The police are investigating claims of “criminal intimidation, malicious damage to properties, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.” This new development adds to the growing legal challenges faced by the NLC leadership.
According to the invitation, Ajaero’s name has emerged in ongoing investigations related to the alleged crimes. The document, seen by SaharaReporters, stated that both Ajaero and Ugboaja are required to appear for an interview with the Deputy Inspector General of Police at the Force Intelligence Department Complex in Abuja on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11 a.m.
The letter urged Ajaero and Ugboaja to cooperate with the investigation, noting that further details could be obtained by contacting a specific officer upon arrival.
This recent summons follows an earlier invitation extended to Ajaero by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), where he was accused of “criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.”
As the investigation progresses, the NLC’s leadership finds itself under increasing pressure, raising concerns about the future of labor relations in Nigeria.
