Winners pastor on the run
After reportedly attempting to kill his 17-year-old female house help, a pastor Winners pastor (Living Faith Church), in Okuokoko, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, is on the run.
Pastor Solomon Diya allegedly assaulted his house help, Favour, for drinking garri from a tin of milk, according to EjesGist Newspaper.
During the attack, Pastor Diya is claimed to have punched Favour on the head numerous times.
A church member said that the pastor and his wife had abused the housekeeper on several occasions.
Israel Joe, a Warri-based human rights activist, criticised the pastor’s action, claiming that when the matter was brought to his attention, he ordered the girl to be sent to the hospital.
“On Tuesday, April 5, Pastor Solomon Diya allegedly attempted to murder his domestic help.” According to EjesGist Newspaper, Israel Joe said, “The issue was reported, and we directed that the girl be rushed to the hospital.”
“The suspect has been invited by the police to Orerokpe, but he is resisting arrest, and if he does not surrender to the police by Monday (April 11), we will obtain an arrest warrant for him.” When did drinking garri from a tin of milk become a crime of attempting to murder her?
“Can the pastor treat his own children in this manner if they drink from his milk tin?” Today, the girl’s mother arrived from Imo State, and we will all air our grievances accordingly. All of the neighbours have expressed their displeasure with the pastor and his wife’s treatment of this young lady. “It won’t happen again,” he declared.
