Eladio’s passion for creating his own music grew stronger as he aged. In 2015, he made his debut as a singer-songwriter with the release of his very first single, “Si Tu Quieres”, which he wrote and produced himself. Eladio’s song quickly became a sensation, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the Latin music industry.

In 2016, Eladio Carrion, a rapper and singer known for his reedy baritone and smooth freestyle delivery, made a splash in the Puerto Rican music scene with his revolutionary music video for “Me Enamoré de una Yal.” The musician’s innovative beatmaking, captivating melodies, and composition have garnered admiration from both fellow musicians and audiences alike.

In 2018, he achieved great success in the Latin rap scene after collaborating with Yann C, Darkiel, and Myke Towers on the music video for “Sigue Bailandome,” propelling him to become one of the most highly sought-after Latin rappers in the industry. Zion and the speaker collaborated on the track “Mi Error,” which achieved a Top 20 ranking and has amassed more than 33 million views on YouTube. During the period, there were several streaming successes worth noting. Among them were “Kemba Walker” featuring Bad Bunny, “Animal” with Myers, and “Candela” featuring Ecko.

In addition to renowned musicians such as Balvin, Lunay, Yandel, and Cazzu, the artist also collaborated with emerging talents like Corina Smith on “Todo o Nada” and Natanael Cano, Ovi, and Noriel on “Ele Uve.” Out of the 14 tracks featured on the album, a total of nine were performed solo. At number eleven on the Top Latin Albums chart is where the collection landed.

Over the course of several months, Carrión was seen on multiple occasions on the shows “Quedata Sola” alongside Jon Z and Myke Towers, as well as “Nube” with Chucky73. In June of the same year, he unveiled his solo track titled “Sauce Boy Freestyle 4”. Additionally, he was showcased in a Bzrp Music Sessions volume that achieved the 10th spot on the Latin Rhythm albums chart.

Carrión dropped his latest trap album, SEN2 KBRN, Vol. 1, in July. The album features nine tracks and has a runtime of 27 minutes. Despite collaborating with several producers, this marked the artist’s debut album where he played all the instruments himself. Debuting at number 20 on the Top Latin Albums chart is the album featuring the tracks “Sauce Boy Freestyle, Vol. 4” and “Al Capone”.

In December, Carrión made a comeback with his third effort, Sauce Boyz 2, before the year came to a close. The extended release, which lasted over an hour, featured appearances from a number of high-profile celebrities including Jon Z, Ovi, KAROL G, and many others.

Eladio has been consistently releasing chart-topping hits and collaborating with renowned names in the music industry. Renowned for its infectious melodies and catchy beats, his music often delves into themes of love, heartbreak, and resilience through his lyrics.

Eladio’s philanthropic work is well-known in addition to his successful music career. Having collaborated with entities such as the Boys and Girls Club, he has extended his assistance and resources to less fortunate children in Puerto Rico.

Georgina “Gina” Deuters is the wife of Stephen Deuters, Johnny Depp’s longtime employee and collaborator. Deuters’ testimony, however, was cancelled, and she was dismissed from the courtroom after admitting to watching trial clips online before taking the stand. How did they know Georgina Deuters was dismissed?

PDP Exploiting Social Media to Intimidate Judges — Supreme Court Sounds Alarm

The Supreme Court has harshly criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its use of social media to intimidate its judges.

Justice Inyang Okoro, a member of the Supreme Court, reportedly made this damning accusation while delivering a verdict on Friday.

The case at hand involved an appeal filed by the PDP contesting the election victory of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on the basis that his running mate, Kashim Shettima, was accused of double nomination.

A five-member panel of the supreme court unanimously rejected the appeal on the grounds that the PDP lacked standing to file such a lawsuit.

Justice Okoro emphasized that the appellant attempted to mislead the court by asserting that the lower court had found double nomination.

“After carefully reviewing the entire case file and the lower court’s ruling, no such finding was discovered,” said Justice Okoro.

“It is disheartening to observe the senior counsel mislead the court in this manner. The use of social media to threaten and intimidate Supreme Court justices is both shocking and unprofessional.

Shettima officially withdrew his nomination for the Borno Central District on July 6, 2022, as evidenced by exhibits presented in court, explained Justice Okoro.

In addition, the judge clarified that the political party notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the withdrawal on the same day. The court emphasized that, contrary to the appellant’s claim, there was no possibility of double nomination on July 14, 2022.

