ASUU to FG: “Ngige – enemy of education”, Sack Ngige Now or…

Sack Ngige now, ASUU tells Buhari

The Minister for Labour and Productivity has been called for immediate dismissal by the Academic Staff Union of Universities who claims he has made the standoff between the government and ASUU worse.

Professor Chike Ugwuene, Chairman of ASUU, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, MOUAU, accused Ngige of “Divide and Rule” and “pro-rata payment of salaries” during a rally by ASUU members at the university.

He lamented the Minister’s inability to assist in resolving the ongoing dispute between the union and the Federal Government.

According to Professor Ugwuene, the Federal Government does not care about lecturers, which is why it has not complied with the demands of ASUU.

He regretted that, despite the lecturers’ decision to end the strike out of respect for the court and return to the classroom in the belief that the government would uphold its end of the bargain, ASUU only received half of what it had offered in return.

The ASUU leader claimed that the government had driven the organization’s members up against a brick wall and that they may have no choice but to “break the wall.”

He argued that the Government’s refusal to pay for the months of the strike was hollow because the lecturers were clearing the academic works that had been suspended due to the strike.

“The government rewarded us for returning by paying us pro-rata as if we were casual workers. We were reduced by the government.

“In MOUAU, we began with 2021/2022 exams, but the government adopted the policy of “no work, no pay.” We have demonstrated enough patriotism to prevent the start of “no pay, no work.”

Speaking at the rally, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, National Chairman of ASUU, urged the government to stop playing games with academics and the education industry.

To prevent the education sector’s complete collapse, he pleaded with the government to pay attention to ASUU’s demands.

Also Read: ASUU News: Get ready for the “mother of all strikes” ASUU Threatens to Invoke No Pay, No work

But according to Osodoke, ASUU was still victorious because “the federal government has budgeted N470 billion for Nigerian universities.”

He urged the government to adhere to all of its agreements with ASUU and charged that it was holding up education.

Comrade Uzo Onyebinama, the Owerri Zone’s zonal coordinator, had earlier stated that government, not ASUU, should be held accountable for anything that happened to the education sector.

“We borrow money and rely on borrowing to make ends meet. Although we are not workers, the struggle goes on, he said.

Professors Irene Ejeh and C. O. Offor urged the federal government to do everything in its power to enhance the circumstances of the nation’s universities in their respective lectures.

The lecturers marched around campus singing songs of solidarity while holding placards with various inscriptions.

We are rejecting it, “Nigerians beware of Ngige – enemy of education,” “Education is the bedrock of developing nation,” “On NIMI Briggs agreement we stand,” and other phrases were written on the signs.

Magaji Garba, Former Vice Chancellor bags 35-year jail term over N260m fraud

Professor Magaji Garba, the former vice chancellor of the Federal University of Gusau, was found guilty of five counts relating to obtaining money through false pretence and forgery and was given a 35-year prison sentence by the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Garki, Abuja, presided over by Justice Maryam Hassan Aliyu.

The conviction was obtained on Thursday by the EFCC, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

On October 12, 2021, the EFCC charged Garba with extortion for allegedly demanding money from a contractor under the guise of awarding him a N3 billion contract for the University’s perimeter wall fencing.

The Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act of 2006’s section 1 (1) (a) and section 1 (3) both prohibit the offence.

The second count of the charge reads: “That on or about May 15, 2019, in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, you, Professor Magaji Garba, while serving as the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Gusau, with intent to defraud obtained the sum of N100,000,000 from Alhaji Shehu Umar Sambo, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Ministaco Nigeria Limited, a contractor carrying out the construction of the Grand Convocation Square of the Federal University, Gusau under the false pretence of awarding a project for the perimeter wall fencing of the University valued at the total sum of N3 billion, which representation/pretense you knew to be false.”

He had entered a “not guilty” plea to the charges, which had prepared the way for a full trial.

The EFCC ended its investigation on December 14, 2021, after calling numerous witnesses and submitting a large number of documents that were accepted as evidence.

The trial judge stated today that the prosecution’s case was proven beyond a reasonable doubt, and the court was satisfied with that finding.

On all five counts, he found the defendant guilty and handed down sentences of seven years in prison on counts 1-3 without the possibility of a fine and seven years on counts 4 and 5 with the possibility of a N10 million fine on each count.

The panel had last week Friday ruled that INEC chairman should bring Adeleke’s filings for 2018 poll on its next sitting.

The number was provided by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Bimpe Ogunlumade, while briefing officials of the new administration on the financial status of the state, according to a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and obtained in Osogbo on Thursday.

