The political class plays perhaps the most critical role in ensuring peaceful elections. We must all rise to the occasion. Nigerians are watching us. The world is watching us. We must never disappoint them.

Peter Obi Reacts To Soludo’s Allegation Of Valueless Investments

Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, has responded to a statement made by Prof. Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra state, that the investments Obi made while serving in that capacity were worthless.

Obi made it clear that he had set aside money for the Anambra State Government at the end of his term in order to give Willie Obiano a head start and to cover some federal projects that his administration was not authorized to handle.

In response to a question regarding his opinion on the investment of government outside the public sector with reference to Obi as a former governor, Soludo stated on Thursday During an interview with Channels TV’s Politics Today.

Obi responded to Soludo’s remarks on Friday by saying, “I saved N48,629,473,469 in local currency. Some of which we tied to specific projects like payment of two-year salary of civil servants we employed for him not to be encumbered, Agulu and Onitsha Hotel, Awka and Nnewi Malls, and some crucial roads like the completion of the dualization of the Dual carriage road over which we had gotten permission to do so and be paid We also gave him some so he could carry on the aggressive work we were performing.

Obi provided the following justification for the $156 million (or roughly N27 billion at the time and N75 billion today when the yields are added):

“After studying China’s extraordinary accomplishments as the MDGs were coming to an end, we discovered that the Chinese regional governments were successful in luring a number of investments due to their capacity to partner with investors or contribute to the establishment of productive facilities within their regions.

For instance, some of them successfully contributed 10–20% to equity, which they were able to do since they had strong saving habits.

According to our calculations, if the state could save a specific amount (US$18–20 million) as we did over a period of eight years, up until 2030, at an average interest rate of just over 6%, we would be able to save and earn about $1 billion.

“Considering that the typical Chinese Small and Medium Scale Enterprise (SME), for example, was established with approximately two million dollars, we would then use about 50% of this amount to attract investments.”

Obi added that his objective was to benefit 1,000 SMEs located throughout Anambra if he could invest $500,000, or 25%, in each business.

He claimed that since oil revenue was ending, this would kick-start “aggressive economic growth within the state.”

Usman Alkali-Baba, the Inspector General of Police, has disclosed that some of the kidnapped Chibok girls who have just Rescued and been reunited with their families have expressed a desire to go back to their kidnappers.

Some of the girls who were kidnapped, particularly those who were forced into marriage and bore children for their captors, according to IGP Baba, only came back to meet their family.

“The issue of the Chibok girls, as you know, they are coming out one by one and gradually,” he stated. They will occasionally openly admit that they have come to see their parents and that they wish to return.

Therefore, it is possible that they have been indoctrinated, integrated, or otherwise made to feel at home and have joined the people who kidnapped them.

“But as I am saying, it is a continuous effort, and even last month, you saw a Chibok girl coming out with two or three children and saying she only came to greet her parents and she wants to go back, as I am sure you have noticed. As a result, there is yet hope.

2023: Primate Ayodele Issues Strong Warning To Nigerians Ahead of presidential Polls

The Leader Of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned Nigerians against voting the wrong candidate in the 2023 presidential election.

Primate Ayodele opined that the fate and future of Nigeria will depend on the outcome the election, noting that the country may crash if electorates pick the wrong president in 2023.

Speaking during a chat with Punchnewsng.com , Ayodele said that Nigeria may disintegrate if Nigerians pick the wrong leaders in 2023.

Spiritual leaders, either Christians or Muslims, are to tell the people about the mind of God and to pray for the nation. We are also to correct all the candidates as most of them will goof, and if they do so, nobody is ready to talk.

No pastor should be partisan; they should be free to say what the Lord told them. The role of a pastor is spiritual; I’m not talking about career pastors. Those in the spirit should tell the people the choice of God, and that is what we stand for.

FG files 7-count amended charge against Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB leader

Nnamdi Kanu, the arrested leader of IPOB, has been charged by the federal government with seven new counts of terrorism.

This online newspaper gathered that all of the accusations against the IPOB leader that had previously been upheld by the trial court were included in the revised charge with the file number FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015 that was filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The Federal Government (FG) specifically claimed that Kanu, who is currently detained by the Department of State Service (DSS), had issued a lethal threat to anyone who disobeyed his sit-at-home order in the South Eastern region of the country in a broadcast that was heard and heard throughout Nigeria as a member of an illegal group.