The Supreme Court harshly criticised the PDP’s unprofessional and abhorrent tactics.

Ultimately, the appeal was dismissed for lack of merit. In addition, the court upheld the award of costs as stated in the leading opinion.

BREAKING: Court Declares IGP’s Appointment and Stay in Office Illegal

Court Declares Usman Alkali Baba, IGP’s Appointment and Stay in Office Illegal

Usman Alkali, the current Inspector-General of Police, has been deemed an illegal occupant of his office by Justice Fatun Riman of the Federal High Court in Awka.

The court ruled that Alkali’s appointment and continued tenure in office are unlawful and unconstitutional.

This judgement was marked as FHC/AKW/CS/58/2023 and was the result of a lawsuit filed by taxpayer Okechukwu Nwafor.

Justice Riman emphasised that only an officer with the required rank and a minimum of four years of service may be appointed Inspector General of Police. With less than four years of service, Alkali was deemed ineligible for the position.

In addition, the court ordered Alkali Baba to stop posing as the Inspector-General of Police. It also instructed the President to convene a meeting of the Nigeria Police Council in order to appoint a new Inspector-General for a four-year term.

In this case, the defendants include President Usman Alkali Baba of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and the Nigeria Police Council.

In a judgement handed down on May 19 and made available to our correspondent on Saturday, the court ruled that Alkali’s appointment violates Sections 215 (a) and 216 (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), as well as Sections 7 (2), (6), and 18 (8) of the Nigeria Police Act, 2020. It was stated that Alkali’s inability to meet the mandatory tenure requirements for the position of Inspector-General of Police is evident.

Justice Riman added that allowing Alkali to hold the position would be absurd and a violation of Section 7(6) of the Nigeria Police Act of 2020.

According to Section 18 (8) of the Nigeria Police Act, 2020, the court also ruled that the President lacks the authority to extend a police officer’s retirement conditions.

In his decision, Justice Riman carefully considered the arguments presented by both sides’ solicitors. Justice A. K. Mohammed and Justice J. O. Omotosho, which dealt with the interpretation of pertinent constitutional and legal provisions, were not submitted for examination in the counter affidavit or filed with the court, he noted. Consequently, he argued that these decisions did not provide the court with any guidance.

According to Section 215 (1) (6) of the Constitution, the President appoints the Inspector-General of Police based on the advice of the Nigeria Police Council (NPC), which consists of the President, the Governors, the Chairman of the Police Commission, and the Inspector-General of Police. He also cited Section 7 (3) of the Police Act of 2020, which outlines the Inspector-General’s term of office.

The court ruled that the Inspector-General of Police’s term will end in February 2023, four years after February 2021. By 1 March 2023, Alkali attained the age of 60 and had completed 35 years of service with the Nigeria Police Force. As a public servant bound by Federal Public Rules 299 (PSR), which mandates retirement at age 60 or after 35 years of service, Justice Riman concluded that Alkali must resign on March 1, 2023.

Senate Amends Act To Increase FG’s Borrowing Limit From CBN

The Senate has amended the CBN Act to increase the amount the federal government can borrow from the central bank.

On Saturday, the Red Chamber passed the amendment during an emergency session.
As of December 19, 2022, the CBN had loaned the federal government approximately N22.7 trillion through its Ways and Means Advances.

Read Also: Senate Convene For Emergency Meeting, see details

The Ways and Means provision permits the government to borrow from the central bank if it requires short-term or emergency financing to cover fiscal deficits caused by delayed cash receipts expected by the government.

However, the CBN’s N22.7 trillion loan to the federal government violated the law, as the advances are far in excess of the limit the central bank is authorized to extend.

Section 38 of the CBN Act states, “The Bank (CBN) may grant temporary advances to the Federal Government for temporary budget deficits at a rate determined by the Bank.”

“The total outstanding balance of such advances shall never exceed five percent of the previous year’s actual Federal government revenues.”

If the CBN had followed its own regulations, its loan to the government for the entirety of 2022 should not have exceeded N219 billion (five percent of the government’s revenue in 2022).

Senate Amends Act To Increase FG’s Borrowing Limit From CBN

On Saturday, during an emergency session, the Red Chamber amended the CBN Act to increase the maximum CBN advances to the federal government from 5% to 15%.