    (II) Pension Arrears: N45,375,237,693.40
(III) Group Life Assurance Scheme: N554,644,028.97. Total: N75,805,072,851.01,” the statement read in part.

It added that the disclosure refuted the former governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s claim that he had left N14 billion in cash for the new administration.

Tribunal rejects Governor Ademola Adeleke’s blurry certificates

The Osun State Election Petition Tribunal, which was hearing the petition of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola challenging the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke, rejected Adeleke’s blurry school certificates when they were presented by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Oyetola’s petition challenged Adeleke’s legitimacy as the winner of the election.

After the Osun branch of INEC refused to present the certificate, the chairman of the panel, Justice Tertse Kume, compelled the INEC headquarters to present Adeleke’s certificates during the most recent sitting.

On Thursday, when the sitting was resumed, counsel for INEC, Professor Paul Ananaba, informed the Tribunal that the commission’s chair had instructed the deputy director, Mrs. Joan Arabs, to bring the Certified True Copies of the documents. Mrs. Joan Arabs was accompanied by the documents.

The 8-page documents were handed over to the sitting as Ananaba pleaded with the court to let the bearer of the document leave the courtroom immediately so that she can catch her flight to Abuja. The bearer of the document has a flight to catch to Abuja.

However, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, the lead counsel for Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC), told the court that N305,000 was paid for the documents.

It has come to his attention that two of the pages of the documents that INEC has presented to the court are illegible and blurred.

He stated that the information on the WAEC General Certificate of Education (GCE) was illegible, except for the signer’s name, and that the testimonial obtained from Ede Muslim Grammar School was unclear.

Ananaba stated that he is unable to answer any questions regarding the legibility of the documents that were brought into the sitting by the commission.

According to Fagbemi, the scores of the candidate that were printed on the certificate were not legible, and he stated, “We feel worried and frustrated that INEC did not bring clean copies of the documents.” The scores were not included on the Certificate that was brought, and we will not be managing the documents that were brought by INEC even though they are illegible.

“Also, the testimonial did not include the address of the educational institution that was attended. Therefore, the certificates that can be read must be produced.

After the two sides presented their arguments, Justice Kume postponed the case until Saturday, December 3, 2022, so that the INEC could present the court with more concise documents.

  • Solomon Dalung, Former Minister Vows to Fight Aisha Buhari Legally over her Arrest and Torture of Mohammed

Solomon Dalung, Former Minister Vows to Fight Aisha Buhari Legally over her Arrest and Torture of Mohammed

You’re Merely President’s Wife, You Have No Power To Order Arrest Of Any Nigerian – Ex-Minister, Solomon Dalung Lambasts Aisha Buhari

Former Youth and Sports Minister Solomon Dalung has criticised Aisha Buhari, the first lady.

He criticised Aisha Buhari for arresting and torturing Aminu Mohammed, a final-year student at the Federal University of Dutse.

Muhammad, a student at Federal University in Dutse, was allegedly attacked, detained, and placed on remand after criticising Aisha Buhari, the first lady of Nigeria.

This online newspaper had earlier reported that Muhammed had been secretly arraigned by the police before a Federal Capital Territory High Court and had been remanded in custody.

After tweeting that Aisha was getting fat off the money of the poor, Muhammad was taken into custody.

In June 2022, a final-year student in the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology tweeted that Mrs. Buhari had gained weight unexpectedly after participating in the theft of the country’s meagre resources while the people suffered under her husband’s rule.

The first lady is infamous for making unnecessary trips to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Posted in Hausa, the tweet reads, “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi.”

The tweet’s loose translation is “Mama has eaten poor people’s money and is now full,” and it was posted alongside a photo of Mrs. Buhari.

However, Mr. Dalung noted in a Facebook Live video on Tuesday that Nigerians did not elect President Muhammadu Buhari to office for them to be oppressed. He condemned the first lady’s action.

Also Read: Former Nigerian Minister of Information Arrested

He added that the president’s wife is not more important than other Nigerians and that Aisha’s actions posed a serious threat to democracy.

Let me categorically condemn the tyranny, the abuse of power, and the dictatorship emanating from the Aso Rock, which serves as Nigeria’s seat of power, Dalung said.

Every right-thinking person in the world should strongly condemn the disheartening reports of Hajiya Aisha Buhari, the president’s wife, using security to kidnap innocent Nigerians, beat them mercilessly, and then hand them over to security to be detained.

“It is unfortunate that this is taking place while President Muhammadu Buhari is in office.

