Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Peter Obi represents Muqaddas’ former party.
Muqaddas stated that he had dismantled the Adamawa structure of his Labour Party and that his new party would benefit.
He stated that his supporters joined the LP with the belief that it will provide the progressive, honest, inclusive, and visionary alternative that Nigerian politics requires.
He remarked that he and his supporters were dissatisfied because the leadership of the LP was just as bad as the system they were attempting to alter.
He lamented that despite their efforts and good intentions, they realized that the structure established by the Peter Obi presidential campaign organization would lead them nowhere at the national and state levels.
“I have been completely sidelined, ignored, and disrespected by LP structure at both the national and state levels, and the same holds true for other LP candidates,” he said.

2 Days to Elections, Unknown Gunmen kill APGA Chairman in Ebonyi
Monday Idoko, the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ohofia Agba Ward, Ishielu Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi State, was murdered by ‘Unknown Gunmen’ two days before the 2023 general election in Nigeria.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning in the Ishielu region.
On Thursday afternoon, Chika Nwoba, the state publicity secretary for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), confirmed the murder.
“Unknown armed men killed the chairman of APGA in Ohoffia, Ishielu Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, in the early hours of today in Ishielu. May his soul rest in peace,’ the PDP leader posted on his widely-known Facebook page.
Additionally, a source stated, “The story is very traumatic. A family member informed me that unknown armed individuals broke into their home in the wee hours of the morning, dragged him outside, and shot him in the head.
“They attempted to rush him to the hospital, but he passed away in the village.” Since then, we have been in a state of mourning.
This online newspaper reports that politicians and prominent individuals have been the targets of gunmen in the South-east in recent years, particularly during the 2023 election campaign.
The ‘Unknown Gunmen’ criminal organization has claimed responsibility for the majority of the attacks, while the authorities say they are armed Biafra extremists.
The killings are occurring at a time when a Biafra activist based in the diaspora, Simon Ekpa, is encouraging revolt against the electoral process and calling for a boycott of elections in the southeast region of Nigeria.

INEC to postpone election by two weeks, give reasons
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has hinted that it will likely postpone Enugu East senatorial election by two weeks over the alleged murder of Labour Party (LP) senatorial candidate, Oyibo Chukwu.
Citing Section 34 of the Electoral Act, chairman of the commission, Mahmood Yakubu, however said that such postponement and relevant section of the Electoral Act can only be activated if the political party involved officially notifies the commission.
Oyibo, a lawyer, was allegedly attacked and murdered while returning from a campaign trip. He was said to have been burnt inside his vehicle, along some persons.
However, reacting to it, the electoral umpire boss said: “there are procedures to handling such issue. In such situation, the commission will have to countermind the senatorial district for two weeks. The section can 9nly be activated if the party involved officially notifies the commission.”
Section 34(b) stipulates that in the case of election into a legislative House, the election shall start afresh and the political party whose candidate died may, if it intends to continue to participate in the election, conduct a fresh primary within 14 days of the death of its candidate and submit the name of a new candidate to the Commission to replace the dead candidate:
“Provided that in the case of presidential or gubernatorial or Federal Capital Territory Area Council election, the running mate shall continue with the election and nominate a new running mate,” the section read.
Although the service in a statement by its spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, explained that the DSS’ preparedness for the elections did not disclose the party, checks by our correspondent revealed that the Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party had accused the service of intimidating its members and carrying out raids on its campaign offices in the state.
Afunanya said the operation was intelligence-driven, questioning how the weapons were found on the property.
The statement partly read, “To achieve the desired environment for the elections, the Service engaged in proactive and intelligence-led operations across the States. For instance, on February 22, 2023, the service conducted a legally backed search operation on a property along Airport Road, Nasarawa LGA, Kano State.
During the operation, it recovered dangerous weapons, including a gun, daggers, swords, and ack-knives from the said building.
Therefore, the accusation that the Service intimidated a particular political party in that State is untrue; otherwise, how come to those weapons were found there? Are those objects of violence campaign materials? Whether in Kano or elsewhere, the DSS has provided equal opportunities for all political parties to engage in their lawful activities. We can say this without any form of contradictions or equivocations.”
Afunanya also said that on February 22, 2023, the Service arrested a gunrunner, Aliyu Yahaya, an associate of Kachalla Damina, a suspected bandit who operates around Dansadau, Zamfara State.