During a lead debate on the bill, the Senate Majority Leader, Ibrahim Gobir, stated that the amendment would allow the government to meet its immediate and future obligations regarding the approval of ways and means by the National Assembly and advances to the Federal Government by the CBN.

The federal government unlawfully borrowed and spent N22.7 trillion without the approval of the National Assembly.

The federal government had stated that it would repay the loan, which was used to fund vital projects, through the issuance of securities such as treasury bills and bonds.

President Muhammadu Buhari asked the Senate to approve his proposal to securitize the loan last year, but the Red Chamber denied the request due to a lack of specifics.

Earlier in May, however, the Senate approved the request on the recommendation of its special committee established to review the president’s request and the submissions made by the finance ministry and CBN.

As representatives of the Nigerian people, senators are tasked with analyzing and ensuring the effectiveness and relevance of bills to the country’s financial landscape and overall governance.

The Nigerian Senate typically holds its plenary sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, making this emergency meeting an exception to the norm. Due to the urgency of the issues at hand, an extraordinary session was required to ensure timely deliberation and decision-making.

As the senators convene to engage in robust debate, the outcome of the emergency plenary will have significant repercussions for the nation’s fiscal policies, appropriation, and Central Bank of Nigeria operations. Diverse sectors’ stakeholders will eagerly await the legislative session’s conclusions and potential amendments.

Nigerians anticipate that as the debate progresses, the deliberations will yield decisions that contribute positively to the nation’s economic growth and stability.

Appeal Court Suspends Judgment On Alex Otti, Other LP Candidates

Court Suspends Judgment On Alex Otti

In a significant development, the Court of Appeal in Kano State has stayed the execution of the judgement handed down by Justice M N Yunusa of the Kano Federal High Court.

Recall that all votes cast for Labour Party (LP) candidates in Kano, Abia, and other states were declared void by the court.

Read Also: Apapa rubbish Abure, Describes Court Judgment Restraining his Faction as Mockery, Reveals Next Line of Action

The stay of execution is the result of a petition filed by Dr. Alex Otti, the incoming governor of Abia State. Otti’s legal team appealed for his inclusion as a party of interest and requested the suspension of the lower court’s ruling until the Court of Appeal has fully decided the case.

The Appeal Court has granted Otti’s request and halted the implementation of the Federal High Court’s decision temporarily. This decision suspends the judgment’s consequences pending the outcome of the appeal.

Recalling the earlier ruling, the court declared that Alex Otti and other LP candidates in Abia State were not selected in accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Act of 2022.

Mr. Ibrahim Haruna Ibrahim filed a lawsuit against the Labour Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which resulted in the court’s decision.

The court determined that the entire selection process was invalid because the LP failed to submit its membership list to INEC at least 30 days before the primaries.

In his lawsuit, Ibrahim demanded that the court nullify the Certificate of Return issued to all LP candidates and direct INEC to declare the runner-up as the winner in all areas where the LP won.

Also Read: Children’s day: Seven basic needs of a child

On May 22, however, the LP’s attorney, Umeh Kalu SAN, filed an appeal seeking to overturn the trial court’s decision. Kalu argued that the trial court committed a legal error and a miscarriage of justice by allowing a case to proceed without a valid cause of action.

He argued that according to Section 285 of the Constitution of 1999, Election Tribunals have exclusive authority over complaints regarding candidate participation and votes cast in general elections.

The Court of Appeal will now examine the merits of the case, allowing both parties to present their arguments, now that the stay of execution has been granted. The decision represents a temporary reprieve for Alex Otti and other LP candidates, whose fate remains uncertain until the appellate court renders a decision.

As the legal proceedings continue, political observers and interested parties eagerly await the outcome of the appeal, as it will have significant implications for the electoral process and candidate selection in Abia State and beyond.

Apapa Camp Describes Court Judgment Restraining Faction as Mockery, Reveals Next Line of Action

Lamidi Apapa, the factional national chairman of the Labour Party, has spoken out against a recent ruling by an Edo State High Court, which allegedly reinstated Julius Abure as the party’s substantive national chairman.

Justice Emmanuel Okey Aihamoje, presiding over the Edo State High Court, dismissed on Friday the suspension notice issued against Barrister Julius Abure by members of his Ward 3 Executives in the Esan North East local government area of the state.

Read Also: BREAKING: Former BBNaija Star is Dead, Cause of death emerge (Photo)

This online newspaper learned that Abure and a number of other ward executives had filed the lawsuit.

