut people’s heads,” prompting police to review CCTV footage to determine the presence of additional attackers. Investigations have been transferred to the Ogun State Criminal Investigation Department. The body of Baba Iwo has been released to the family for burial according to Islamic rites.

This incident has intensified security concerns in Akute-Odo. It follows the recent deaths of gospel artiste Matthew Ogundele and three crew members, found slain in a local music studio less than a week ago.
Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as investigations continue.