According to him, items recovered from him include one GPMG Rifle; one chain of ammunition, One Hundred and Ninety (190) rounds of GMPG Ammunition, 28 rounds of AK47 Ammunition, and One grenade, adding that the suspect was going to deliver the armaments to Damina before he was arrested.
He also said two arm couriers namely Tukur Usman and Illiyasu Adamu were arrested at Chikun LGA, in Kaduna on 20th February 2023.
Afunanya added that 372 rounds of 7.62 X 39mm ammunition; Twenty-Six (26) rounds of live ammunition for GPMG rifles were recovered from them, stating that the duo was suspected arm suppliers to bandits in Zamfara State.
Northern youth declare support for Atiku, two days to presidential elections
The Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations has declared its support for the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of Saturday’s presidential election.
They claimed Atiku, a former vice president, was their preferred candidate because he had accumulated enough experience to govern Nigeria.
JACOM, a coalition of over 70 youth organizations from the 19 Northern States and Abuja, said Atiku was chosen because, of the 18 presidential candidates, he has the most experience in rebuilding the country.
JACOM’s Convener, Murtala Abubakar, told a press conference at Arewa House in Kaduna on Wednesday, flanked by Raphael Makama, Director of Communication and Public Affairs, and other executives, that none of the contestants had built political bridges across Nigeria like Atiku.
According to Abubakar, the youths of the region arrive at the decision after feeling the pulse of the Northern Elders Forum and the Arewa Consultative Forum as well as other Northern groups on the candidature of the former Vice President.
The JACOM boss, therefore appealed to all Nigerians to come out en masse and vote for Atiku, noting that the decision “we are going to make, will make or mar Nigeria if not well guided by our choice.”
The party urged INEC to restrict attempts to gain an advantage or win an election by other means, especially by silencing a candidate admired by his supporters.
Following the passing of its candidate, Oyibo Chukwu, the Labour Party has requested that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postpone the election in the Enugu East Senatorial District.
By unknown assailants on Wednesday, Mr. Oyibo Chukwu and his personal assistant were both killed.
The Labour Party responded to the shocking news with a statement from its National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, saying that the postponement is necessary so that the party can hold new primaries and take part in the election.
The LP candidate was expected to win the Enugu East senatorial seat in this election, according to Abure, who claimed that Enugu State is one of the states where the party has the most support.
He urged INEC to forbid those from gaining an advantage or winning an election by unfair means, especially by silencing a candidate who is well-liked by his constituents.
The LP National Chairman’s full statement reads;
LABOUR PARTY CALLS FOR POSTPONEMENT OF ELECTION IN ENUGU EAST SENATORIAL DISTRICT OVER MURDER OF CANDIDATE
Barely 72 hours to the February 25, 2023 general election, our candidate for the Enugu East senatorial district, Honourable Oyibo Chukwu was gruesomely murdered and his remains set ablaze along with his vehicle.
The gunmen according to reports also killed were five of his supporters who were with him inside his car at Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area on Wednesday evening.
It would be recalled that the Labour Party campaigns and political activities had been attacked on several occasions both in Enugu state and several other states
The national leadership of the Labour Party is disturbed by the level of attack on its candidates, officials and supporters across the nation. We condemn the act and we call on the security agents to be on top of the matter. It is becoming a tradition where people attack our candidates all over the country.
It would be recalled that our senatorial candidate in Ebonyi South, Hon Linus Okorie was kidnapped on his way to his house, in Ebonyi state on Sunday, October 16, 2022 allegedly by the personnel of the South East Vigilante outfit, Ebubeagu. He was tortured, incarcerated and denied his basic right for weeks.
I want to also recall what happened to our party in Anambra State when our governorship candidate, Hon. Obiora Agbasimelo was kidnapped at the heart of campaign and as I speak, nothing has been heard about him.
Our women leader in Kaduna state was also brutally murdered. Two more persons were also killed in that state.
Only recently our campaign rally in Lagos was attacked and several of our members were injured and their properties vandalized. We also gathered that one of the victims of that mindless attack was amputated a few days ago.
This killing in Enugu state is the climax of it all. This is certainly a threat to democracy and to the 2023 general election, where candidates are not secured and are killed.
