“We won’t beg him”- PDP BoT member who met Governor Wike in Turkey
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Board of Trustees named Adamu Maina Waziri has spoken out against the opposition party’s decision to approach Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike about the selection of Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election.
Former Minister of Police Affairs Adamu Maina Waziri criticized the action as being ill-informed and insisted that the party’s interests outweigh those of its members as a whole.
“Wike is in a precarious situation and needs some time to process what transpired.
I support the reconciliation, but I disagree with sending that powerful delegation to bow down for him.
“Whatever the party decided, all compliant members should abide by it.
We must put aside what happened during the primary elections and go on since the party’s interests outweigh our individual ones
We need to select a running mate for our presidential candidate because Wike declared he wouldn’t be anyone’s running mate.
Additionally, Waziri refuted the assertion that Atiku had dispatched him to meet with Wike in Turkey.
“Atiku didn’t send me anywhere, but of course I was in Istanbul, Turkey, for a leave of absence last Friday, and we just happened to run into each other in a hotel,” she said.