Democracy is gravely threatened by it. Except for the fact that she is the president’s wife, every other Nigerian is the same as her.

“That she went out of her way to kidnap Aminu Mohammed, a 400-level student from [Federal University Dutse] Jigawa, and also abducted someone with whom she had previously worked, Zainab Kazeem, and brought them to the Villa, instructed her security to beat them ruthlessly, and then handed them over to be detained by the security forces of Nigeria.

Solomon Dalung Lambast Aisha Buhari over the Arrest of Aminu Mohammed Vows to Fight Her Legally

This is extremely depressing and shameful. Any arrest of a Nigerian cannot be ordered by Aisha Buhari.

She has no advantage to circumvent the law simply because she is married to the president of Nigeria.

Mr. Dalung requested that the Inspector General of Police launch an investigation and summon the woman to testify.

“If the two defendants broke the law, her only recourse is to call the police in for questioning.

However, it is against the law to kidnap them, take them to the presidential villa, and arrange for security personnel to beat them up.

The Inspector General of Police must invite Aisha Buhari for an investigation and questioning because she lacks immunity.

“For those Nigerian citizens whose rights have been violated, let it be known that every effort will be made to secure their release, and we will fight against this injustice until they receive the just compensation required by law.

See Also: BREAKING: Court Sentenced Akwa Ibom Governorship Candidate To 42-Years Imprisonment

“Aisha is a recipient of Nigerians’ goodwill. Common people raised money for her husband’s campaign by selling their possessions, purchasing cards, scratching them, and sending money. They wanted to be her slaves, so they refrained from doing that.

“Nigerians did not suffer to elect Buhari just for Aisha to establish herself as a terror in the state house and start abducting and beating defenceless citizens,” Dalung Added.

You have taken on more than you can handle. And I want to reassure you that the national and international human rights communities will mobilise all available resources to see that Aminu Mohammed and Zainab Kazeem receive justice.

“Within the next 24 hours, the security organisations holding these two people must free them.”

If you fail to do this, we will, of course, use all legal means at our disposal to enforce and expose all forces responsible,” he warned.

“Aisha, as the president’s wife, is not concerned about the abductions of secondary school girls in FGGC Yauri who are now married to bandits,” the former minister continued.

She does not give a damn about the Christian women who were abducted in Southern Kaduna and are still there, more than six months later.

The kidnapping of students at an Islamic school in Niger does not worry her. She has no qualms about torching a bus headed to Sokoto, where bandits burned people to death. She is only interested in her own self-serving interests,” he continued.

He challenged Okupe to provide evidence of any payment of membership dues into any bank account of the LP before December 1, 2022.

To implement the SEC’s decision, he requested that the national chairman, Barr. Julius Abure, and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, comply with the party’s constitution by immediately relieving Okupe of his position as D-G of PCC and appointing a new DG from the North to reflect federal characters and political balance.

Article 9(3)xi of the party’s constitution stipulates that “only fully registered and financially up-to-date members of the Party shall have the right to compete for office in the Ward Executive, Local Government Area Executive, State Executive Councils, and the National Working Committee of the Party, or to be a delegate to the Congresses and the National Convention.”

He stated, “Article 9(3)iii of our Party’s Constitution states, ‘Only members who pay their monthly membership dues at the prescribed rates shall be considered to be genuine Party members. Dues arrears of up to six months will result in membership termination.’

“Despite repeated demands from multiple meetings I had with Dr. Doyin Okupe regarding his mandatory constitutional requirements to fulfill membership status, he has dismally failed in this regard, along with others, to flagrantly disobey the Labour party constitution.

“… Following article 19(3) of the Labour Party’s constitution, we hereby declare that Dr. Doyin Okupe has forfeited his membership in the Party and is no longer fit and competent to continue to serve as the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

“We hereby notify our National Chairman, Bar Julius Abure, and Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, that it is expedient to immediately appoint another DG for the PCC from the North to reflect Federal Characters and political balance,” the letter reads.

Ashade named Abayomi Collins, Hon. Abel Olaleye, Jagun Lookman, Olori Oluwabukola Soyoye, Mr. Gbadebo Fesomade, (former State Treasurer), and Mr. Abdulmalik Olaleye as those stripped of their membership (former State Youth Leader).

Others include Mr. Jide Amusan (former State Publicity Secretary), Mr. Adeshina Wasiu Shojobi (former Assistant State Youth Leader), Miss Deborah Adewale (former Senatorial Women Leader for Ogun East), and Mr. Olatunde Abolade (former Asst State Secretary).