The Labour Party is therefore calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to postpone the election in Enugu East senatorial district to enable us conduct a fresh primaries and participate in the election.
Enugu state is one of the states where our party enjoys maximum support and our candidate is on course to win the Enugu East senatorial seat in this election. We therefore believe that INEC should not allow people to benefit or win election through other means particularly, by silencing a candidate who is loved by his people.
We insists that this development if allowed will have major consequences in the political development in Nigeria. No electoral victory is worth the life of any person and our institutions must not allow this to become a norm.
We therefore call on our party members and supporters in Enugu state to remain calm even in the face of this outrageous provocation and also be law abiding, as the party will do everything within its means to ensure that this killing is not swept under the carpet.
Let me also condole with the immediate family of Honourable Oyibo Chukwu and the entire Labour party family over this painful loss and I pray that God will give us the fortitude to bear this loss.
Coalition of Buhari/APC Group Dump Tinubu, Endorses Atiku For President
The Coalition of Buhari/All Progressives Congress, APC, South-west zone support group in Osun state, has dumped APC party and it’s candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
A 300-level Mass Communication student of the Benue State University, Erekaa Naomi Dooshima, has been reportedly found dead a few days after she went missing.
The student, also known as Affection, was reported missing three days ago and all efforts made to locate her whereabouts proved abortive.
According to a post shared by Benue activist, Ukan Kurugh, a phone, ID card, and blood-stained clothes allegedly belonging to the student were found around Rahama clinic opposite Medical school in Makurdi on Tuesday, February 21.
In an update on Wednesday, February 22, Mr. Kurugh said her corpse has been found and is currently being exhumed by operatives of the Benue State Police Command.
Simon Ekpa has been arrested by the Finnish government.
The Finnish police have arrested Biafra Separatist Leader Simon Ekpa for threatening to boycott Nigerian elections.
Ekpa has threatened that anyone in Nigeria’s South-East who attempts to participate or vote in the 2023 General Elections, which are set to take place on Saturday, February 25th, will be dealt with harshly.
HS reported that police removed the separatist from his Lahti apartment.
When the HS team rang Ekpa’s separatist bell, the Finland police, KRP, answered.
The HS said the KRP prevented their team from entering Ekpa’s apartment and that the interview would be moved “to the future”.
On Thursday, an anonymous Finnish Embassy official in Abuja confirmed Ekpa’s arrest to Newsmen.
“It is our understanding that he is currently in police custody in Finland,” a non-press official told Newsmen.
“Ekpa is seen being escorted out of his home in Lahti by plainclothes Finnish police,” the official said.
The “Unknown Gunmen,” a dangerous armed militia responsible for the deaths of several people, including public officials in the South-East, have pointed the finger at the separatist leader as being the target of several killings.
Simon Ekpa, who calls himself Nnamdi Kanu’s disciple and is the IPOB’s (Indigenous People of Biafra) imprisoned leader, gained notoriety in July 2021 when he was named Radio Biafra’s chief broadcaster.
After Kanu was again detained by the federal government, the activist from Finland was chosen to take Kanu’s place. After a few weeks, IPOB declared Ekpa’s disengagement, citing his refusal to agree to the Radio Biafra rules of engagement.
Simon Ekpa Arrested in Finland.
Officers from the Finnish Central Criminal Police picked up Ekpa from his apartment in the Lahti region of Finland on Thursday morning.
Geoffrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs for Nigeria, warned Pylvanainen during the meeting that if nothing drastic is done, the Federal Government would not take lightly the threat that Ekpa’s actions posed to the upcoming election.
“Obviously, he is living in the comfort of his home there in Finland, and we know that we have been in touch with your good self, so we thought it was important for us to have this chat with you to let you know that.
“We’ve had some time to make sure we stop this situation, but it looks like things are getting out of hand. We are also stating that enough is enough. We should make it clear to you that Nigeria needs your full support in order to get something done right away because he is endangering the upcoming elections.
The sad part is that this man has a lot of supporters online. And the very next day, as soon as he issues these instructions, there are destructions. They start burning things down and killing people. And we think this is not right.
“It’s crucial to understand that someone’s actions are endangering these elections, and that as a result, something urgently needs to be done to address the situation.
