Former Nigerian footballer, Yisa Sofoluwe has died at the age of 53

Sofoluwe, who in his playing days was also known as the Dean of Defense, passed away after a fight with a brain ailment.

A few hours after Sports Minister Sunday Dare announced he was taking up his hospital bills, the former defender passed on.

Sofoluwe was admitted to the ICU centre at the Teaching Hospital of Lagos University, where he had to undergo brain surgery.

As a left back for the Super Eagles, he won 40 caps and played in the 1984 and 1988 African Nations Cups.
