The governor outlined how the dynamics of modern politics had made it unpopular to simply give votes away without providing any assurance that the recipients would receive something in return.

“If you say Rivers State doesn’t matter, Rivers State will tell you at the appropriate time that you don’t also matter,” said Wike.

We won’t like you if you don’t like us. We will like you if you like us.

“No one will use our votes ineffectively. Our votes will count, and the candidates we choose to support must be advantageous to Rivers State.

Voting for someone is no longer the only aspect of politics; you also need to consider what you will do for the people of Rivers State.

Wike asserted that it would be challenging for any conspirator to alter Rivers State’s voting patterns and its support for the (PDP).

The governor insisted that no candidate for governor of Rivers State would receive support if they had looted the state’s coffers.

“Let nobody tell you stories that anyone will come here to win as governor of Rivers State,” he said to his guest from Lagos State. It won’t take place.

“I have challenged those who looted the State’s treasury to run for governor of Rivers State, but they will not come.

“I am in complete control. I’m not the kind of governor that people will travel to Abuja to meet with. Here, I am in complete control.

Wike also urged those who were jealous of his achievements to demonstrate their own abilities by carrying out projects and inviting famous people to dedicate them.

He said it was not the first time members of other political parties had been urged to inaugurate projects in Rivers State, despite the Lagos Governor’s invitation.

Wike was praised by Sanwo-Olu, who officially opened the Orochiri-Worokwu (Waterlines) Flyover, for his unwavering dedication to the construction of physical infrastructure in Rivers State.

“I would like to commend my brother, Governor Wike, in particular for his strong commitment to the delivery of physical infrastructure in Rivers State, a commitment that has been acknowledged by all and sundry and has earned him the moniker of “Mr. Projects” both inside and outside Rivers State,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu claimed that even though he and Wike had different political ideologies, Wike’s invitation to him sent a very strong message that political leaders could work together despite these differences for the benefit of the populace.