  • How Ex-Minister, Diezani Gave Politicians $115Million To Rig 2015 Election Under President Jonathan – EFCC

How Ex-Minister, Diezani Gave Politicians $115Million To Rig 2015 Election Under President Jonathan – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria’s top anti-graft organisation, has levelled some new accusations against Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former minister of petroleum resources.

The former minister is charged by the EFCC with paying politicians $115 million to rig the 2015 presidential election.

At an INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) induction retreat for new resident electoral commissioners on Wednesday in Lagos, the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, announced this.

Bawa, who was represented by Adukwu Michael, the chief superintendent of the anti-graft agency, claimed that the commission’s investigation had shown how the former minister of petroleum resources had misappropriated money.

While serving as a minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan, Diezani is accused of stealing $2.5 billion from the Nigerian government.

The EFCC has since started the process to indict the former minister, who has refuted the accusations.

In the process, the Nigerian government obtained a court ruling ordering the forfeiture of Diezani’s properties, which included 18 flats and six penthouses in Banana Island Foreshore Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The head of the EFCC claimed on Wednesday that the agency had recovered some of the money that the former minister is accused of stealing.

He claims that the agency is concentrating on how to deter vote buying.

“The commission’s focus in election management is discouraging the use of money to influence the outcome of elections,” Bawa is quoted as saying.

“Political spending on elections frequently results in vote buying and voter enticement.

Because they do not have adequate and practical policies to persuade the electorate to vote them into power, parties frequently bribe voters with cash.

“Whenever someone is persuaded to sell their vote, they immediately forfeit their moral right to criticise the corrupt tendencies of the elected.

The commission was able to unearth a grand scheme to sway the 2015 general election through significant cash payments to politicians thanks to the 2015 covert investigation.

“Diezani Alison-Madukwe, a former minister of petroleum resources, gave politicians 115 million dollars to tamper with the election.

“While many of the offenders are being prosecuted with few convictions recorded, some of the money was recovered. Inter-agency cooperation and information sharing are at the core of the EFCC strategy to reduce voter inducement.

“The EFCC is supporting other stakeholders’ efforts to inform the electorate about the significance of not trading votes.

“We are collaborating with INEC to ascertain and implement Electoral Act provisions relating to the cap on campaign spending by various categories of office seekers. This exercise is intelligence-based.

The EFCC discovered the $115 million spent by Diezani on stolen crude oil in May 2016.

“Our agents have found that the $115 million came from crude oil that was stolen.

They obtained it from Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, a senior EFCC official had claimed.

The source had further stated that “we will uncover how they came about the stolen crude oil and those used to syphon the oil in order to deny the nation of revenue” due to the “sensitivity of the matter.”

There are numerous conditions that can lead to a woman’s inability to conceive and give birth. Menstruation is also involved in these irregularities. Unfortunately, orthodox medicine does not adequately treat a large number of these conditions. These are the conditions, as well as the herbs that should be used to treat them:

    STRONG MENSTRUAL FLOW.

Heavy menstrual flow may also result in a large blood cluster during menstruation. It is assumed that an abundance of coagulated blood during the monthly cycle is an indication of a female conception problem. While coagulated blood is coming out, it should not become regular and, if it does, it should be treated appropriately. Ladies experiencing such encounters can use Sorhum bicolor, also known as karandafi, or Citrus arantifolia, also known as lime.

Herbs such as Cassia alata, also known as Asunwon Oyinbo, and Zee mays, also known as Agbado, are suitable for the situation. Other local herbs used to treat menstrual problems include African Cucumber or Momordica charantia, also known as Bitter Melon.

    PCOS (POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME).

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a medical condition with numerous symptoms and multiple causes. Nonetheless, it is still a hormonal disorder. Calliandra portoricensis, also known as Tude, and Aristolochia repens, also known as Akoigun in Yoruba, are two Yoruba herbs suggested to treat this condition.

    MENSTRUATION IS IRREGULAR.

This is when menstruation occurs more frequently than once every month. Some traditional Yoruba Medicine practitioners treat this condition with herbs such as Citrulus lonatis known as Bara, Caltiandra portoricensis known as Egbo Tude, Labelabe, and others.

MENSTRUAL FLOW THAT IS TOO WATERY OR TOO LIGHT.

Zingiber, also known as Atale officanale, is one of the Yoruba herbs used to treat this condition. This condition is also treated with epin (ficus exasparata).

    FIBROIDS.

Fibroid is a very treatable female infertility condition. To treat it, use Cassia alata, also known as Asunwon Oyinbo, which should be avoided at all costs.
