BREAKING: Governorship candidate in Cross River escapes assassination attempt, two shot dead

Usani Uguru Usani, a former minister of Niger Delta affairs, is said to have narrowly avoided an attempted murder near Betem, Biase LGA.
In the failed kidnapping attempt, four people were taken hostage; three of them have since been freed, while the fourth remains detained.
The PRP Cross River governorship candidate’s media aide, David Agabi, said that the driver was wounded and that the car had been plundered and shot up. Immediately after being shot, two males inside the second car died.

Meanwhile, kidnappers in Cross River kill two victims while taking numerous hostages into the wilderness along the Biase highway. Recall that Associate Professor Gertrude Njar, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, was abducted on February 1st, 2023.
