  • Denola grey, Osas Ighodaro clinch ‘Best Dressed’ award in AMVCA 8

    Osas Ighodaro, a Nollywood actress, has been named Best Dressed Female in the ongoing 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

    Denola Grey, a fellow Nollywood star and model, won the Best Dressed award in the male category.

    Denola Grey dazzled the audience with his three-piece beaded suit, while Ighodaro walked the red carpet in a silver and gold lace gown.

    Celebrities showcase their fashion style each year as fans vote for their favourites to win the much-anticipated ‘Best Dressed’ award, which is one of the most prestigious in Africa’s entertainment industry.

    Other celebrities who participated in the category included Bimbo Ademoye, Adunni Ade, Belinda Effah, and others.

  • AMVCA 2022 Winners : Full List of All the AMVCA 8 winners Emerges

    Full List of AMVCA 2022 Winners has emerged .

    On Saturday, May 14, 2022, the eighth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) came to a rousing conclusion, with winners announced on the biggest and most glamorous night to celebrate African film and television talent.

    Rattlesnake – The Ahanna Story and Amina took home four AMVCA awards each, with Ramsey Nouah winning Best Director for Rattlesnake – The Ahanna Story and Amina winning Best Overall Movie.

    Stan Nze won Best Actor in Drama in the public voting categories, while Osas Ighodaro won Best Actress in Drama. Samuel Perry, also known as ‘Broda Shaggi,’ and Omowunmi Dada, both first-time AMVCA nominees, won Best Actor in a Comedy and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, respectively.

    Rogers Ofime, the producer, won multiple awards in the categories of Best Television Series, Best Indigenous Language Movie (Hausa), and Best Africa Magic Original Comedy Series for The Johnsons.

    Collision Course won Best Movie West Africa, while The Girl in the Yellow Jumper and Hairareb won Best Movie East Africa and Best Movie Southern Africa, respectively, at the regional awards.

    In the special recognition categories, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett (OON), a veteran Nigerian actress, journalist, and television presenter, received the AMVCA industry Merit award for this edition, while Teni Aladese received the Trailblazer award, which recognises an outstanding achievement by a young and upcoming act.

    Africa Magic, in collaboration with MultiChoice, presents the eighth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, which is proudly sponsored by Amstel Malta.

    The 8th edition of the prestigious African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island, with all of the usual glitz and glam.

    AMVCA is a gathering of African film and television industry professionals and fans.

    Chrisland School Scandal: Police arraign four Chrisland teachers

    Police have arraigned four Chrisland teachers over alleged gang-Carnal knowledge

    Four Chrisland Schools teachers have been charged in the Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos for accompanying some of their students to the World School Games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

    They are Oladotun Sotunde, Elesho Tajudeen, Rhoda Olanipekun, and Ajiboye Hammed.

    The police have preferred charges of alleged conspiracy and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace against them.

    After a video surfaced showing some of the students having s3x in their hotel room in Dubai, Lagos State ordered the closure of all of the school’s branches.

    Following a review of the administrative investigation into the incident, the schools were reopened a week later.

    Five ways to identify any looming building Collapse

    Buildings do not simply collapse. There are continually displaying  signals. However, many Nigerians either do not identify the indications or do not pay attention to them.

    Some buildings can be compared to “a ticking time bomb”. With the recent spate growing spate in building collapse, it is important for us to identify an impending building collapse and act accordingly.

    Here are some ways to identify impending building collapse

    Cracks in the wall

    Major cracks in your walls are a warning sign that something bad is about to happen.
    Ground movement (below foundations) produced by clay shrinkage, landslip, vibration, subsidence, settlement, heave, sway, and other factors are the most prevalent causes of cracking. Failure of the foundation due to soft clay brick deterioration, concrete erosion due to chemical pollutants, and so on.

    Dilapidation
    The term “dilapidation” refers to a structure’s physical life coming to an end, i.e., the building is nearing a state that would make it unfit for use. Such building problems can arise for a variety of reasons, including natural degradation and aging, insufficient care, the use of underspecified materials, and poor craftsmanship.

    Movement in the House
    Defects, ground movement, foundation failure, degradation of the building fabric, and other factors can all contribute to house movement.
    A building does not have legs, yet it can move; nevertheless, it was not designed to move, therefore when it does, it is a harbinger of oncoming collapse.
    Cracking is likely to occur if a structure is unable to support this movement.

    Permeation of moisture
    When water enters a building from the outside due to poor rainfall protection systems or infrastructure, moisture penetration occurs.

    Certain areas of a building, such as the ceiling, the interior of the walls, and the floors, should not be damp.

    These sections have been fortified structurally to withstand dampness. When moisture enters these barriers, it signals the impending collapse of the structure.

    Faulty foundation
    A foundation is designed to support the weight of a structure. When there are obvious symptoms of a faulty foundation.

    If your floors are out of level or appear to be drooping, bowing, or dipping, this could be a sign of problems.