The minister, who was represented by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zubairu Dada, had said to Pylvanainen, “This in essence is why we thought it was important for us to have this discussion with you, in order to let you know our concerns and the displeasure of the Government of Nigeria and the people of Nigeria on this very unhealthy development.”
Seven pastors have predicted who will win the presidential election in 2023.
Religious leaders play an important role in Nigerian elections. Politicians revere them not only for their “spiritual powers,” but also for the enormous power they wield over millions of followers.
In addition, while think-tank organisations, both local and international, issue election forecasts based on various parameters, religious clerics, typically pastors, issue “prophecies” on who will win.
The general election in 2023 will be no different. Many pastors across the country have predicted who will win before the election.
This report highlights some of the most significant “prophecies.”
Who is the winner of the 2023 presidential election?
1. Tinubu will win the presidency in 2023, Pastor Sunday Adelaja predicts.
A Nigerian pastor named Sunday Adelaja who lives in Ukraine recently said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be elected president in 2023.
The founder of the Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations in Kyiv, Ukraine, said the former Lagos Governor would win for ten reasons in a lengthy piece titled “Nigeria, Behold Your Next President” and posted on his verified Facebook page.
2. Pastor Alamu David makes a prediction about the 2023 presidential election.
Similarly, in June 2022, Pastor Alamu David of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Abule Egba, Lagos, predicted Tinubu would win the 2023 presidential election.
Pastor David said that a vision he had in 2008 showed him that Tinubu would become president of Nigeria.
3. Tinubu’s victory was predicted by Rev. Dr. David Oyediran.
In March, Rev. Dr. David Oyediran declared that Tinubu “will rule Nigeria constitutionally.”
As president, Tinubu, according to Reverend Oyediran, general superintendent of Glorious Vision World Outreach Ministries in Lagos, is one of the few people who can restore hope and transform the nation.
4. Prophet Emmanuel Chukwudi He said that God told him that Atiku would win in 2023.
Unlike Reverend Oyediran and others previously named, Prophet Emmanuel Chukwudi of King of Kings Deliverance Ministry in Gbonum Ulepa Ntezi, Ebonyi State, believes the 2023 presidency belongs to Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This was revealed by the prophet in a statement made available to newsmen in June.
5. Pastor Adewale Giwa predicts the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
In the same way, Pastor Adewale Giwa said that the PDP’s presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku, would win the general election in 2023.
Pastor Giwa, the senior pastor of the Awaiting the Second Coming of Jesus Christ Ministry in Akure, Ondo State, believes Tinubu is the only candidate who can derail Atiku’s bid for the presidency.
6. Primate Ayodele reveals what God told him about the 2023 presidency.
In his prediction for the 2023 presidential election, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, the man of God in charge of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, said that the contest would be a straight battle between Labour Party candidate Peter Obi and Atiku.
He did, however, predict that Atiku would win. Because of the Muslim-Muslim ticket, the cleric barred Tinubu, the APC candidate, from running.
7. Reverend Shalom Kelvin Akinbo and Peter Obi will win.
Reverend Shalom Kelvin Akinbo, the Head Pastor of Doers Nation International Church in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, said that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, would be shown to him in 2023 as President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.
On the other hand, the cleric said that strong prayers were needed to keep the land from falling into chaos.
Who will be elected president in 2023? Pastor Adeboye claims that God has yet to speak to him.
Meanwhile, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) previously revealed who he believes will win the 2023 presidential election.
The RCCG’s general overseer revealed that God has yet to speak to him about who will win the presidential election in 2023.
He said this on Friday, November 4, while ministering to the congregation at the latest edition of the “Holy Ghost Service” programme at the Redemption Camp.
Editor’s Note: Are these pastors serving the same God? If yes, why is God giving them the opposite winner of the 2023 Presidential Election?
Ooni Of Ife Leads Yoruba Obas To Endorse Tinubu as Preferred Presidential Candidate

-The first dollar was made in 1792. It was used in the colonies instead of the Spanish dollar, which was used before.
-The dollar is the currency that is traded the most around the world.
-The dollar is also the currency that is most often faked around the world.
The US Dollar: A Brief History
Did you know that the history of the US dollar is pretty interesting? It was made when the Coinage Act was passed by the US government in 1792. This law made the US dollar the official currency of the country.
