State Commissioner, Yakubu Lawal has been kidnapped days after defending President Muhammadu Buhari on TV. 

, who serves as the commissioner for information, culture, and tourism in the state of Nasarawa, has been taken captive.

After a series of random shootings that took place late on Monday night, it is believed that unidentified gunmen abducted Lawal from his residence in Nasarawa Eggon.

A member of the family who does not wish for his name to be mentioned confirmed the news and stated that the assailants who abducted the Commissioner, Yakubu Lawal were armed with heavy weapons.

Adding that the commissioner was kidnapped around nine o’clock at night when gunmen stormed his home and took him and his son hostage. His son was later set free, but he was never found.

Nasarawa State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed that Yakubu Lawal, the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, has been kidnapped.


In confirming how the incident occurred, the spokesman of the police in Nasarawa, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement made available to Ejes Gist Newspaper , said: “On Monday, Aug. 15, at about 8:45 p.m., the attention of policemen on routine patrol was drawn to the sound of sporadic gunshots in the Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of the state.”

This comes days after he said President Muhammadu Buhari has performed very well and Nigerians should be grateful.
