FG Officially Increases NYSC Members’ Monthly Allowance to ₦77,000
The latest news in Nigeria now is that the Federal Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.
This announcement was made on Wednesday by Caroline Embu, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations for the NYSC.

The decision, which will be backdated to July 2024, comes as part of a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, dated September 25, 2024, and signed by its Chairman, Ekpo Nta.
This adjustment aligns with the newly approved minimum wage of ₦70,000 for Nigerian workers, recently enacted by President Bola Tinubu.

Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed, the Director General of the NYSC, expressed gratitude for the government’s commitment to the welfare of corps members, stating that the increase in allowance is expected to significantly boost the morale of the corps members as they contribute to national service.
In his statement, Ahmed noted, “The Federal Government has approved the increase of corps members’ monthly allowance to ₦77,000 with effect from July 2024.

This increase is in line with the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024. The NYSC appreciates the timely gesture and is optimistic that it will bring much-needed succour to corps members.
He further highlighted that this initiative reflects the government’s acknowledgment of the contributions of corps members and is aimed at motivating them to continue their dedicated service to the nation.
