EdoDecides2024: INEC Uploads 90.33% of Election Results on IReV.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully uploaded 90.33% of the results from the Edo State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV). This marks significant progress, with results from 4,082 out of the 4,519 polling units across the state now available online.

Earlier today, Edo’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Anugbum Onuoha, reassured the public during an interview with Arise Television that the electronic transmission of results would proceed without major hitches, provided no network disruptions occurred.

“We have trained operators for the BVAS, and they are ready. BVAS is designed to accredit voters and record the total number of eligible voters at each polling unit. Once voting is completed, results will be counted and uploaded to our IReV,” Onuoha explained.

With over 2.2 million permanent voter cards (PVCs) collected, major candidates—including Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP)—are vying for the governorship seat.

The winner will succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki, whose tenure ends on November 11, 2024, after serving two terms.