According to the Labour Party constitution (specifically Articles 17 and 19) and the amended Electoral Act of 2022, Justice Aihamoje ruled that the Ward 3 executive of the Labour Party lacked the authority to remove the national chairman.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Apapa faction, Dr. Abayomi Arabambi, expressed his disagreement during a visit to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council Secretariat.

Arabambi argued that a lower court cannot litigate a case that is pending before the Court of Appeals and derided the celebration of the decision as a joke.

“Our attorneys have filed a motion to halt the execution of the Edo State High Court’s ruling,” declared Arabambi.

Also Read: Edo High Court quashes suspension of Abure from Labour Party

In addition, he criticised the opposing faction for engaging in forum shopping and stated that they would not petition the NJC (National Judicial Council).

Arabambi emphasised that the Labour Party would not honour a “beer hall response” containing falsehoods and factual distortions. He referred to the opposing faction as political buccaneers, scavengers, and jobbers to emphasise their lack of intelligence and ignorance.

Arabambi clarified that while the Edo State High Court’s ruling reinstated Abure’s party membership, it did not give him the authority to serve as a national officer.

During a meeting held on 3 May 2023 in Bauchi, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party suspended Abure.

Arabambi explained that the NEC’s suspension, based on their authority under Labour Party Constitution Article 13(2)(b)(IV), rendered the recent ruling of the Edo State High Court irrelevant.

He emphasised that Abure’s actions were further restricted by the restraining order issued by the FCT High Court, which was still in effect. According to him, Abure’s suspension by the NEC and the ongoing appeal filed against the decision of the FCT High Court rendered the judgement of the Edo State High Court null.

Arabambi emphasised that an appeal against the ruling of the FCT High Court was already underway, with Mr. Allex Ijetieme SAN leading the case.

He questioned the legitimacy of any lower court deciding a case pending before the Court of Appeals, claiming that it was impossible until the appeals court ruled otherwise.

As the matter was already under appeal at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, he dismissed the Edo State High Court’s ruling as futile and null and void.

Ethiopian Airlines is the primary investor in the Nigeria Air project. Domestic airlines under the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) filed a lawsuit against the Federal Government due to its 49% stake.

According to the ownership structure, two Nigerian companies hold a 46% stake and the Federal Government holds a 5% stake.

Airline Operators of Nigeria member airlines Azman Air, Air Peace, Max Air, Topbrass Aviation, and United Nigeria Airlines argued that the partnership would put them out of business by opening their market to Ethiopian airlines.

The airlines demanded an award of up to N2 billion in damages for “wrongful exclusion and unlawful bidding and selection processes” in relation to the Nigeria Air project.

Although Senator Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation, had announced that the Nigerian Air aircraft would arrive in the country on Friday, he remained silent on whether or not aircraft had been purchased for the project.

However, he told journalists the previous year that the Federal Executive Council had approved the leasing of three aircraft for the airline.

“We have stated in our outline business case, which was previously approved, that we will begin with three aircraft and then expand from there. We will have a mix of Airbus and Boeing aircraft because every major airline uses both,” he said.

“We will begin with domestic flights before expanding to international, regional, and transcontinental destinations. Our aviation industry is currently facing obstacles, but this is a global phenomenon that will not last forever because aviation is a highly resilient industry. Without a doubt, we will overcome these obstacles,” he added.

Capt. Ado Sanusi, chief executive officer of Aero Contractors, commented on the airline project earlier on Friday, stating that the arrival of the aircraft did not signify the start of commercial operations by the airline.

During the interview, Sanusi stated that it was one thing for the aircraft to arrive in the country and another for the airline to begin commercial operations.

According to him, it is practically impossible for the airline to begin commercial passenger service within two days, given the stringent process involved, which he believes the regulatory authority, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), will not waive while the entire world is watching.

He stated, “It is one thing to bring the aircraft into the country, but it is quite another to launch the airline and obtain all of the necessary approvals from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).”

“Demonstration flights are a very important and crucial component of obtaining an AOC. Obviously, the Director General of the NCAA has the authority to grant waivers, but demonstration flights are vital to the safety of operations, so I doubt he would grant this waiver.

Therefore, it is nearly impossible for the airline to depart within the next two days. It cannot be done. Because the demonstration flights and the five phases must be completed, the international community is observing us to determine whether we are actually adhering to the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) recommended practices and procedures for the international commercial carriage of passengers.