Since then, there have been a few changes to the dollar. For example, in 1854, the US stopped using Spanish coins and started using American ones. And in 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt took the US off the gold standard. This meant that the dollar could no longer be traded for gold.
The US dollar is one of the most popular currencies in the world right now. Over 60% of all transactions between countries take place in US dollars. So the next time you spend your vacation dollars in a foreign country, you can be sure that you are using a currency that has been around for a while!
Who Maintains the Production of US Currency?
The United States Mint is responsible for producing US dollar paper currency. It is a government agency that falls under the Treasury Department. They are responsible for producing both paper currency and coins.
Interestingly, each bill and coin’s design is determined by the president. The Mint then creates a prototype and submits it for approval to the Treasury. It is then put into production. Therefore, each bill and coin in circulation has been authorised by the president, which is why they often bear his or her image.
What are the Facts Influencing the Dollar to Naira Black Market Exchange rate for today ?
Here are some of the reasons for the dollar-to-naira exchange rate’s decline.
Inflation Rates: It is common knowledge that inflation has a direct impact on black market exchange rates. The naira will benefit if the Nigerian economy can be stabilised and inflation is brought under control; however, if the naira continues to fall, it may indicate that food and other necessities are becoming more expensive on a daily basis.
Interest Rates: Interest rates are another tool to keep an eye on. If the interest rate at which banks lend money rises, the economy will contract, and the value of the naira will fall as a result.
Government debt has the potential to affect investor confidence and, as a result, the flow of funds into the economy. If inflows are high, the naira exchange rate will rise in its favour.
Speculators: Speculators have a significant impact on the Dollar to Naira Black Market Exchange rate for today . They hoard money in anticipation of a profit, causing the naira to fall even further.
Trade Conditions: Although Nigeria is currently running a trade deficit, favourable trade terms will lead to an increase in the value of the Nigerian currency to the dollar. China, India, and the majority of Asian countries supply everything.
External reserves drop by $1.25bn as Nigerians dump Naira for Dollar amid scarcity
Since the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced its plan to redesign Naira notes, Nigeria’s external reserves have dropped by –1.97% as Nigerians dump their currency for Dollars.
On October 26, 2023, the central bank informed Nigerians that the N200, N500, and N1,000 notes would be redesigned to collect the N2.7 trillion cash that the Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) cannot account for.
CBN reported that over N3.3 trillion cash was in circulation, but N2.7 trillion of it was outside bank vaults. To mop up the currencies, the financial regulator suggested redesigning the Naira notes.

Ejes Gist News learned from CBN figures that the external reserves dropped by $741.57 million from $37.52 billion to $36.77 billion from the time CBN announced the Naira note redesign to February 16, 2023.
Foreign reserves fell by 3.28 percent or $1.25 billion between October and January, from $38.25 billion in September 2022 to $36.99 billion on January 31, 2023.
Nigerians dumping Naira for Dollars?
The central bank says criminals hoard some of the cash in circulation.
Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor, said the Naira redesign policy was forcing hoarders to bring out their notes.
Cash in circulation dropped to N1.39 trillion in January 2023 from N3.3 trillion in October 2022.
However, as Naira hoarders release local currencies, they are hoarding USD to replace banknotes.
Due to the Naira redesign policy’s Naira note shortage, Fitch warned that Nigerians may demand foreign currencies.
“Associated cash shortages may hit consumer spending and boost demand for foreign currency, aggravating foreign-exchange shortages,” Fitch wrote in ‘Nigeria’s Economic Challenges Highlight Importance of Post-Election Policies’.
Based on rising official and black market exchange rates, Dollar demand pressure has increased.
Since the central bank announced the Naira redesign plan, the official market exchange rate between the Dollar and the Naira has appreciated by 4.48 percent, trading at N461.50 kobo/$1 on Monday, February 21, 2023, from N441.67/$1 on October 26, 2022.
The parallel market exchange rate rose to N775/$1 on Monday from N752/$1 due to demand for Dollars in the black market, which weakened the Naira by 3.05 percent.
Black Market Dollar To Naira Exchange Rate Today
The Naira redesign policy has hurt the local currency, contrary to Emefiele’s claims.
Many legal and illegal business owners have obtained and hidden Dollars on the black market and official market.