It informed the court that because of the threat, banks, schools, markets, shopping malls, and fuel stations located in the Eastern States of Nigeria have kept their doors locked, preventing both pedestrian and vehicular traffic from moving.

The FG further asserted that between 2018 and 2021, the IPOB leader conducted broadcasts that were heard and received in Nigeria and incited people to kill and hunt down members of the Nigerian security forces and their families, violating Section 1(2)(h) of the 2013 Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act.

Further, it claimed that Kanu gave orders to IPOB members “to manufacture bombs,” and that between March and April 2015, the defendant “imported into Nigeria and kept a Radio Transmitter known as Tram 50L concealed in a container of used household items which you declared as used household items in Ubulisiuzor in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, and you thereby committed an offence contrived.”

Kanu previously entered a not-guilty plea to the accusation.

Trial Judge Binta Nyako has already scheduled Kanu’s legal team, led by Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, to address the court on Monday, as well as the prosecution’s counsel.

The parties will debate whether FG might proceed with re-arresting the IPOB leader on the new charge despite the Court of Appeal’s October 13 decision exonerating him of all charges and the ongoing Supreme Court appeals on the matter.

Abuja: IGP Gives Fresh Update On Possible Terror Attacks

Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has said that the terror alerts sent out by the US and the UK were exaggerated.

This was said on Thursday during a press conference held at Aso Rock in Abuja by the Presidential Media Team and attended by the top police officer in the nation.

Baba claimed that the Nigerian government never discounted the warnings of potential attacks in Abuja and that instead, the notifications simply increased apprehension among Nigerians.

However, the IGP revealed that security agencies had detained several individuals, adding that those detained will shortly face legal charges.

“Government has never denied it was an alarm, but we only said it was blown or made in such a way that our people were uneasy about the circumstance and the manner in which it was carried out,” he claimed.

“The embassies have their own obligations to their residents, and they are able to offer guidance. The government has not discounted what is occurred, however, as they have also let us know about any risks they believe may exist.

“These threats or actions occasionally occur, but nobody has written them off as frivolous alarm, and many attempts have been made, as you mentioned, to defuse tension.

Actually, arrests have been made; individuals who, in our opinion, are preparing to commit a crime in whatever way were taken into custody. Any service that has them will bring charges against those who have been arrested in court.

Don’t Take Atiku, Peter Obi For Granted – Ribadu Warns APC, Tinubu

Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’s presidential candidate, has been cautioned about the might of the rival parties.

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNNP), are not to be taken for granted, according to former EFCC chairman Nuhu Ribadu.

On Thursday, Ribadu gave a speech at the opening of the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s Directorate of Stakeholder Relations.

He stated, “We should not underestimate our opponents; instead, we should work tirelessly to increase our margin of victory so that it is substantial and sweet.”

“Fortunately, we have a tough job ahead of us. We have the product that is currently most marketable. There is not a single candidate who is superior to ours.

“Asiwaju Tinubu has a track record of success as a thoroughbred administrator, maverick politician, and excellent human being.

He also has a vast network of friends and associates all over Nigeria, which makes our job of outreach much easier. He will not learn on the job.

He said that the directorate’s launch marked a turning point in the APC and its PCC’s battle to ensure Tinubu wins the upcoming presidential election.

According to Ribadu, the formal commitment to launch campaigns completely is signalled by the installation of the leadership and members of the directorate.

However, he added, “This is not the beginning of the work; some of us have been burning midnight candles for a very long time, even before the Directorate’s formal Constitution,” trying to create ties amongst important players.

Chief Bisi Akande, the first National Chairman of the APC, who also established the directorate, stated his pleasure with how the APC-led government has performed since May 29, 2015.

See Why Soludo said Peter Obi’s alleged investment in Anambra govt is worth nothing

Soludo – Peter Obi’s alleged investment in Anambra govt is worth nothing

The supposed investment of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, in the Anambra state government, according to Governor of Anambra State Professor Chukwuma Soludo, is worth next to nothing.

In an appearance with Politics Today on Channels TV on Thursday, Soludo made this claim.

Soludo responded simply, “I do not know about the investment,” when asked for his opinion on government investments outside the public sector with reference to Obi as the former governor of Anambra.