After announcing the launch of the airline at the UK’s Farnborough Air Show in 2018, Sirika granted an interview in which he stated that the airline had also considered 81 potential destinations, including China and India.

As of the time this report was compiled, Sirika had not responded to messages regarding the Ethiopian Airlines aircraft’s findings.

Twitter ban, Nomination of dead people: 13 Controversial moments in Buhari’s eight years reign

After eight years in power, President Muhammadu Buhari is set to step down and hand over the power to Bola Tinubu on May 29. Buhari’s supporters hail him as the “greatest President,” while his critics have a more unfavorable view of his tenure. In this report, we review some of the most controversial moments that occurred during President Buhari’s eight-year rule.

    1) Human Rights Violations: The government faced accusations of human rights abuses, including extrajudicial killings, torture, and the suppression of dissenting voices. These allegations sparked international condemnation and raised questions about the government’s commitment to upholding human rights.

    2) Twitter Ban: President Buhari’s decision to ban Twitter in Nigeria sparked controversy. The ban lasted for over six months, during which Nigerians had to rely on virtual private networks (VPNs) to access the platform. The ban was imposed after Twitter deleted a post by Buhari, which some people deemed offensive.

    3) EndSARS-Lekki Toll Gate: The events that took place on October 20 at the Lekki Toll Gate became a significant point of controversy. The incident involved protests against police brutality and allegations of a military-led massacre of young Nigerians. The aftermath of the EndSARS protests created a powerful movement that played a role in the recent election.

    4) Invasion of Judges’ Houses: In March 2016, Nigeria’s secret police conducted a controversial raid on the homes of senior judicial officers. The invasion targeted Justices of the Supreme Court and federal High Court Justices, leading to public backlash. While the government presented it as a fight against corruption, critics viewed it as an encroachment on the judiciary.

    5) Border Shutdown: President Buhari ordered the shutdown of Nigeria’s land borders to combat smuggling from neighboring countries. This move had immediate effects on food prices, particularly rice, and automobile imports. While the administration attributed the policy to a “rice revolution,” it drew criticism for its negative impact on trade.

    6) Invasion of Nnamdi Kanu’s House: The invasion of Nnamdi Kanu’s house in 2017 heightened tensions in the Southeast region. Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), went into hiding following the invasion, exacerbating the insecurity in the region. President Buhari’s refusal to release Kanu despite pleas has fueled further discontent.

    7) Nomination of Deceased Individuals: In 2017, President Buhari nominated several deceased persons for appointments, which garnered widespread criticism. This nomination of dead individuals, including former senators and public figures, raised questions about the thoroughness of the selection process.

    8) Shi’a El-Zakzaky: The arrest and prolonged detention of Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), led to protests and confrontations with law enforcement. A clash between El-Zakzaky’s followers and the former Chief of Army Staff’s convoy resulted in the reported deaths of over 1,000 Shi’a members. The situation further heightened tensions and garnered international attention.

    9) Invasion of National Assembly by DSS: The Department of State Services (DSS) under Lawal Daura’s leadership orchestrated the invasion of the National Assembly complex in Abuja without the knowledge of then-Acting President Yemi Osinbajo. The incident was seen as an attempt to undermine Osinbajo and was met with strong condemnation.

    10) Naira Scarcity: The redesigning of the Naira by the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, led to a scarcity of the currency for about two months. The policy’s failure caused hardship for Nigerians, resulting in deaths, bank burnings, and the potential for a violent uprising. The Supreme Court even had to intervene in response to the policy’s impact.

    11) Security Challenges: Nigeria witnessed a surge in security challenges during Buhari’s tenure, including increased Boko Haram attacks, kidnapping, and banditry. The government’s response to these crises, at times, drew criticism for its effectiveness and ability to ensure the safety of citizens.

    12) Anti-Corruption Campaign: While President Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign was applauded by many, it also faced its fair share of controversies. Critics accused the government of selectively targeting political opponents, lack of transparency, and insufficient progress in recovering looted funds.

    13) Fulani Herdsmen Crisis: The recurring clashes between Fulani herdsmen and local farmers in various parts of the country fueled significant controversy. The government’s handling of the crisis, including allegations of favoritism and inadequate response, drew criticism and raised concerns about security and ethnic tensions.