CBN stated that the hoarding of the Dollar was affecting external reserves because traders buy USD from the official market for international transactions but don’t repatriate it afterward.
DSS Raid On NNPP’s Kano Secretariat Sparks Controversy
The Kano state branch of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has accused the Department of Security Services (DSS) of intimidating its members and conducting raids on its state campaign offices.
However, in a swift response, the secret police stated that it has been impartial in carrying out its duties and has provided all political parties with equal opportunities, adding that it has only recovered dangerous weapons from the campaign offices of a few politicians.
This allegation was made by the NNPP, the state’s leading opposition party, just days after the party accused the state’s police leadership of collaborating with the state government to harass and arrest its members.
A few days later, the IGP reassigned the commissioner of police in the state to the state of Plateau and posted two new CPS and three Deputy CPs to oversee the state during the election; however, the police stated that the reassignment had nothing to do with the allegation because it also affected other commands.
Umar Haruna Doguwa, chairman of the NNPP in Kano, told journalists on Wednesday that the offices of the directors of Support Groups and the director of Youth Mobilization were raided by DSS agents.
“It has come to our attention with horror that DSS agents were brazenly bringing weapons from their vehicles into the offices of our directors. This occurred in the presence of our campaign staff, who also videotaped the event.
“We have photographic and videographic proof of this blatant setup”.
“We are writing to bring to the attention of the Director General of the DSS the need to call his Kano Command to order,” said Doguwa, insisting that the DSS must cease “intimidating, harassing, and framing our members.”
The party leader also accused the Kano DSS director of being in cahoots with the state government, claiming that the director should have retired last year but was kept in place due to state government interference to serve its own interests.
Peter Afunanya, the spokesman for the DSS, told newsmen that its personnel had only recovered firearms, swords, daggers, and jackknives, among others, from a few politicians.
In a WhatsApp conversation with one of our correspondents, Afunanya sent images of allegedly recovered dangerous weapons, including clubs, cutlasses, and firearms, and asked, “Are these campaign materials?”
He stated, “The property was subject to a search warrant. This is a false account of what occurred. In the state of Kano, the DSS did not intimidate any political parties.
“The Service is impartial and has provided equal opportunities for all parties to carry out their activities.
A firearm, swords, daggers, and jackknives, among others, were recovered as a result of a legal security operation and valid search conducted on a suspicious property. “The Service is committed to maintaining a violence-free environment prior to and following elections.”
Muhammad Garba, the state’s commissioner of information, could not be reached at the time this report was filed for a response to the allegation that the government conspired with the secret police to rig the election.

Rivers APC Rep Seeking Reelection Sent To Prison Two Days To Poll
A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, has remanded Hon. Ephraim Nwuzi, the representative for the Etche/Omuma federal constituency in the House of Representatives, to the Nigerian Correctional Centre in the state.
This occurred as a result of a remand proceeding brought against him by the Rivers State Police Command.
The police accused the federal lawmaker, who is also the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Etche-Omuma Federal Constituency in the 25 February 2023 election, of treasonable felony, conspiracy, inciting communal conflict, and violence.
On Wednesday, when the case was Heard in court, the accused’s attorney, Emenike Ebete, made an oral bail application.
The prosecution and the Investigation Police Officers in charge of the case opposed the bail application, requesting that Hon. Nwuzi be remanded to allow for a proper investigation and arraignment.
After hearing the arguments, Chief Magistrate O Amadi-Nna remanded Ephraim Nwuzi based on the allegations.
Counsel for the federal lawmaker told newsmen outside the courtroom that the charges filed against his client were insufficient to warrant remand.
Ebete stated, “We have also argued to the court that the offenses detailed in the particulars and affidavit attached to the alleged allegations do not warrant his remand.
“The court, in its wisdom, determined that the offenses were minor and remanded him to prison until March 3, 2023, pending the filing of a formal charge against him by the state.”
According to our correspondent, police officers allegedly broke into Nwuzi’s residence in Chokocho, Etche LGA, on Wednesday morning and arrested him there.
Recall that the spokesperson of the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated in a statement that the Supervising Assistant Inspector General of Police for the elections in Rivers State, Abutu Yaro, had invited Hon. Nwuzi over an inciting video in which he allegedly directed his supporters to attack certain individuals, including INEC officials, during the elections.