“The topic of our interview is the 2023 budget. I am not referring to any of my predecessors’ investments.

By the way, I have no knowledge of the one you mentioned. I believe I once read about someone speculating on a particular investment. The value of such investments is worth practically nothing after what I have seen today. So let us ignore that,” he continued.

Over 5,000 people in the state will receive their employment letters soon, according to Soludo.

To put an end to a period in which schools lacked teachers, he declared, “We are handing out employment letters to more than 5, 000 teachers.

If you look at the five fingers strategy of our programmes, Soludo continued, “We are fortunate to have 240 plus doctors and consultants to man our general hospitals. We designed our budget to keep our eyes on the ball.

Remember that just 6,000 of the 31,000 applicants who took part in the online recruitment test for teachers in the state of Anambra got through.

Less than two months after taking office, Soludo issued an order to hire teachers for both elementary and secondary schools to improve the state’s teacher-to-student ratio.

Following the most recent teachers’ Computer Based Test (CBT), 6,250 applicants were selected for oral interviews for teaching posts across the state, according to the state’s information commissioner, Mr. Paul Nwosu.

He added that the oral interviews had been set to begin on July 27, 2022, and would last for two weeks. He claimed that 3,250 would be deployed to primary schools and 3,000 to secondary schools.

Interviews will take place at Igwebuike Grammar School, St. John of God Secondary School, and the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) in Awka, according to Nwosu.

In the meanwhile, in response to the uproar surrounding the initial online CBT, Soludo ordered its cancellation and recommended that it be repeated, with the state government covering the applicants’ costs.

Cross River APC Crisis Gets Messier As Owan Enoh Heads To Appeal Court, Vows To Unseat Prince Otu

Owan Enoh vows to unseat Prince Otu as he heads to the appeals court, making the Cross River APC crisis even worse

The Prince Bassey Otu faction of the All Progressives Congress appears to be in panic over recent legal steps taken against one of the party’s candidates for governor at the most recent primary elections held this year, according to information that has reached newsrooms.

Sen. John Owan-Enoh is believed to have quietly challenged the high court’s decision after failing to obtain a favorable ruling from the Calabar lower court last month. This data was taken from Owan Enoh’s official Facebook page.

    The message reads in part:

“Accept my apology for keeping you largely in the dark and saying nothing since after the unfortunate judgment of the 24th of October.

I know how badly disappointed you all felt. I felt no less. I took my time before getting to you because I needed to be sure of the appropriate response to the judgment.

I can now confirm that an Appeal against the judgment has been formally entered by our legal team to the Calabar Division of the Court of Appeal. Meeting the timelines has not come easy but we’ve. Have no doubt about the strength of our case as well as our legal team.

But no matter how strong these both are, never forget the strength of our ‘By God’s Grace ‘ slogan. We ought to always pray, therefore. I enjoin you all to remain steadfast. God bless you all again and again.”

Senator Owan -Enoh who scored 84 votes, as against Prince Otu who scored 811 votes, in the just concluded May 26th APC primaries in the States, on June 8, 2022, had filed an originating summons with the APC, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and Senator Otu as the first, second, and third defendants respectively where he argued among other other things that Senator Otu was not properly cleared to participate in the primaries.

But on October 24th, the Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross State, in Suit No: FHC/CS/106/2022, presided over by Justice Ijeoma declared Senator Bassey Edet Otu as the duly elected All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the State for the 2023 elections.

Ijeoma Ojukwu, held that the plaintiff, Senator John Owan Enoh, had failed to prove his case.

In a seven-paragraph affidavit submitted by the plaintiff, Justice Ojukwu stated that the allegation lacked evidence, hence forgery could not be established.

But in a statement posted on his verified Facebook page Owan Enoh said he has appealed the judgement.

The statement reads in part. ” I can now confirm that an Appeal against the judgment has been formally entered by our legal team to the Calabar Division of the Court of Appeal.

Born on 4th June, 1996, Enoh had represented Etung state constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, thereafter he represented Obubra/ ring Federal Constituency in the green chambers of the national assembly before he later became a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015, where he represented the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State in the 8th Assembly of the Senate.

He was a member of Grassroots Democratic Movement, later All People’s Party, then People’s Democratic Party (PDP) up until May 2017 when he defected to the ruling All progressive Congress (APC) and contested for governorship losing to incumbent governor Ben Ayade.
