FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Issues Threat to PDP Governors Supporting Fubara.

 

In a fiery statement, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has warned governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who support Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

 

Speaking during the Rivers State PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, Wike declared, “Not while we live will anybody take the PDP structure from us. I hear that some governors claim they will take the structure and give it to somebody. I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states.

Wike’s comments reflect growing tensions within the PDP, particularly following Fubara’s emergence as governor in 2023. The relationship between Wike and Fubara has soured, leading to significant internal strife, including a divided legislative arm in Rivers State.

Addressing the congress, Wike emphasized his commitment to retaining control of the party, asserting that any attempt to alter the party’s structure would be met with severe consequences. “We are party members, we have taken over our party members. We will not leave for anybody or allow anybody to take the party from us,” he stated.

The former Rivers State governor expressed frustration over the PDP governors who have continued to back Fubara, warning that their support for him would result in dire repercussions. “Whether you are in Bauchi or wherever, your hands will get burnt. You will never see peace again,” Wike threatened, signaling his resolve to confront any opposition to his control over the party.

Despite attempts by party members to mediate the situation, the conflict remains unresolved, further exacerbating the factionalism within the PDP.
